go renew la.. since u afford to travel but can't afford to renew?  hmm.gif

I didn't recall saying money was the issue.. hmm.gif

I was just abit lazy to go to deal with the immigration...

QUOTE(ISFJ @ Nov 12 2014, 02:35 PM)
Better to renew your passport to avoid any trouble with the immigration later on. Imagine all the failed plans when you're denied travel. Passport renewal only takes 2 hours these days, pretty convenient  smile.gif

seems like it leaves no choice to me... gonna get it renewed then. thanks of the advice wink.gif

Mollai, so far it's been a bitter winter with afternoons at -2 degrees and nites at -9 degrees. It's oh so cold and dry. But I've noted that if you have a good winter (bulky) jacket, nothing much gets thru. Still stay warm. But if you wanna be cool like koreans with fashion...then probably suffer a bit  wink.gif  wink.gif
*
awww.. My korean friend told me that this year winter is pretty cold too.

Anyone used heat patches before? any idea where can I buy in M'sia

anyone know about the tax refund process?

There was one day I was shopping in a department store and bought some skin care. The staff told me can get tax refunded so I went to a counter and got it refunded. However, I was being told that I need to declare my items at the customs in the airport before check in, which I didnt because I saw a long queue.

Anyone know what will happen next? lol

Tax refund this year at SIA is very easy and convenient.

1. Go check-in your luggage and get your boarding pass at your airline.
2. during check-in, inform the receptionist serving you that which bag you need to take it for tax refund purpose.
3. At Tax refund counter, present your TAX REFUND receipt properly (not in a bunch but a single lane on the table).
4. After that, drop your check-in luggage to the right conveyor belt (oversize)
5. On d Left of the TAX REFUND COUNTER, got few machine and friendly fluent Mandarin speaker assistant to guide you to use the machine.
6. Put your passport into the machine and start scanning your TAX refund receipt.
7. So after scanning all your receipt (the tax refund amount and receipt has been store in their system via your passport), you can go through the Custom.
8. Inside, forget which gate already, got TAX REFUND MACHINE, put your passport and the receipt again to get your $$.

Note: some receipt still require you to get your refund at the Counter (manual style).

anyhow, the staffs at the tax refund machine is very friendly and helpful. you just need to get the Tax Officer to stamp your receipts to get it going.

Able to get back around KRW150k and my gf bought a 'Horse' (Lapalette) handbag with it lulz.

Thank you so much for responding...but unfortunately, I was already back in M'sia, and I didn't went to the tax refund counter. I got the cash refund from Doota dept store, but due to that I didn't declare in the airport, I'm now being charged back for the refund and a fine amount.

Can anyone recommend me which are to stay in Seoul?

I would do the ritual sight seeing in Gyeongbokgung, eat seafood in Noryangjin etc..But I also like drinking and hanging out. >.<

I see yvonne recommends Myeongdong. But I've read Hongdae has more transits, which may be more convenient. Please advise meeeee

it's still far away and acuweather is not accurate. accurate is only within 1 week while the others is roughly estimation. 15 oct until when?? it start to get colder and when the wind blow, it can me worst  whistling.gif. i suggest you bring more warmer clothing for your baby. which part of Korea you going? it also depends..
are you first time to Seoul? since you wanna visit sight seeing, i would suggest Myeongdong as it's nearby to most attractions. save your time. else you stay two sides and slowly explore tongue.gif

Hongdae is a little further away from town and i can tell you their subway is very crowded (no matter what time)  whistling.gif guesthouse mostly distance from hongik subway unless airport subway. but it's a distance from hongdae main place but is nearer to airport. or if you wanna save, walk to seoul station via underpass  whistling.gif

what transit you mean? airport transit got la.. i suggest you check out the seoul subway map
*
Thanks for your suggestions.
The transit I meant is changing train lines.

it depends on where you wanna go. definitely have to change train lines if not in the same line. so plan your itinerary and go nearby area on same day. can save transportation and time. rather than ride the trains from north to west than north again and south. hopefully you get what i mean hahaha
*
I get what you mean and I might consider....but I lazy wanna move my lugguage again..hahaha...

lol. than i suggest you stay in Myeongdong. you won't regret as the walking distance to Myeongdong and subway is very near.

tips: Namsan Guesthouse 3 or Zaza Backpacker 1

if in the end, you still decided to stay in Hongdae area, do let me know. i suggest you a guesthouse if you want  whistling.gif

suggest you book early. last minute usually no room especially those very good reputation one
*
Stay in guesthouse good meh?
I'm going alone..so i was thinking maybe rent from airbnb.

Also I'm considering whether i shall try staying in hankk for 1 or 2 nights..hmm

first of all, i didn't intend to argue with you and if my words offend you, i apologize. that is why i mention it's very cheap already. btw, it's a very common question. our RM drop drastically, 1000 won to RM 3.63 as today rate. fyi, it's higher cost of living in Korea. even in Msia, you imagine what kind of room does RM60 per night that you can get.. maybe coach surfing suits you. imho, if one don't even want to spend some basic or minimal $, than just don't go travel.

Chill chill..everyone has different style for travelling.

guesthouse in korea is very nice and clean. not those you imagine ler  laugh.gif

airbnb also almost the same price. if stay longer nights will be cheaper abit. if you are alone, maybe you stay in dorm or backpacker hostel with sharing bathroom. staying in hanok not cheap oh
*
Haha..i know guesthouse are clean. Just that I dont like sharing toilets, or sharing room like that. And their bed doesn't look like those super comfy beds.

Ok, i admit i have a thing for bed when I travel. blush.gif Some airbnb listings i see their bed looks so comfy. But one thing is I havent decide which area to stay. I even looked around in Agoda, some hotels are also not very expensive too. Now i am cracking my head, cz i still cant decide the area.

Hanok is not cheap, but good experience i guess. So I am thinking whether it is worth me shifting my luggage here and there.

yeah some people don't like sharing bathroom. same as me tongue.gif but there are some guesthouse with ensuite bathroom, price wise of cause higher.

i think you better plan which area you prefer than only decide for place to stay. you can find most hanok stay located at Bukchon and Insadong area. you may wanna survey it smile.gif if you visit Seoul for many days it's ok if your luggage is not big however many road in Seoul is quite hilly. subway more stairs and less elevator. you need to take this as consideration too
just bring your own unless you want to buy specific brand that don't have in Msia
you mean RM3k per person? if yes, it's enough
*
yessss..that is why I'm contemplating..HAHAHA..

maybe i'll pass for Hanok..it's just like our kampung houses isn't it... hmm.

maybe you can try hanok stay around Bukchon or Insadong area as anniversary treat for your wife  thumbup.gif

or want to have more fantasy abit try out unique design room  tongue.gif

I gave up on hanok...because it looks like just sleeping on floor. Although my korean friend says he enjoys sleeping on floor more than on bed. lol

i thought you know from the beginning..  tongue.gif  yeah actually just like a futon on the heated floor  biggrin.gif  actually i tried before, and it's quite comfortable though
*
I knew from beginning sleeping on the floor..

but now i only know that it is on heated floor.. >.<
I thought it was just like a futon on floor, then nothing much la, just like some sleepovers not enough space sleep on mattress on floor.. haha

Btw, any good places to intro? Like must have food in Seoul?
To me, my must have is their pork bbq.
