and people on pokemon showdown are such sore losers. i just finished a battle with this guy, who was busy 3x nasty plotting his mega lucario (his last pokemon), while me (also on my last poke), a garchomp was choice banded stone edging it. I needed 4x stone edge to kill his lucario, but after his 3rd nasty plot i got a crit with my stone edge and i won.

he then proceeded to start spewing profanities at me like (fcking noobshit team, had nothing for mega lucario, won with a fcking lucky crit, dipshit team cant touch my mega lucario etc etc)

so i challenged him to another battle and this is what happened.

i sent out tyranitar, he sent out mega lucario

Him : Nasty plot

Me : Stealth rock (to which he said "that's right, stay in with a fcking tyranitar on a fighting type noob)

Him : Nasty plot

Me : Fire Blast (OHKO) (silence from him)

Him : Sends out espeon, uses wish)

Me : Dark pulse (crits, OHKO) (again silence)

Him : Sends out garchomp, uses dragon dance

Me : Ice Beam (again OHKO) (again silence)

Him : Sends out ferrothorn

Me : Fire Blast (OHKO)

Him : Sends out dragonite (dragon dance)

Me : Ice beam.

Him : Extremespeed (I survive on sash)

Me : Ice Beam (2HKO)

Him : Forfeit.

Then he proceeds to tell me i need to go back to school to "learn to play pokemon", "who the hell runs a special attacker tyranitar"

In total honesty, special tyranitars are not that uncommon, it can catch ppl off guard.

Pokemon Showdown the web battle simulator right? the player choose the Ivs and Evs right. In that case.. that guy really is just a poser.. I bet he just copy everything of smogon and hope to win everything..

Funnily enough, there are strategy for making a special tyranitar on smogon too. he just never consider that i guess, haha.

Rather than relying on sheer physical power to plough through teams, this set focuses on setting up Stealth Rock with ease while using its surprise factor to significantly damage common switch-ins. This set can outspeed common checks, such as Breloom, Scizor, Landorus-T and hit them with super effective moves, allowing Tyranitar to bluff a Choice Scarf set and start the game with a really good advantage. You would be wise to use this set only in offensive teams, as it is not intended to keep healthy for all the match but to set entry hazards and possibly mess up the momentum of weather teams.

Crunch works as the main STAB move to deal with Espeon and Xatu, two problems for other entry hazard-setting leads, and other Psychic-types. In the second slot, Fire Blast can OHKO Scizor, Breloom, Forretress (if Sturdy is not active) and Ferrothorn (which has a 45% of OHKOing without rain). Low Kick hits Terrakion, Heatran, and opposing Tyranitar, all important targets and common leads, without having the drawback of the drop in two stats that Superpower has; it 2HKOes the first two and OHKOes the latter. However, Tyranitar can run Ice Beam to always OHKO Landorus-T, Gliscor, Garchomp and other Dragon-types, and to 2HKO Donphan.

It is important to be aware that leads such as Focus Sash Terrakion and Garchomp are able to beat this set unless they use Stealth Rock first turn while Tyranitar uses Low Kick or Ice Beam and then KOes them second turn. Starting the game 6-5 with a 1 HP Tyranitar and no Stealth Rock is not a good situation, and should be avoided. That said, taking advantage of the team preview to identify if your opponent is using a dedicated lead that can put you in an immediate losing position helps, so you can save Tyranitar for later.



let test tyranitar with SPA, i tested HP ATK (farking useless) phy build

tested HP SPD very slow almost died also xD

I think this set up not so useful in this gen. maybe give the special tyranitar an Assault vest and four special moves and let it sweep.

stealth rock on vs talonflame but charlizard like immune

but sticky web kinda cool

that's where i got it from originally. but i replaced crunch with dark pulse. and 4 atk EVs into HP. I tested with assault vest also, but dies to fighting types. Sash guarantees at least one move goes out, be it stealth rock or to OHKO their lead.
