I thought rear panel is plastic-ish material? can kena scratch?
More and more issue dug out by users .. hmm.gif good in a way to know the issue so can prepare when SONY Malaysia put it up for sale but got quite a number of issues make me blink.gif hmm.gif

issues so far (based on few post back):
1. Different panels JDI and AUO panel
2. Rear panel can be scratched

Last hope left for me is price, if not then bye.gif have to consider alternatives as much as i hate screens bigger than 4.5'

There are lots of possibility .. Maybe he lying, maybe he not.
Maybe the fella got put other stuff in pocket such as key which scratched the back in his "intensive use"
The point is, those who go wanna have naked phone without any cover can't do so or risk possibility of facing such issue, thanks to the usage of plastic back instead of the premium glass

i was initially thinking of using it naked or with some thin bumper, but seems like it'll need extra protection to stay pristine.. dont know if we can just stick some "screen protector" over the back to prevent scratches.. wanna keep it thin and light, otherwise defeat the purpose of buying a small phone in the 1st place if i were to use some big ass case/cover..
also worry that those wrap around case wouldn't fit the charging dock as i dont wanna pull and plug the USB flap cover too frequently, a lesson i learnt from my previous Moto XT720.. flap covers dont last..
*
Yeah i have the exact same thought as you, just using thin layer of external protection to cover the phone so that it wouldnt be too bulky in the pocket. I think if use screen protector for the back also need to use anti scratch film, maybe need put 2 layers to make sure really no problem tongue.gif
Ultimately when it comes to z1 compact we want all the power of the bigger bro Z1, compressed into a 4.3 screen which will not make mobility hard for us especially when we want it with us all the time / in our pocket.

My current 3 year old HTC is fine without any form of protection in both front and back panel. Granted that I put keys in the same pocket with my phone but the outcome is not as bad as that shown on by the 4 days old "intensive use" on z1 c. That saying i'm not quite sure what is the material used for the rear but its definitely not glass (i'm going to go with mixed component with mainly plastic), but comparing to Sony's updated white paper of "high rigid" plastic and also the many complains on xda, based on preassumption i think Sony really skimped on the material that badly, which is really a shame.

I got my current smartphone's ori set from directd. So i'm kinda disappointed with the price they offer for this phone especially considering this is just AP set.
Still wanna wait and take a look what standard pricing Sony Malaysia will offer icon_idea.gif

So what is the optimal timeframe to buy a phone when it first reaches our shores? 2 weeks? 4 weeks?
*
Basically what Tomei said.
But from my personal view, if i not despo then i am willing to wait up to 1-2 months before getting the phone after it is launched in the market.
This is to check out any more issues with the local batch which are faced by local pioneer users
But this phone ... ooooohhhh make me so tempted drool.gif

*
Hahahaha great minds think alike! tongue.gif
Rear panel will just have to get a cover for it la .. no choice biggrin.gif
As for flash problem i still thinking.. Software update can solve this prob? Sony got come out with statement regarding this issue that i not aware of?

^ Hoping that someone will come out with that too so that dun need casing biggrin.gif
But the closest thing among sp that is already available for other phones is anti scratch sp. If wanna create sp for this rear panel also hope it is layered enough to withstand the basic scratches such as key in pocket, light fall etc.

also note that the Anti-Shatter film applied on top of the dragontrail glass (at the front) is soft, and easily scratchable  doh.gif
but if you remove the ASF, you lose the sony branding..  doh.gif  doh.gif

user posted image

oh man sad.gif
means the ASF for front if wanna secure summore stick another layer on top of the current layer? rclxub.gif
that saying it will be my first time switching to a phone using dragontrail glass (previous phones are all corning gorilla glass)
dragontail glass is ok?

No matter first batch of phones or not, its still the same phone. Only thing that gets improved and updated are only the firmware. The HARDWARE stays the same. Reason being, Sony just cant simply alter their production line. By the time you buy the phone, most probably people are already bored of it and talking about another model already.  nod.gif
*
you maybe right regarding the hardware but the last remaining thing that icks me from being a pioneer user is the flash bleed problem. I am still unclear of it being a hardware issue or the solution lies in software update? Did Sony release statement about this issue?
Oh and i prefer to have variety of casing option and the screen protector available straight away when i get the phone .. haha biggrin.gif

actually i think changes can happen if Sony is willing to sacrifice profit margin to bring up higher % of customer satisfaction.

Z1 Released 2013, September

Z1 Compact Released 2014, January

Z2 Releasing probably on 2014, March?

Z2 Compact by right should be after 4 months Z2 is being released in the market.

Maybe Z2 Compact is for Q2 of 2014. brows.gif

Just my guess.
*
^ Good analysis.
If follow this plan then Sony really dunno how to manage their product launching time schedule well.
To Z1 Compact's future generation, pls pls pls pls pls maintain the slimness and compactness of your forefather, but pls fix the issue of flash bleed and panel scratching.

I know we all want an improved 2nd gen Compact...

So please buy Z1 Compact first... got sale, only they will make sequel... if Z1C sale not good, I doubt they will release another compact...
*
Agreed on the account that sales reflect the popularity and feedback which translate into consideration for future generations of Sony Compact smart phones.
They could've really make the winning of best CES2014 Smartphone gadget category on Engadget and some other review sites a worthy and real deserving one had they been just that much careful about their products.
That saying, if the price offered by Sony Malaysia is good i will definitely get one.
Of course, there's the flash bleed problem .. but i guess i will just have to live with it ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
