FSP Hexa 500w should work. biggrin.gif Maybe I should give the FSP Hexa 500w + FX 8350 + R9 270X combo a try.

I also have the FSP Raider 650w which in my opinion is WAY better than the Hexa 500w.

I would suggest Super Flower Golden Green Power supply (Rated tier 2 Class A PSU). And do get the > 600W version, it is always good to have spare headroom for your PSU.

amd FX user sweat.gif need this 3 basic part on 1st place if wan gaming @ toying with system

if under low bujet and wan use pc for gaming only FSP Hexa 500w should can handle it but need
disable few core on FX 8350 like let it run just 4 core only .. which reducing power consumption / heat so it have extra room watt for gpu to kick ass

i have try it before on my old time fx8350+990fx+hd7950ghz ..setup and let it runinng about 3 month user .. nonting wired happen nod.gif

this setup just for person under low bujet @ plan used psu as backup unit/tempoary used oli... mybe around 1-2month.. before change to better one psu after got more cash money/rma psu come back home

if wan toying with hardware need find better psu

hmm.gif what model you mobo carry out?

HD 7970 Ghz Ed uses 2x 8pin PCI-E. So how did you power it with your Hexa that comes with 2x 6pin PCI-E only?

I don't wish to do this http://www.goldfries.com/computing/6pin-pc...e-modification/ cos leceh. biggrin.gif

Oh dear! You are using an FX8350 on a motherboard that has only 4 phase or 4+1 phase VRM. Usually for 8-"core" AMD FX processors, recommend using motherboards with at least 8-phase VRMs. Not recommended to use low budget boards for this processor... hmm.gif

Actually that AMD FX8350 can go further than that, up to 200W. And that that 125W is not its actual maximum wattage. Boards with inadequate VRMs (usually low budget ones) will throttle this processor to prevent the MOSFETs from blowing up. sweat.gif

It's not that it's not compatible but rather the FX 8 series is very demanding on the power delivery and those lower end boards don't deliver it too well and you may encounter issues during the course of use.

As goldfries mentioned, the power demands of AMD FX processors are too great for low budget boards with inadequate VRMs to handle. That "125W" TDP assumes that the cores are running at normal loads, but when pushed to almost 100% loads then that TDP is broken and the motherboard will start throttling to prevent the VRMs from failing (which can cause slowdowns, crashes, weird behaviour, and even shutdowns). Here is a recent example: Computers -> Technical Support -> HELP: My New PC always crash when after Full Load, HELP!!! (Hardware) the problems occurs when using Prime95 (which pushes the cores to almost 100%) with an AMD FX6300 on a low budget board with 3-phase VRM only(!). As mentioned in that thread, my recommendation is at least 4-phase VRM for 4-"core" and 6-"core" AMD FX processors, and at least 8-phase VRM for 8-"core" AMD FX processors... hmm.gif

Yups, you may have to consider higher end 990FX boards. If you want to use those AMD FX 8-"core" processors, then cannot skimp on motherboard quality (unlike Intel systems). icon_rolleyes.gif

I've had my share of VRM failures, especially when the 8 core series just got introduced.

My Phenom II X6 1100T killed the MSI 790FX-GD70 board a few times until I fed up to do RMA.

The 790FX-GD70 uses 4+1 phase VRM. No matter how I RMA it, my X6 1100T will trip the whole system once it goes full load.

I gave up. It now runs an Athlon II X3 425.

best buck vs perfomance should be from gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 (rev. 4.0)
http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-pa...pid=4672&dl=#ov

take note rev 4.0 is most stabil n less isuee than other rev

it will hit you wallet around rm 470-RM499
