Just bought mine last friday. After spending a lot of moolah using many notebook from the past. From Crusoe, Intel MMX, to P2, P3, P4D, P4M, Centrino 1.4, 1.6. 1.86, Athlon M (Sorry never use Via). I truly believe this one top other model by value, performance and look.

Overall: I dunno why people willing to buy Lifebook or Viao or Thinkpad nowadays for that extra moolah. Why I said so? Toshiba is all about built quality. IBM is the super built ans super stable and yet the stealth look and the Thinkpad name. Sony and Fujitsu I believe is more like a normal overall package with killer price. I used them all already, yeah oh yea. You name it, all the major brand low end until high end. The V3010 built quality good, on par or better than fujitsu and toshiba. Keyboard tactile nice but cant top IBM. Looks, a viao killer anytime.

Notebook is going to be out dated soon esp the centrino processor which is not supporting the 64bit wagon. Why wanna spend more? For name and fortune? Naahh.
Buy now, use few years and sell it here loo. :-P

Processor: And its vista ready! 64bit computing, you wont worry if you wanna run Windows Vista with this baby. 1.6 x2 is more than enough for our daily computing need with torrent, limewire and mp3 running at the back. This is on of AMD best mobility effort. The athlon mobilty sucks and Turion rule. In term of performance, as par as my Centrino 1.86Ghz.

Heat: So far as the heat issue, I have been running in a warm room for more than 48 hours. Quite ok. Just make sure have some gaps underneath the notebook for the warm air to come out. Battery life, max with wifi 2 1/2 max. So if u want better battery life, get the 12 cell that can last 5 hours min.

Graphics: Gforce 6150 good enuff for online gaming. 64MB min and put some extra ram and you can up to 256MB!

Memory & Storage: First AMD using DDR2 finally! 5400RM 60GB SATA hardisk is quite good and the storage capacity is on par with the price of the notebook given,
The DVD-RW DL even support DVDRAM.

Cons: Only lacking I see in this notebook. No Bluetooth and Webcam. Other than that a dream come true for only 3K. For now I havent seen any other notebook in the market now that can top off this notebook in overall packing with the price.

Recommendation: Get 1GB RAM for better performance and just buy an external hardisk if ur storage is not enuff or burn it in DVD DL.

P.S. For the V3010 buyer. Dont download the driver at the HP webpage, its useless. Buy your notebook. Install OS and go to HP service center to get the driver.

Im running WinXP Pro (Ori) with service pack 2 and standard specs.
Im going to get 1gb pair of ddr667 and 12 cell battery plus a notebook cooling pad for my torrent download.

advice me please
i intended to get a notebook by today

which should i go for ? v3010 or 3011
once i got it will format it and install OS Windows XP Pro

well. if u buy 3010 is cheaper but after u install the windows u need to go HP supprt center to ask for the driver or you can ask the shop burn you the driver on CD.

install the temp monitor today. processor heats to 53c, and hardisk to 55c. rush out to buy the metal notebook cooling pad at 48. did some modification by reversing one of the fan to the processor (left side corner) from blow to suck. improve now to 40c processor. hardisk is 45c. worth rm48!

Well maybe I am wrong, but the technolgy gap and built quality is getting better. So, if let say a thinkpad t60 6600+ for a centrino duo and combo drive?

I believe the max price difference should be more than 30% with the same specs. even by a major brand like thinkpad (who is now only lenovo) and sony? not even a major notebook vendor. so what i mean that i dunno why people are buying the same specs of notebook which cost twice the price via diff is model and design.

When u can buy now, with better price. sell it off after using 2 years and buy the latest one.

hmm. well maybe. but i will stop my discussion here.

maybe i am wrong. review is based on personal experience and reference. i have use high end model even a 12k toshiba. 2 years back maybe there is a lot of difference, buw nowadays i cant find myself a excuses to buy viao, esp thinkpad. dont get me wrong i love my thinkpad but, it cost double and i feel it perfrom less.

you cant compare car tecnology with notebook. we are mostly using same processor, chipset, even hardisk and optical drive.

usually major difference is design, brand = support, and built quality.
car moslty they manufacturer everything with the company design thru r&d. you cant compare carrera turbo, with lamboghini and f430 can u?

i dont think it will get that hot unless u are also sweeting. if a normal room temp youd be fine.

actually im gonna get this model soon....but heard of u all so many problem so now im hav abit doubt about this model.....anyway i just compare this model with its rival model tat are run on core duo...tat all n thanks all sifu advice
*
processor value of 55c and hardisk at 53c is very very normal. nowadays amd or intel processor running dual core on full speed will have these range of temp on a tropical climate. so far when i run this notebook on normal and gaming condition they have never ever poses me any prob. as we know before on those amd athons days 55c is a normal and 45c is very2 good. if you guy wish to feel comfertable especially running it on a long night just guy a metal tri fan cooler that cost roughly 60. if you have the notebook software, and your running torrent or easy downloading and mp3. you can select to dynamic switching which put the processor ar 800 mhz and 43-45c. and the speed quite comfertable running many application using 1gb ram.

i also beleive that the problems also is affected mainly from the 6150 display and chipset which hp mainly sink the cooling pippline heatsink all in one row. the desktop version of the 6150 chipset is so hot, which you can hurt ur finger when you put your to the heatsink for a very short period of time.

this tempature is far far better than the first version of ferari notebook that is hot until the keyboard and they still are running well until now. for me dual core intel and amd is hot running full. if you want cooler stick to celeron , sonoma or core solo.

dont worry, so far the notebook is good enough and just buy the cooling pad for using it on a cooler basis. thanks.

has anyone tried using a cooling pad? how effective was it then?
*
Yep, if you read carefully before.

35c room temp - before using cooling pad
processor: 53c max
hardisk: 55 max

35c room temp - after using cooling pad
processor: 43c max
hardisk: 45 max

please take note, im using a tri-fan design and the fan on the left corner is just below my processor fan. so i have modded and make the fan sucking air from the processor fan instead of blowing. dont get the plastic tri fan, the fan is so small and weak and the coolermaster is so damn expensive. bought mine at 60.
