Hi, I need some advice about cooker hood. I found that most of the hoods are chimney types. I'm planning to have top kitchen cabinets and want to hide the chimney inside the cabinet. Can I remove the chimney part?

I'm planning to use a 60cm wide induction cooker. Should I use a 60cm or 90cm wide hood? I've seen Fotile EH10BQ and found that the lights are on the side. I think they won't be of much use since my hob is only 60cm.

Any recommendations for a suitable hood?

I use Fujioh. Very satisfied with its performance. My ducting is more than 10' (beyond recommended) but the suction is still good. Normally just use the lowest speed 1. No smell inside house. Easy to clean and maintain. My hobs are modular type so I use model FUJIOH MF 1100V. I would recommend in your case FUJIOH GFP 900V/R (90cm)

That is my main concern from what you claim on knock your head.

So we consider this design, quite well and look nicer.
Even the gas delivery guy said, where we get it?

Cause in s'pore not common ppls who used it type at all.

This is not something new. I think this perhaps copy the Japanese Fujioh brand that has been around for probably 10 years wink.gif

Agak2 based on floor plan it's 7 metres  sweat.gif

I think I just answered my own question... Sad if have to use recirculating  sad.gif
*
Recirculating is not something desirable, at least for me. Need to clean and replace filter and usually still cannot remove odor I think.

For your 7m, probably the hood location is not at 7m. How many bend. My hood also do not recommend long run but I'm glad I never follow. Mine is about 20' with 1 bend at the hood there

Vertically 1 metre then a 90 deg bend. Then a 5m straight, another 90 deg and 2 metres straight to outside.

Haih... Super bad layout by developer... They gave FOC a Rubine recirculating hood and induction hob, which I think they're trying to tell us buyers something...

5m probably to right or left and then 2m up(?). Can't imagine going where. Roof? You plan for ventilating with which hood brand?

From hood goes up to ceiling approx 1 m
Then goes out to the yard around 5m
Then turn left and go straight another 2m out via yard balcony

Looking at Fotile lo, since bro zheilwene's video so convincing  whistling.gif

If you plan to put in-line booster fan, just make sure the hood you use can get rid of the oil vapor before entering the via duct. Otherwise, the fan will accumulate oil in long run. That airegard is not designed for that, I believe. It is for pure air circulation.

Maybe you can just try without it first. It might just work without additional boost since air is not much of a load anyway. The performance drop might be not that significant. Which Fotile model you were looking at?

Just get those 1' normal exhaust fan will do. Panasonic, khind etc. Cheaper to replace. The oil will degrade the plastic fan blade after few yrs. Unless you clean it frequently. Or look for the metal fan blade. This exhaust fan is design for oil protect.

I think Zan81 was talking about the an in-duct fan booster, not the normal exhaust fan put on the wall

I am using ducted hood currently and smell still strong.
thanks for your info, will want to have a look at the new model later.  icon_idea.gif

Ducted hood no need filter since the smelly air is exhausted externally. The filter in the hood is for removing oil vapor from deposited inside the duct. If you really want a good hood, go for Fujioh. I use similar model like MF-1100. Almost no smell in kitchen and none go to living hall. No greasy surface in kitchen at all. Easy to maintain. Expensive, maybe but no regret at all. Bought it 10 years ago I think hmm.gif

For hood, i believe it is advisable to use duct type instead of flat or chimney without duct to external. Was my understand is true?

Need to get hob and hood before rent out my unit. Only those Morgan and Elba brand meet my budget. Rubine n Fotile is out of my reach.
*
I think many model out there and they cover wide price range. If you state your budget, maybe you get more suitable feedback

Now Promotion, RM1388 for both, quality not sure tho
*
Anyway, how bad it can be? If they are good for 3 years, then it would be 1388/36 = 38.56/month biggrin.gif

I think it can last at least 3 years since, the hood is just motor and the hob ... I dunno. nothing much there right? Sure it can last smile.gif

my home > 10 years hob is failing, planning to change to new one

it's a concrete top, so which part do I need to measure to plan for a new one?
surface length? or the hole size?  is depth also important?
*
I guess just take the measurement of your old hob. Everything. Hole size is very important but if cannot fit, it can be widened which is more troublesome.

In that case is it better to get a hob which has a bottom that is slightly smaller than the hole?

Am planning to get a 63cm x 34cm Rubine hob top to fit into a 65cm x 35cm hole. Would it move around once fitting in if there is that few cm gap?
*
That feww cm gap is just fine. Normally double sided tape is used to fix hob at its location. It is not just pit like that. NO need to be wide tape, but just 0.5 to 1 cm is just fine. My hob comes with tape,

Bought Livinox Mica, due to insufficient space,
do we have any alternative for ducting cap ?
can cut off the round curvy part ?
user posted image

found flat ducting cap but not sure is it suitable/workable for ducting hose..
user posted image

anyone got experience on this?
*
The main purpose is to prevent rain water from entering. If cannot use the round one that flat one will do just fine. Mine quite similar to that flat. No problem.

Ok tq

Will using a ceiling fan disturb cooker hood sucking?
*
It will not. Once fume is suck into hood, it goes through hood. The only way to disturb is to blow fan directly to your hobs smile.gif Ventilation or ceiling fan is far and not strong enough to disturb flow of air from hobs to hood.

do you guys install hood at wet kitchen with windows to the outdoor?
*
Installing hood with windows nearby? Then why need hob if can just use vent fan through the windows biggrin.gif

The reason for hood is to vent out cooking odor and oil/water vapor out of the kitchen. If you put your hood near the windows, the hood will not only suck air from the hobs but also from outside of the windows thus lowering the suction effectiveness.

I would put my hobs/hood away from windows. The best is to have one way air flow direction. Another reason to avoid hobs near windows is that I'd rather clean my flat splash wall than cleaning windows. It is much easier wink.gif

May I ask where did you get the flat cap ?
I only found it on Lazaxx and Shxpxx

Thank youuu

Mine came with the hood. I bought short aluminum flexible hose and then connect to a long PVC pipe (about 15') to the wall and put the cap out there smile.gif

Hi sifu, any 1 heard about vatti? planing get new hood & hob & the sales person very hard sales of this china brand, according to him vatti is among top 3 brand in china, same level with fortile & robam.
*
It is not about how good it is and very popular there. The most important thing is if anything wrong with it, can you easily get it serviced. How long the brand will survive here smile.gif

Dear all, I have shortlisted these 2 models. The hood will be boxed up by cabinet.

user posted image
T type:
Con: easy to knock the head, since I am using induction stove and max recommended distance of hood is 700mm from the stove. 700mm + 850mm (tabletop height) is rather low.

Pros: cheaper with higher airflow, quieter and lower motor wattage, cleaner although traditional look

Sloped:
Con: unsure of its performance as I've never used before.
Will it easily kena oil splash, say when deep frying something?

Pros: less likely to knock on it?
More modern design?

Which one is easier to clean and maintain? Any thoughts? TIA.
*
Easier to clean or not is a matter of design regardless which type you choose.

I think no matter what type of stove, the height rule probably the same. It is all about how the air flows inside the kitchen. Too far the cooking vapor get carried away before being suck into chimney. The windows too close, the hood is sucking external air but not the cooking vapor.

Noise is related to suction power which is depends on fan type and size. As you can see, the smaller fan makes more noise and bigger one laugh.gif

My hob is both induction and ceramic. I use modular type. So each one is independent. If anything wrong with power supply, I still have other hobs to use biggrin.gif I have been using the slant type hood. Most of the time I use speed 1 (very quiet) and have good suction. The kitchen cabinet is clean and never felt oily due to oil vapor. Well, my hood vents out air, not circulating anyway. Been using this for almost 20 years and extremely satisfied with it.
