Hey guys! I will be away for vacation for 2 weeks. But here is the issue. I live alone and I have a car (Myvi). I'm wondering is it OKAY for the car if we don't start the engine for a long time e.g. 2 weeks? I don't have anyone to help me taking care of my car while I'm away, so it will left alone. Some people said it is not good for not "warming up" the engine because it may bring damage to it, but some people said it's OKAY as take for example, people who left their car at the airport, who is look after their car? Well, I'm confused. Anyone who has experience in this, please advise.

Getting Started

Just disconnect the car battery if you are paranoid. Only thing that can happen is a flat battery.

R U a lenglui ? if yes then we can help ..lol
No big deal lah ! at worst you need to bring the battery to re charge at battery shop, don't believe those crap that your battery need to change to new one, these fellow would took your old battery to re charge & sell off while earning money from selling u a new battery.
Usually 2 weeks should be still OK, if your parking lot is safe then don't activate the alarm (not that you can hear your alarm from oversea right ?) just lock your door using key, it should safe some battery juice, if your car already come with immobiliser then alarm is more of a deco anyway.
BTW where do live ? I may have place to earn some cny money selling Myvi airbags which is quite sough after in black market ...lol

For newer generation cars, their electronics will keep running and depleting the battery power. It is very likely your battery will be flat within 2 weeks and will need to jump start. Just make sure you are subscribed to AAM and they will despatch someone to jump start your car FOC in a jiffy. If your battery is more than 18 months old, it will probably KO and if it does, AAM will change a new one (at selling price). So nothing to worry, go and enjoy your holiday with a piece of mind. Cheers.

If your battery is dry type, not to worry since it can retain its charge for quit a long time. I used to left my car 1 month without anyone warming up the engine. So far so good.

2 weeks long? Our contis don't have a problem with 4 months without starting...
If it dies after 2 weeks, get your car checked. There will be a leak...

If you don't know how to do that, take your car battery to charge at a mechanic a week before you go for vacation.
