Hey everyone ! I'm driving a Vios 1.5G, looking to change a 195/55R15 tyres.
At first my first choice is Michelin PS3, because this tyre has the most positive reviews among all.

My main criteria is comfort and quiet. My friend recommended me Bridgestone Ecopia EP200. It was mentioned that it's quality is able to compete with XM2, of course lose to PS3. But if calculate on price to quality, Bridgestone is more worth it. The price difference is around RM90 between EP200 and PS3.
I can't really find much review on this particular tyre, anyone can provide any advice?

Bridgestone Ecopia is the direct competitor to Michelin's XM2.

You shouldn't compare Ecopia against PS3..

I haven't tried Ecopia before. If I am correct, Ecopia could be slightly pricier.

Er..the quotation that i got from my friend is very different. Is actually my friend's friend shop.
for 195/55R15,
Ecopia EP200 is RM175
PS3 is around RM260. Both with Nitro Gas.

Alignment around RM30. That is for the pricing of 4 tyres.

I was searching very hard online for the same review before I decided to change to ECOPIA EP200. What I found in the past was only 1 or 2 press reviews. However, I decided to give it a try since I'm satisfied with Turanza AR10 which BS claim EP200 is better than it in a few areas.

My car tyre size is 185/60R14. So, as you know, there isnt much choice for this size. The tires I've used so far on the same car, same rim are:
Dunlop SP10 > Goodyear NCT 5 > Yokohama A. Drive > BS Turanza AR10 > BS Ecopia EP200 (present)

So far, I've used these 2 pairs of tyres to travel from KL to Penang to KL to Singapore to KL, other than daily travel within the city. If you're interested, I could get the figure of distance travelled by AR10 and EP200 so far once I check the receipt.

Referring to the spec & claims by BS about EP200 & its improvement over AR10 (in certain areas but not all), they are TRUE... At least for now. In my experience, the tires really "assist" me to improve the FC due to lower rolling resistance. This is especially useful when I was approaching traffic light or travel in slow traffic. Compared to AR10, EP200 is able to travel "further" at "higher speed" while slowing down (accelerator released) towards a red light. With AR10, I had to hold my foot to the accelerator & could only release it when getting nearer to the traffic light. You see why I said "assist" now?

For stopping power, I feel that it performs better on wet road than on dry road while AR10 is equally good but at the opposite. So far no aqua planning issue.

For cornering, EP200 is only slightly better than AR10. Maybe because EP200 has harder sidewall or it's still new.

For comfort, both are equally quiet according to my pair of ears. I didnt test with any high tech equipment. However, I could feel bumpy & uneven road more than the softer AR10.

Besides that, I spent RM195 for each AR10 while RM160 for each EP200. I choose EP200 over XM2 because EP200 was cheaper by around RM20, nicer looking tread, 3 deep & wide lanes for aquaplanning instead of 2 (XM2), and lastly a XM2 user driving similar car told me the excitement of driving in the rain.

Do take note that the thread at the corner of EP200 for my tire size (185/65R14) is a bit different from the advertisement.

I think I've shared enough of my experience.

Wow! Thanks for the wonderful review. I think this can be a reference for a lot of people. I think I'm just going to give a shot to buy the tyre.
I'm getting it on 15th this month, after I get my bonus ^^

After driving, will give my personal point of view on this tyre

Currently shopping for tyres,
and the saleperson mention this ECO 200 is a new spec. So, that why its cheap now.

At the same shop, XM2 is RM230 while ECO 200 is RM190.

New spec, so its cheap? Means when become old, then the price increase? hmm.gif

Take it with a pinch of salt. Salesman can say anything.
Mention about kind of introduction into the market, that why its still cheap.
Its 195/55/R15.

Btw, for me sometimes can't really compare tyre based on price. Cheaper sometime better. Expensive just because its imported or brand.

Hello all, sorry for the late reply. I have decided to change the new tyre Ecopia EP200, 195/55R15 bought for RM175 for four tyres, RM700 in total + RM20 Nitro Gas + FOC Alignment.

I am sharing my experience based on Bridgestone Potenza Tyre, which comes originally with my Vios previously.

Of course, comparing both of the prices, these 2 tyres are definitely 2 very big different range of tyre. It is not as stable as Potenza, can't cut corner as well as Potenza. However, if you talk about quiet-ness, it is definitely much better. I am quite surprised with the noise reduction after changing this tyre. I felt more bumpy & uneven road with this tyre.

I felt it was really value for money, factoring in the price I get with the comfort level I get.

My friend who change as the same time with me, driving a Pesona, has very big difference when it comes to consumption of petrol. Previously he was getting 350KM per tank, now he can travel more than 400KM, which I think is a great improvement in Petrol Consumption. I'm not very sure what brand he used previously, he was saying cornering, driving in the rain is much better compare to his old tyre. He is one satisfied customer!

I drove my friend's Vios with Michelin XM2, who also just changed this recently. I felt that BS EP200 is slightly more quiet compared to XM2, whereas XM2 has the advantage in cornering and stability.

HI all,

I too had recently (5 days ago) changed my Honda Jass all 4 new tyre Ecopia EP200, 195/55R15. Before this I'm using Falken ZIEX ZE912 195/50R15 ... After trying out the new EP200 ... I feel the whole new level of comfort in driving & quite surprised with the noise reduction of this new tyre as well. As fpr cornering, breaking & stability I personally give 4/5 star it apply on both wet & dry road.

Let for sure I'm 1 happy customer with this new tyre of mine.

Hope it help.

just to share, i just changed two of my front tyre to this Bridgestone Ecopia EP200 (195/55/r15) on my waja for RM185 each in penang. don't forget to claim the rm30 petronas gift card if u change four of them.

reason to change:
-my previous GoodYear NCT 5 side face is tearing very badly. asked the mechanic, they say it is too soft to handle the harsh road

experience after change:
-feel the car is lighter
-when cornering, feel the tyre is not grippy enough on the ground, maybe im alrdy get used to the old tyre.

-feel lighter should means the rolling resistance is lower than NCT5
-not grippy enough should means the cornering ability is lower than NCT5

pretty much what i expected from a ECO tyre, which fast driving / cornering is not its strong point.

how about noise level compared to NCT5??

i dint notice the noise level of both of them, but i think both of them also not noisy. ep200 face design reduce the noise level and the softness of nct 5 probably also reduce the noise. overall i dint feel them noisy or maybe the waja engine noise is noisier then them.. lol biggrin.gif

Try check the air pressure. Cos my after change they pump very high.

I feel the grip is definitely much better than NCT5.

just my humble review for ep200 after almost 1 month of usage and clocked about 1000km++ on it

1. noise is quite a surprise for me, nearly no tyre noise at all during <80km/h, but abit of tyre noise can be hear when going >80km/h on rough tar surface
2. comfort level wise, my car with full passenger (3 xxxl sized adult LOL) going from KL to Melaka and tried 140km/h cruise comfortably with no complaint from all my passenger
3. dry grip and wet grip is so-so but still ok for me
4. FC still under monitoring

Overall, a very good tyre but it's meant for aggressive driving... laugh.gif

Look for the Website on Bridgestone webpage.
The tyres listed usually cheaper than other shops as I survey more than 10 shops and their price listed below are cheaper.

I was one of the person who searched for ep200 review before this.

Now i've changed 4 of my tyres to ep200 a month ago, 195/55/15.
Rm170 each, at klang area.

In terms of Quietness, Comfort, and Handling - I think they are all acceptable, as I bought my secondhand car that came with 4 different tyres (3 same 1 different). So I can't really compare them as my old tyres was seriously noisy, and I upgraded from 14'' to 15'' rim so can't really compare the comfort and handling as well.

Everything is good about this tyre in terms of the performance and price.

One thing that depends on ur luck is whether u get a really balance tyre.

I had a problem with the tyre tread, it causes ur car either slightly slanted to left or right, (even if ur alignment is perfectly done), normally foreman will exchange ur left and right tyre and the problem will be solved. Yet mine is still have the problem although my tyres were being changed a few times (exchange among front and rear left right).

As what the foreman told me, that every tyre is actually imbalance when they being produced out from the factory, so this is the common problem that we might encounter. I think this may be the reason that why this tyre can be that affordable, might because of the QC is low.

After all, this is still a good tyre so far, and guess there will just be very low percentage who being unlucky as me.

If you are looking for affordable with quiet and comfort, you can give it a shot. nod.gif

Do take note that the thread at the corner of EP200 for my tire size (185/65R14) is a bit different from the advertisement.

I think I've shared enough of my experience.
*
Exactly, its so different. I upload a pic later this weekend. And i wonder the difference will impair its effectiveness in aquaplaning.

Wow... I didn't know that this thread is still active to date.

Rubber market price dropped a lot recently and I heard it might drop even more this year. That's why you get roughly 20% - 30% discount compared to Q4 2013.

As a user of this tyre for almost 15 months and travelled at least 31k km (edit from 22k), I'll summarized my experience with this tyre below:
Pros:
1. Performing well when the tyres still have 100% to approx. 75% thread (edit from 70%).
2. Considered quiet even until now which left around 43% thread (edit from 38%). (Yes, I'm still using them).
3. Save a little petrol.
4. Acceptable stopping power, even in some of the low speed (around 40km/h) emergency brake.
5. I feel that the car has lower FC when driving on wet tar road (raining).
6. Aquaplaning is acceptable for my driving style.
7. Cornering is considered good for energy efficient tyres. (It was better than AR10 when it was new. Performance dropped as the thread wears off. AR10 was more consistent.)
8. During Nov 2013, it was only RM160 per piece.

Cons:
1. Hard compound and hard sidewall = less comfort on Malaysia's road with tons of hidden holes.
2. Need more effort to brake. This is expected from energy efficient tyre.
3. Make a lot of squeaking noise on cement road (parking lot).
4. Occasionally, skid a little on wet surface. (Eg: When stopping down to get parking ticket while entering parking lot. It was raining and the cement road was wet. It happened to me once.)
5. Getting more slippery now with around 38% thread left. Have to be more light footed in cornering during rain.
6. Save a little petrol. I was expecting it to save a lot more petrol to compensate the sacrifices in grip as well as other performance.

Before you ask me whether I'll consider to replace with similar tyre when it's time to change, the answer is "NO". First of all, I want to explore other tyres due to I haven't found a suitable one till today. Partly because tyre technology is advancing every year. Besides that, this is the first time I'm using energy efficient tyres and I realise that EP200 occasionally skid issue (although just a little bit) is causing me to cut away a lot of points.

I'm considering to change to the Pirelli P1, 185/60 R14 (not many choices for 14"). I was told that this tyre has very good aquaplaning, control and good thread wear. However, Pirelli tyres are well known for being more noisy.

Thanks. It's my pleasure.

For 185/60 R14, I've used Yokohama A. Drive before which is now replaced by Yokohama Blue Earth AE01. If it's similar to A. Drive, you may consider my experience with the tyre below (if I remember correctly):

Pros:
1. Soft tyre = Nice grip on dry road.
2. Soft tyre = Quiet.
3. Soft tyre = Help to absorb a bit of impact from holes.
4. Good stopping power.

Cons:
1. The Pros from #1 to #4 became the opposite gradually as the thread wear off and rubber hardens.
2. I still remember that the noise was unbearable and tyre getting more slippery when there was around 45% thread left.
3. Aquaplaning is worse than Bridgestone AR10 and EP200.
4. Thread wore off quite fast but not as speedy as the Goodyear NCT 5.

Additional note: A worker at the tyre shop shared his experience with me in regards to the Yokohama A. Drive R1 which he was using. He told me that he regretted as the tyre was super noisy even when brand new.

So far in my experience, I prefer Bridgestone AR10 among the rest which I've used. Performance is good, consistent and thread wear is not bad (but I don't think it's as high mileage as EP200). 2nd to that is the EP200. I have a feeling that Pirelli P1 could be the one above AR10 and EP200 except noise level.

AFAIK, Bluearth AE01 is a completely different line up in which the A drive is still in production (as with A drive R1):
http://www.yokohamatire.jp/yrc/japan/searchbytirebrand.html
japan don't seem to be selling a drive/a drive r1/c drive/c drive 2 so Yokohama australia lol:
http://www.yokohama.com.au/Tyres/A-Drive.aspx

anyways i've personally used a drive and AE01 myself, albeit both are on different cars, they are vastly different.
to put into perspective, the ae01 on the sentra is 195/60/15, while the a drive on the iswara was 175/70/13 and funnily, the ae01 is much lighter in weight, and waaayyyy softer.

it's like the tire is made out of fluff or something, like you're driving on pillows.

performance is ok if you're driving civilly, although i hate the steering response due to the damn soft sidewall. (could be biased as i'm someone who's own TWO sets of Advan Neova AD08R separately on my iswara and Inspira.)

personally, i find the A drive being rubbish aside from being dirt cheap smile.gif
another thing to note, the worker at the tyre shop could be very misinformed as a drive r1 is an entry level sport tire (below S drive), similarly to the ATR sport:
http://global.yokohamatire.net/products/adrive_r1.html
in my experience, almost all directional tires tend to be worse on NVH.
so there you go smile.gif

Thanks for sharing bro. Looks like you have a lot of different cars at home. notworthy.gif

My experience is based on the same car with different tyres only. wink.gif

Anyway, I believe every tyre out there fits a purpose and targeting different user.

np, not entirely my cars, however i do maintain them since females (majority anyways) don't really care about automotive lol.
my own ones are the iswara/inspira biggrin.gif

most of my experience are very limited to Yokohama since i tend to visit nestum lol
hence i tend to explore/gather various feedbacks from other brands that i am intrigued with, such as Michelin/Bridgestone in particular.
not exactly fond of the XM2, so ecopia ep200 is a good alternative.

on the extreme categories i am looking forward to the dunlop direzza zii star spec biggrin.gif

I felt that BS EP200 is slightly more quiet compared to XM2, whereas XM2 has the advantage in cornering and stability.

bro , please pm the shop to change the tyre too..i got quoted 195/60/r15 rm200

anyone here had any idea approximate how many km's EP200 can travel ?
im currently running on a 205/50R16 Falken ZE522 which i did 22k.

Due to my workload that need me to travel around peninsular, therefore durability and fuel efficient are my main concern. Average 110 - 140 km/p highway drive.

My budget would be not more than 250 per piece.
Any good recommendation out there as i might change mine tyres soon.

Try yo use yokohama c-drive 2.i just change all 4 tyre 2 month ago.this tyre price is below rm200.the performance is very good on dry or wet road.i try hard cornering also no tyre sound coming out.only the bad of this tyre is little bit noise because of rough pattern tyre.so far till now the tyre still like new.

bought ep200 for 160 per pc. Traded in my old turanza for 20 per pc. Size is 185.60.14. Balancing free while alignment is 20 per car. Price is reasonable compared to some of the shops in pj asking for 190 onwards.

Real lousy tyres!!

Now that I have gotten that out of my system, let me share some thoughts.

Tyres Used:
Bridgestone Ecopia E200 215/55/17, used for 1.5 months
Michelin XM2 205/55/16, current set used for 9 months

1. I see various comparisons of Bridgestone Ecopia E200 with XM2, that is an absolute joke! If you exclude price there is absolutely no reason to put the 2 tyres together.

2. My experience with the Bridgestone Ecopia tyre:
Pros:
- Cheap (but for the experience it's very low value)

Cons:
- NOISE: this is my biggest gripe, the tyres are NOISY! mine is less than 2 months yet in the cabin you can really hear the tyre humming loudly. Dont have that on my XM2.
- Bad design. After less than 2 months use, the wear on the side threads makes it look like a really worn tyre. Not sure how it affects cornering grip but darn't try.
- Heavy: even on day of my tyre change, lifting both old tyre (Toyo) and the Bridgestone, I realised that the Bridgestone is much heavier. Then, I put it to maybe the old one is used hence lighter. But I recently lifted a Korean tyre and even that seems a bit lighter. Maybe it's because of the ECO thingy.
- Grip: not as confidence inspiring as the XM.

I would absolutely not recommend this Bridgestone. The noise alone makes it unworthy.

Good luck.

Your own review seems to indicate that your tyre is not probably inflated or the alignment is totally out, and hence the "the wear on the side threads makes it look like a really worn tyre"

And therefore it doesn't sounds like a just review for any brand of tyre.

I got 4 pieces at RM150 each, 185/60/14. Includes balancing and alignment as well. So far so good these tyres, they're quite grippy for eco tyres i feel.

Just bagged a set of ep200 185/55/16 for the Honda city. haven't really put much mileage on it yet but seems like a nice ride back home. It's quieter than the old goodyear assurance by about a couple of db's. Will see how they sound on the highway.

Hii, ok just went to a tyre shop to check the price of Bridgestone Ecopia. Quoted RM200 per pc, default size 185/55 R16. Is it a good price..?

Cheaper than XM2 and tempted to try this. My factory tyres Bridgestone Turanza very noisy and almost worn out. . .

just my humble review for ep200 after almost 1 month of usage and clocked about 1000km++ on it

1. noise is quite a surprise for me, nearly no tyre noise at all during <80km/h, but abit of tyre noise can be hear when going >80km/h on rough tar surface
2. comfort level wise, my car with full passenger (3 xxxl sized adult LOL) going from KL to Melaka and tried 140km/h cruise comfortably with no complaint from all my passenger
3. dry grip and wet grip is so-so but still ok for me
4. FC still under monitoring

Overall, a very good tyre but it's meant for aggressive driving...  laugh.gif

Replaced these tires early part of 2015 ran them about 25000km and two of them are almost bald while the other two are still acceptaBle .
These tires do help save fuel by having low rolling resistance but my god do they wear quick .
But their performance is very good especially few months back during a downpour on the motorway . I emergency braked and these tires stopped in a dime. Like the moment I floored the brakes I was almost stopped immediately from 80+ km/h bear in mind this was wet weather smile.gif quite amazed by this so wanted to share. During this maneuver the thread was about 50% worn evenly
Now though with the rear at 20% it's aquaplaning when hitting slight puddles at 80.
But the dry grip is still great. Went up and down venting fully confident .

Replaced these tires early part of 2015 ran them about 25000km and two of them are almost bald while the other two are still acceptaBle .
These tires do help save fuel by having low rolling resistance but my god do they wear quick .
But their performance is very good especially few months back during a downpour on the motorway . I emergency braked and these tires stopped in a dime. i rotate every 10k km or every service if you would. i think due to the fact that i installed anti roll bar on the front suspension mounts this reduces the car flexing and therefore preserved the front tires very well i must say. the way i drive the tires still seem healthy with deep threads whereas the rear i did not install and therefore it wore very drastically. previous tires before these i did not install anti roll bar they wore evenly. i asked my mechanic if there was problem with my rear camber or suspension he said no. so yeah.. i would recommend installing anti roll bar.
