Yes, that is the + sign. If you dirty the boat he will scold one. So best is to keep it clean also when we go on his boat.

lol, that's probably why I shouldn't go... end up puking all over his boat, kena saboh sommore! tongue.gif wakakakkaa

Okay, maybe next month going again.
U all used to high end stuff ma.
Even my line also im still using mono  tongue.gif
By the way, do any of you have problems (finger pain due to abrasion) casting using braided? I think i might encounter that if i cast for many hours on braided.
*
bro, for trips like these to sek24 i'd pre-tape my fingers!! lol, after 8-10hrs... i'd end up with line burns, cuts ... throbbing thumbs!! lol, no choice but to do some preventive measures, wakakakkaaa

Its still ok to fish there for talapia now?
I saw their ad for fishing and now its RM53/rod. Last year it was RM50.
What's your experience there? I wanna try but need to take one day leave for this.
*
If it's fishvalley, i think their tilapia gets topped up quite often smile.gif rm7, per rod... but u pay for what u wanna take back lah, which is rather expensive!

Thanks inv.
So it seems I will need a grip only.
The reason I asked about the lures is because of the large  variety you can find in a tackle shop. Thirty years ago, you only had some spoons and maybe plastic frogs only.
I will probably cast and retrieve so was looking at some lures i could keep in my bag.
Thought if there were some favorites you could recommend...read about Berkley Powerbait Rattle shrimp or Rapala rattling rap...are these any good?
May also jalan2 cari haruan, so was hoping for some suggestions for best type of plastic frogs to get....so many type of frogs nowadays?
I suppose a spinner would be good to have as well...
Thanks again..

can't go wrong with the weighted red paddle tailed soft plastics, can't remember the names ~ rm 9 for pack of 3s, or 5 depending on size (white rabbit i think) ; I'd go for the bigger size, less bite rates but mostly biggies! Great for the siakap pond! no harm trying the ubiquitous berkley white grubs too!

oh yeah, remove the trebles and stick with single barb-less hooks, otherwise u'd end up with too much fish if u'd CNK

ps. dun't get those with the curly longer tails, siakaps would end up whacking the tail bits n not the entire fish, and u'd end up with lots of nibbles and no hookups!

4. anything I should do to new rod and reel before using?
tip from an old tackleshop owner, use candle wax for your two piece, rub a candle on the tip of your connection point so that your top piece doesn't come flying out! smile.gif

QUOTE(judesh @ Apr 25 2016, 04:07 PM)
Not wanting to bore all you experts here, but I thought I owed some writing after all the advise from you guys...
Managed to make 2 trips to Jugra , the first on a saturday in early April...Met a guy Faisal who was as early as me ...710 am...and he showed me around the 3 ponds...
Gave me some tips for bait and suggested the 2" Berkley SP shad which I had...
Hooked 3 Siakap around 800 g-1 kg size... a few misses due to my inexperience.
Switched over to the Kerapu pond and got a 3kg one....berat tapi tarik macam tunggul je...
Had to cut the line as he had swallowed it deep...the caretaker helped release the hook...
Tried this same bait at the GT / Tandan pond but with no success. Faisal said that the sp would be suitable here but I didn't have the jig hook so couldn't use...
All in all ...good 21/2 hrs for RM 45
After that got jig hook for my next trip and changed to having a snap directly on my main line...used a short fluoro leader for all the baits so if the fish swallowed i could just replace this...earlier I had the snap at the end of the leader connecting directly to the lure...
Second trip last saturday....
Used the sp shad and hinomiya 9cm shrimp at the Siakap pond... hooked 4 around 800g-1kg with 3 misses in 2 hrs...
Switched over to the GT / Tandan pond using white sp...had a few misses but just at the end of the hour hooked a 4kg Tandan.....Wow...exciting...tarik memang best...
again RM50 well spent for the 3 hours....
Made a 52 yr old feel like a kid, now trying to find excuse to go there again..
Some thoughts...artificial lures nowadays are really great...the way they move...how the hell they get the prawn to swim so upright..the shad too...but the one that impressed the most was the sp...just reel and the tail movement really tempting to a fish...
I really need to get some lessons on releasing the hook on siakap, had small cuts on my palm just holding the fish down...
The caretaker said they maintain 25 larger siakap in the pond...any idea what bait is suitable coz everyone seemed to catch the small ones..or is it the timing?
I will stick to the Tandan and Siakap as I love the way they fight..
Once again everyone... thanks for the advice and I hope didn't bore all you experts with this long post..

Lol, good for u bro... Next place to attempt is Exotic Rawang!! smile.gif

Anyone can recommend a place for fishing around PJ . my nephew 10 years old has been bugging me to take him fishing for almost a month now.

have been taking him to Puchong lake before but he's sick of catching catfish.
Can't take him to sek24 cause he would probably catch, kill, eat.

What fishy they have at bukit Jalil fish pond?
any saltwater paypond around?

Thanks for any help.

Worth trying out Taman U sw pond, rm50 for 3hrs, CNK. For newbies, nothing beats FishValley's rm7 pond smile.gif

Or go Jugra lah, there's the ultimate newbie pond! sure come back with something wan tongue.gif lol

Thanks for the recomendations. I frequent jugra almost twice a month for their rm50 3 hours competition. Managed to walk away with rm200 and a bunch load of barra last time. tongue.gif
Like the review on Tmn U and so I will try out Tmn U as it's nearer, easy for food when he gets hungry and more variety of fishes for him.
Thank you so much.
Edit: How do you fish at Jugra? float, under water apollo or cast? I find float gets me better results. but the leader needs to run deep.
*
Lol, mostly casting. If they fishes don't bite, then no choice but prawns n dead kembong! tongue.gif very effective for the groupers! I mostly CNK a few, hence the reason i don't go by that often, lol!

Went to S24 today instead of Exotic because of low funds but still want to fish.
Quite many ppl at the pond as usual and i brought up 4 Mekongs. Seem like they are stocking these more these days.

My rod actually took a dive lol but luckliy i was using a float so i knew where the rod was and a pakcil helped me to retrieve it back. Another rod which i brought had the ring broken zz.

Good experience but with s24 you need to have the correct bait because their tastebuds change day to day.
*
sek24 always good fun! Did u have to use anything special for the mekongs or only used the pond's recipe to land them?

It wasnt always “good fun” for me.
The last time i went there using the exact same bait, nothing bit despite sitting for almost 8 hours.
You can imagine my frustration.

charlie just stocked up his pond. there are about 6 big mofo pacu and >10 patin weighin in around 9kgs.

here are some tips at fishing at Laguna kelana jaya

1 - bring mosquito repellant
2 - RM 18 fish until u muak. No time limit until they close.
3 - opening hours are from 4pm-5am but they usually close early coz the crowd is less
4 - water is deep fish are decent sized
5 - there are snakes and monitor lizards and cats. be alert.
6 - Kantin food and drinks available, if u intend to order food, make sure tell kakak, KURANG MASIN! BE WARNED!
7 - bait or accessories not sold here. come prepared.
8 - bring own rod stand. none provided.
9 - bring your own lights. only certain segments of the pond have lights and pretty insufficient.
10 - Bread and 920 is recommended. No need flavored. cook and pop in and done.
11 - only tilapia can bring back. There are many. REally many tilapia.
12 - Floater is permitted. 75m neon is sufficient.
13 - wherever u sit, cast towards the kantin. not in the middle but towards the kantin.
14 - chairs are broken, bring your own.
15 - feel free to pee everywhere, no toilets
