Do you guys think someone will come out with some sort of glass SP for the rear of the Z1 Compact?
*

MIME USA seems to make for the Z, not sure if they'll make one for the Z1C

also note that the Anti-Shatter film applied on top of the dragontrail glass (at the front) is soft, and easily scratchable doh.gif
but if you remove the ASF, you lose the sony branding.. doh.gif doh.gif

But then again, what about the sides?  hmm.gif  This is only to protect the back cover.  I think we still need a full backcover albeit a thin one. Like Condoms. laugh.gif
*
life will be hard when u use condom(on the phone)... think about when u need to charge, popping the flap is going to be hard.. charging dock wont fit because the gap(on the charging dock) too tight...
why sony no put Qi in Xperia series... blush.gif

you maybe right regarding the hardware but the last remaining thing that icks me from being a pioneer user is the flash bleed problem. I am still unclear of it being a hardware issue or the solution lies in software update? Did Sony release statement about this issue?
Oh and i prefer to have variety of casing option and the screen protector available straight away when i get the phone .. haha biggrin.gif
*
99.9999% is hardware lah, no way FW can fix that, not without compromising the flash performance..

Really meh? I thought is the refraction of light that refracts into the camera?no?
*
yes, and how are you going to correct the refraction with firmware? by lowering the flash power? then that's compromising the flash performance already.. there should be some non translucent shielding around the lens/flash to prevent this kinda leak/bleed in the 1st place..

it was reported that the ASF is gone on Z2, now not sure if Z1C got the same treatment, or is it still based on Z1...

http://www.androidcentral.com/sony-ditches...eria-z2-devices

any early adopters feeling adventurous? hahaha...

EDIT: NVM, read the Z1C thread on XDA, pretty sure its with ASF as many have reportedly scratched their front without attaching any "screen protector"...

i'll most probably hang on to my current phone a little longer and hope a Z2C will appear this year... LOL..

who knows? hehe...
i've waited so long for a perfect replacement for my current phone (coming to 3 years @ July 2014), dont mind a little wait as long as it dont fail suddenly.
it's a 4.3" and physically similar to Z1C, and its thin and light. was a flagship when released, and i grab it as soon as its available locally @ RM2k+ smile.gif

i'll see what is best when my contract is up in Q3. if nothing good is available, i'll just hang on to my S2 and get a tablet instead when i recontract, then buy another another phone as and when i need it, off contract.

Good one.  thumbup.gif

Lotsa procrastinators around. When there is Z1 Compact, they want Z2 Compact and so on and so forth. If you like the phone just buy it. Why wanna think this and that, want the second batch of Z1 Compact lar, want improved version lar. Why want to make your life so complicated? doh.gif

By the way, most manufacturers will not work on an existing model or give and upgrades on it as it is already in the production line or worst its already on the markets. To alter an exisiting production would be too costly. When a product is already launched and on the market, most of their designers and programmers will be working on a new replacement model for that phone already.
*
because it's my money, i buy what i like, as and when i like, thats why loh..
it's better to think and make informed choices than to buy blindly and regret later, no?
or maybe your money come easier? brows.gif

like you said, they're probably working on a replacement already, so for those who can tahan, just wait and see loh..
if you look at Z-Z1-Z2, its actually released in a cycle of 6-7 months.. if i can hold on for 6-7 months, why not right? what is there to lose if by then no Z2C coming? i can still buy Z1C and enjoy it rite? would probably be cheaper too. life is all about choices laugh.gif

slightly faster processor? stereo speaker? 4k video recording? are these important to your needs?

How about glass front and back without anti shatter film, like the Z2?

No. Z1C will remain as previous Xperia Z series which will have "anti-shatter film". Only starting from Z2 and Z2 Tablet onward will not have "anti-shatter film".

i know, i'm just replying to ckchan about what i'm looking forward to, if there's ever a Z2C.

Did sony find the film redundant and thus discarded the use of it or..did they replace it with a new flim? could it be that there's no more use for any film from the Z2 onwards? hmm.gif

QUOTE
Good news for would-be Xperia Z2 buyers today, as one of our major bugbears with previous Sony smartphones has been consigned to history. At a meeting today at Mobile World Congress, Sony confirmed to Android Central that fixed screen protectors — officially known as "anti-shatter film" — are not used on the Xperia Z2 and Z2 Tablet. Instead Sony's latest smartphone and tablet are furnished in bare glass and metal, just as nature intended.

We've long bemoaned the use of the anti-shatter film on Sony phones, which scratches more easily than the reinforced glass of the display and gives the devices a more plasticky feel, while also picking up smudges and fingerprints. So it's great to see this finally addressed as Sony launches its 2014 portfolio.

truth is, there will never be a perfect phone, up to individuals to see if it suits them..
Z2 and Z2 Tablet already ditched the ASF..
so, next up, Z2C... muahahahahaha...

Usually phone manufactureres will launch the replacement model for a certain model a year after the launch, with the exception for Samsung phones of course. So no worries on buying the current Z1 Compact now.
