There are many brands in the market that are promoting self cleaning hoods or auto clean hoods. Mainly two method, Steam or Heat and mainly to target the sirocco fan only and not to clean the entire hood. Customers tend to think the self cleaning will magically clean the inside like brand new. Here is a video how i clean my FOTILE AMG9007i (my family cook lunch n dinner for almost everyday, heavy usage). You can see that not much oil at the sirocco fan as it is non stick coated but the grease build up at the outside of the fan. As the FAN blade is non stick, with high speed rotation, most of the oil will just slide away and stick on the chamber. As shown in video, even degreaser is unable to clean the grease, you need to scrape it instead, so no self cleaning hood is able to clean the inside but just to reduce a little oil that is sticking on the fan blades.

Can make a video on how to dismantle the hood motor for Fotile JQG9009T for cleaning ? Your earlier videos is just the surface cleaning on the outside / grill. Bought from your ex-Kepong Baru shop around 2+ years ago. Thanks

Finally have free time of ~4 hours to dismantle and do a thorough cleaning of Fotile JQG9009T

Require DIY skill and that front panel piece is the biggest and heaviest, with 3x wire attachment as in the video.

Few things I notice:
- even use soft brush & hot water (not yet apply soap/degreaser), some of the black paint peel off from the impaler-fan, the front removable black metal-grille
- The amount of oil/grease at the bottom inside panel can fill up quarter bottle peanut butter jam shocking.gif
- There is still a lot of grease stuck inside the upper hood towards the ducting, just spray some degreaser, spray with hot water (remember have something to collect the water & oil down below), wipe a bit only.
- I didn't take down the ducting or clean the upper hood.
- The centre impaler nut, was brownish in colour. Clean as much as possible but still some thin layer of yellowish stain, good enough already.

Tips: Easier to dip in hot water to wash off the oil/grease before degreasing it.

End result - looks like new. But you can see some black paint peel off already.

I'm a bit OCD, take my own time using several old toothbrush and degreaser. If cincai clean maybe 2 hours done. But tired already just do my best.

Forgot how many years, bought that time during MCO at your Kepong Baru old shop facing main road. That time you partial close the front main door because relaxed MCO. Maybe 2+ years.

Once a day standard Chinese style cooking, frying for 3-4 dishes every day. I were using exhaust fan previously and all coated with oil and thick grease. Nowadays no more.
