QUOTE(dembaba9000 @ Jan 16 2014, 04:29 PM) anyone here plays with homescreen n widgets?? I realize we lack threads like "share your home screen" etc. My default screen is a full-sized dashclock widget (transparent background) - customised with lots of stuff so it also acts somewhat like a notification panel.

But liquidpel will surely affect the finishing of the device. I really like the finishing of my Nexus 5 - searching for every possible way to use it naked.
Did anyone search for pouch/sleeve in Etsy. They do have some nice and affordable one.

QUOTE(Tsukiyomi001 @ Jan 17 2014, 04:11 PM) Guys, wanna ask something about matte screen protectors Do you find that matte screen protectors affect the clarity and sharpness of the screen? From my previous experience on Samsung i9000, I find that there will be colour artifacts and reduced sharpness if I put on a matte SP My theory on matte (and so-called anti-fingerprint) SP is that, it prevents fingerprints to develop as it consists of layer(s) of material to absorb the oil on your hand. As you use it more and more, the screen will develop smudges and thus affect the clarity and sharpness,

QUOTE(-kytz- @ Jan 18 2014, 12:52 AM) I compare my Nexus 5 to my colour calibrated IPS monitor which has 95% sRGB coverage and yeah, the phone is slightly yellowish I notice my phone to be slightly yellowish, too. Comparing mine to my friend's, mine looks whiter. So I guess pretty normal for yellowish screen - hardly see any pure bright white screen out there.

QUOTE(KENTK3 @ Jan 19 2014, 08:27 PM) yes AP price wil drop but problem is don know malaysia LG will bring in onot... now SG LG already announ no bring in already Hmm, while I don't know about how active LG phone department is in Singapore but I can tell LG Malaysia certainly doesn't care too much about phone sales. I won't be surprised if LG Malaysia will opt for the LG G2 (considering underwhelming global sales so far) instead of the Nexus 5.

QUOTE(((Xa))0102 @ Jan 21 2014, 03:01 PM) Yep. By turning that off, you've reduced 95% of the NlpWakelock which haunts all Android devices with cellular/WiFi radio, GPS chip. But that means no more Google Now on traffic update right, and potentially more services are affected?

QUOTE(((Xa))0102 @ Jan 21 2014, 03:14 PM) I see. If you use Android Device Manager, then it will be totally unusable. If you're using Google based mapping/navi system, you need to turn that on as well. You can toggle it on when you need to be updated for Google Now or using Google Maps rather than leaving it on the whole day. Really a pain. I know about using "device only" mode can potentially save battery as Google don't use GPS to get your location aggressively - but it breaks other location-based apps.

QUOTE(NightFelix @ Jan 21 2014, 05:17 PM) how you gonna Greenify if you didnt root? can greenify those apps like whether checker like beautiful weather/yahoo weather, push notification like gmail/yahoomail, messagging apps alike like wechat/line/viber. Greenify works without root, just rather limited - no auto-hibernation but can kill hibernate those apps you hardly use. But honestly speaking, does it really enhance battery life? (didn't feel much changes for my previous phone)

QUOTE(-kytz- @ Jan 22 2014, 02:51 PM) Nexus phones are the epitome of smoothness in the Android world. Period. All the other brands have their own bloated UI customizations, for example Samsung or HTC which hog resources and you may experience lags here and there. My experience with my SIII was terrible to the extend that I almost hated Android, laggy, unresponsive, freezing, crashing (I'm on stock and rooted, no rogue/black market apps). But I decided to give Android another chance by getting a pure android experience with the Nexus 5 and boy did I fall in love with Android again. Never will I buy another non-Nexus phone ever again.... But it didn't make me work hard to detect dropped frames though. Occasionally, while using GEL, swiping to the Google Now panel will result in dropped frames.

QUOTE(-kytz- @ Jan 22 2014, 03:07 PM) I disabled Google Now because it was eating up some battery and using GPS unnecessarily. Feel free to disagree Don't think Google Now really uses GPS. It's the Google Location services which is basically some pooling based on WiFi or mobile location.

QUOTE(robinsonz @ Jan 22 2014, 03:41 PM) hi, i keep on received a group chat from whatsapp, and i would like to quit from this group, the reason is i suspect the group chat 'might' drained my battery, btw question will the group chat drained out battery ? Whatsapp is run as a push service. It doesn't really sleep (else you will get delayed messages) so I don't think getting group chat messages will drain your battery. It will if you enable popup for group messages which will power up your screen, and also a notification tone and LED (that's rather minimal though).

QUOTE(Ahmaz @ Jan 22 2014, 04:26 PM) Someone had Rev_12 in their HW_REVISION already I love Google Now.. so so useful.. maybe you guys just don't know how to utilise it fully? I was so amazed when it detected my booked flight information and created a card for it; transportation, flight schedule, gate information etc.. !! Other than the usual weather and home/work cards, I also have sports card (EPL scores) and cards based on my recent chrome history (news, articles, etc) The flight thingy is spooky but really handy. I always ask my family to send me a copy of itinerary so that I can get their flight info right away without needing to check regularly from the airline company website. EPL scores are handy (although could be better by listing out the scorers). Commute cards are good to give an estimate, if only they can set more than Home and Work locations.

QUOTE(((Xa))0102 @ Jan 24 2014, 02:09 PM) Because, IPS screens can't produce true black. The true black it produces is when the LED backlight turns off. When its on, its 5% grey or something, not pitch black. Yup, even when fully off, you can tell that the screen isn't 100% black either, compared to the bezel. Will have been magnificent if it can pull off a clean black for the front like some of the Sony phones but generally no complaint for the screen at all, even if mine is a bit yellowish.
