Get one Mini modular, then you can save on the rest.  rclxms.gif Got include mini version 10182 and 10185 retired Modular sets  drool.gif
*
thinking of that before but it looks not very detail for me and the price for 1 mini modular top up 200+ can get a modular building biggrin.gif

QUOTE(bloodghost @ Jan 6 2014, 02:36 PM)
must add 10182 and 10185 into the list also if you are collecting modular tongue.gif
*
hoho although these sets are nice but the price is out of my mind smile.gif so started to collect those which haven't retired yet

QUOTE(Ultraman the great @ Jan 6 2014, 04:15 PM)
If you dont intend to complete and buy one after another, better not start. tongue.gif

older modulars RRP should be 800 up. PC is 650. rumour has it parisian is 700.
lego.com already solded out FB a couple of mths back. same story for amazon etc.

not everything is EOL yet. if you scared to lari ayam, try to buy the older ones first.
*
I plan to start from Fire Brigade, because the price for Cafe Corner, Street Market and Green Grocer is totally out of my budget. PC i saw most of the seller are selling at RM650 - 700 so the RRP is RM650?

QUOTE(Lego_Jason @ Jan 6 2014, 04:38 PM)
10197 Fire Brigade officially discontinued. RIP 31st Dec 2013. Of course production of the set would have stopped months before that... Having said that, you can still find it in the open market at decent prices... Don't think you can get it below RM700 anymore but RM800-900 would be a good price now me thinks. icon_rolleyes.gif

With Modular Buildings, unless you have deep pockets my advice to you is don't look back! Buy what's available now and make this your starting point in your Modular Buildings collection. nod.gif

My guess is 10211 Grand Emporium will be discontinued end of this year. So if you need to plan this will be my suggested list in order of priority:

10197 Fire Brigade (must buy in 1st half of 2014)
10211 Grand Emporium (must buy before 3rd quarter of 2014)
10218 Pet Shop (Preferably start shopping for it in last quarter of 2014)

Once you have the above you can take a breather and slowly buy the newer Modular Buildings one by one each year if you can tahan... lol!
It will reach Malaysia, don't worry about that part. Worry about the price only, at over 2k pieces this is Modular Buildings territory... unsure.gif

I am getting this set for sure, one set can complete an iconic Simpsons family collection already.  rclxms.gif

Damn!! My 2014 shopping list suddenly got much longer! Initially quite safe with only the 10243 Parisian Restaurant in my list. Then heard about the new trains and now this!! doh.gif
Thanks for your advice, I think i need to plan before buy or else every month i need to eat roti and drink milo for every meal cry.gif

Wonder what is the price for the Simpsons family set, but hopfully next series of CMF will be simpsons

I just pick up my Palace Cinema 10235 today for Rm599 from Toywiz @ Toy Garden Sg.Wang.  Yup SRP is RM650.  BBT had stock of it 10% discount for members a couple months back.  20 sets went off very quickly so I missed it.

Also while I was there was a 10223 Kingdoms Joust (retiring/retired not sure).  Picked it up today as well for Rm499.  SRP was Rm600.

Continuing my quest for the retiring/retired exclusive sets.

Then might pay a visit over there this weekend tongue.gif any other modular building other than Palace Cinema?? RM599 is the lowest price i'hv seen wonder what is their cost price hmm.gif

QUOTE(paanjang16 @ Jan 6 2014, 09:49 PM)
What a crazy first Monday of the year 2014. First the Simpsons house, then Alby tease us with a photo of the Parisian Restaurant!  sweat.gif

I was checking the internet in the morning before starting work only to see the Simpsons house. Although it looks bland but as a modular fan I will definitely get it, provided the price is ok.

Then during lunch hour I saw Alby's post about the Parisian Restaurant  shocking.gif Without wasting time I PM him.  sweat.gif I hope he dun mind me PM him for the PR. His poison was too strong!

For those who asked bout the modular buildings, like everyone has said, quickly get the Fire Brigade as soon as possible. Then move on to Grand Emporium followed by Pet Shop and Town Hall.

Word of caution, once start you cannot stop buying modulars! an old photo I took last year after I received by Palace Cinema. Once I get the Parisian Restaurant I might retake all of them again.

QUOTE(maxilife1 @ Jan 6 2014, 11:20 PM)
erm..was browsing brickset about shuttle space theme.. biggrin.gif

found 2 sets that looks the same.. 10213 (year 2010) and 10231 (year 2011)

but there is different (minimal) as from this video..

From Brickset confirming of the differenceses biggrin.gif

"Since its release in 2010, 10213 Shuttle Adventure has proven to be very popular! Although the model was designed for a 16+ target audience, our consumer call center has brought to our intention that many younger children have been building and playing with the model. As a result, the Direct team has decided to look at the model once more to see what changes could be made in order to provide a better build and play experience for a slightly younger target audience. 10231 Shuttle Expedition may look similar to Shuttle Adventure in many ways, however its build is very different and offers several advantages.

The fuel tank has been reinforced with supports to strengthen the assembly
The landing gear is strengthened to function better across many different floor types
The Cargo doors can now be more rigorously opened and closed
The entire build has been reworked to limit opportunities for misplacing elements
Astronauts now have wigs in addition to their helmets (1 male, 1 female). Face prints are also different.
The new set now has 1,230 elements
New Satellite can be securely positioned on the new mechanical arm 10231 Shuttle"

conclusion, get the latest one 10231 tongue.gif

This set currently e-bay selling at 2xx USD while after ship to malaysia price range around 7xx...but this is a very nice set to have...still regreting didn't get one for my self cry.gif

I just finished GE not long ago. No missing parts. 1 whole missing bag is eff-ed up!

If not mistaken,  saw a video where parts are filled by weight at the factory. That's why sometimes got extra parts.

Yah, 5 remotes in there from 4 Trains with power Functions and the 4x4 Crawler.  Actually only require 1 remote to control, just switch channels to control 4 trains x 2 other functions if connected to the IR receiver like lights etc.

Oh i see, so far never played before with those remote yet so know now much tongue.gif plan to modify my 42009 to RC but those needed parts are just too expansive for me so just cancel off
