i had asked my condo management and they only allowing 2 access cards per house. that is very annoying for my relative that visit my house few times a week. i needs to clone my current access card. the card looks like standard office door access card. i am sure it is not NFC because i cant clone with my phone. it is something looks like this...click here - rfid card

anyone know how to clone it or where i can find the cloning service? thanks.

You can clone it in most shops providing duplicate key service, cost RM30 to RM80. However it may not work in new condos as the encryption for newer technologies are harder to copy. So do get the shop to agree that you can get reimbursement if it fails to work.

Add on to kochinKor input, one may duplicate credit card to be supplementary card. To me, that is a crime.

exactly. the access card is for security purposes. if you duplicate the card to your condo just because your relative find it "annoying" to register, then you're not fit to live in a condo. what is so difficult to register anyway?

But this discussion does indicate a security flaw with condo management TRYING to improve condo security by having RFID-based security cards.

Are there cards better security than RFID-based cards ?

I think smart card based cannot be cloned. However, maybe it's more expensive.

Why you say it is cloned ?

When it is issued to you, it is a new card. Every card is unique. And then information is written to it. There is no cloning.

If the extra duplicated card is used for good, then it is alright la... BTW, to thos management ppl out there, if you want to prevent this from happening, pls allow your residents to have additional access card on request (with additional charges) so that you will have a full record on the access card holders...

Only those using purely magnetic stripe has been cloned. Those which reads from the smart card has yet to be cloned. I say yet......

In the earlier days, smart cards can be cloned. I have cloned the phone Sim cards before.

These days, smart cards have 2 important security measures :-

1. Encryption is much higher.
2. Auto shutdown or destroy features after many attempts.

ur right, it is a security flaw. nfc, touh n go...

back to topic, each rfid actually having unduplicable unique id, but the content which, most security system will store their own database ID is duplicatable.

my answer is absolutely yes but i dun want to buy the duplicator which cost 18usd from china.
the management is weird limiting only 2 card per house.

For my case, my relative (inlaw parents) is been using the card to visit me/jaga my house for many years, just recently my wife wana take back the rfid card for personal use. it is common like my friends condo having 2 families living together.

Used their service pretty efficient

http://tinyurl.com/duplicatecardaccess

bought a key chain type cause it's easy to enter and exit without pulling out wallet, 2 in 1 use.

Some people took out the key chain rfid and stick it on the car door window to enter/exit car park automatically, how convenient.

Car or House access?

I assume its Car?

Then depends on what system they have cloning it might be useless.

Better system will record the entry and exit of each individual card. So if Card A entered, and another car using duplicate of Card A trying to enter again, it will be rejected as in the system Card A is already recorded as being IN the property.

The Guard will stop you and will soon realise you are using an unauthorised duplicate.
