Here's 1 that all u Atrix 5000 owners can do in 1 day too. So here goes................


I got this as a stock standard Atrix looking like this.












Here's the 1st thing I did today. removed everything so I can work on the top window n respray the chassis in matt black.






Next thing to do is to mark out the top panel n cut out the hole for the window on top. N awaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy we go with the cutting.






Cutting done, now u hafta file down the edges nicely

Next thing to do is the acrylic for the top. measure the exact size u need, mark it out n start cutting. Also cut the fanhole at the same time so u dont hafta go back to cutting the hole after installing the window.








For this window I used hot glue to mount instead of the usual double sided tape coz of the 6 screws. I had to drill out a big hole for the screws to let them tru the acrylic n then hot glue the bottom of the 6 screws to keep it in place. Forgot to take pix of this step. But here's how it looks after everything is done.







Painting the chassis matt black is next. Doesn't sound like much of a mod eh? But wait till u c the end result n u'll b amazed at how much better the Atrix looks with a matt black chassis.








Remember to wear a gas mask while painting ya. If not u'll b breathing in all those nasty paint fumes. Lemme just show u guys how nasty the paint fumes r. This is a pix of my gas mask's filter.

This is the filter after painting. It's actually black in real life but sumhow in the pix with flash it looks just grey.




Now take a look at the other side of the filter. This is the clean side that u breath from. Shocking isn't it? Look how nice n white it is.




Now just imagine without the gas mask ure lungs will b like the black filter.

Chassis painting n top window done. Time to assemble everything now.

Now take a look back at how this simple 1 day mod has transformed the Atrix. It doesnt even look like the same case anymore.

After the simple 1 day mod. The matt black also highlights the purple tool less mounts as well. Very striking contrast.




Looks totally different now doesn't it.

er, may i kno wat happened to the HDD rack? not using it ar?

The HDD cage has been cloaked in Stealth technology.

No lar, I didnt paint the HDD cage coz the HDD always take out put in all will scratch the paint off, so just left teh HDD cage in silver.

bro, i wonder about the level of SCRATCHes dat ya paint can hold.. coz d only thing holding me back from spraying my casing's internal area is the scrathes made during installation n uninstallation of h/ws... even worse, torn paints... haizzz~

that's not really a one day mod considering most of us don't have a jigsaw

just curious.... when u do the painting job... will u use metal premier for base layer and protection coat after the paint is dry??

since that is the normal steps that most modder practice in US ....

well, even standard case will scratch if ure really rough while installing stuff. just hafta be more aware when installing stuff thats all.



Hehehhe. Actually took me like few hours oni lar. I've taken into account most ppl doing a 1st time mod so it'll most likely take them all day hence I named it 1 day mod.





Nonid primer in this case coz the interior is oredi painted with a coat of plain matt grey paint which is like primer paint oredi. N matt paint cannot b clear coated. Or else it'll just turn to gloss black. Haha






Side panel u hafta ask kalakatu to post up. He has it at home.





Ya man. I really hate how most cases come with the matt grey interior nowadays. It's really ugly n looks really cheap in grey.

they really painted it matt grey ka? sheesh as if the bare metal color isn't drab enough.

Actually most of the rm100-200+ cases nowadays all come with matt grey interior. Even the Coolermasters come in matt grey. So ugly the matt grey.

wahh...all black arr...
if can change that 'atrix' in front with all black logo would be better ahh...

bro..if florocent color...still need to add clear x??

i owned this case, n i have done just like mr.ianho did it to that case , personally, this case is 'nothing' w/out modding it, after mod, absolute fantastic , it just, i havent tot to paint the interior, walau damn nice la mr.ianho...tomorow, i shud get it done lor...
erm... about painting job...just paint in black?or any detail step...primer or clear type/protection coat... hmmm?

It's not what brand u use. They're all about the same. It's the technique n patience. There's a lot of patience involved in painting.

The stock standard Atrix comes with mesh side n top panels.

guys²...recently painted those interior of my 5000 atrix n looks great, in black finish...
used up to 2 flat black n 2 clear type painting.add to that, i removed all floppy/hdd cage n store hdd in cd-rom drive bay...result...i already planned to installed large (12cm fan in front of my case) - have to remove those suck LCD there summore...

bro the front cd bays cover ...the atrix word can be removed? oh the back mod to fit a 120 mm fan ahh??
this atrix has a funny way of removind the panels(vertical)..can that be changed??

u cant just remove the "atrix" word.u'l have to take out the whole arcrylic there first.well,yes...it could be done.
as for the side panels,thatz what makes atrix unique.just 1 screw to open the case.u could always try to mod it

Hi Ianho, good job!!! I might consider to let you mod my casing. I'll see how it goes as I'm not really from KL, but from Kedah. However, I'm studying there. If you can recommend anyone you know from the northen region, that would be great.

after modded, some features of the casing gone...?

no..i mean those LCD front panel there, comes stock with HDD temp, CPU temp n etc.i just hate it since it won't give me any help bout those temp anyway, beside, i got this case - comes with short curcuited already!!! damn kedai SRC...

i love the Atrix word lor, sayangla nak bukak...maybe i shud upload the pix, to show, wat i've done with pc...i opened all cd drive cover to give my HDD, yeap HDD's there, to get a better air flow, maybe i shud fix nice acrylic there...

yea, the manufacture claims that artix 5000g is anti-radiation.
might be related with the side panel as well thought?

how many layer should i spray the matt black paint ? and spray starting from which side ?
