Back when Sony Malaysia first announced the PS4 price, I vow not to buy from them. But seems like we might not have a choice now. After reading all 17 pages of this topic, seems like Sony Malaysia will only honour the warranty for console purchased either directly from them OR consoles purchased from Sony in another SEA country. They will however accept the warranty for consoles purchased from resellers or regular shops but requires much ding-dong-ding-dong.

But having said that, neither Sony Malaysia or local resellers/shops has the solution to BLOD yet. Why? Coz the only solution for BLOD now is 1-to-1 exchange and they are all out of stock. Therefore, the 'technician diagnostics' is just another way to stall.

Mine bought from Sony during the 1st batch, receive the unit on Friday and BLOD when i start it up.
I know how it feel when things doesnt go the way you wanted. From excited to frustrated.
The next day when to KLCC, the staff at Sony Service Center want me to give it them for diagnostic for at least 7 days. I refuse.
Then I went to Sony The Curve, they give me a replacement unit with on the spot testing. Feel very happy like a kid with a new toy.
At that moment the PS4 buffer stock is not much. So for replacement it's basically 1st come 1st serve.
But it kinda hassle for me and them actually,I need the to prepare the invoice, IC before proceed with anything. They had to call their boss and almost everyone related to Sony.
It seems Sony Store, Sony Online Store and Playstation is not in the same page and disjointed.

Thanks for Sony The Curve Guys, especially the Tim Lim, Khairil and the 'other guys'-i cant recall his name. Awesome team.

Support you bro! If your case success, it will become one good case study for those who dont know WTF is SEA Regional Warranty. rclxms.gif

Well, I bought from Sony Online on the 2nd day they announce the preorder for PS4.
Receive the PS4 around noon (launch day), turn it on around 9pm-unit faulty.
Went to KLCC on Saturday.
Since it is an online order they have some problem in verifying my purchase and KLCC store cant do much about it since its Saturday and CIC is close (2nd day of the launch date).
But at the Curve, the guys there start to call their bosses and sony service center staff when I request for an exchange.
One of their superior there seems to take the initiative and request for my PO, DO and IC.
Then they change the unit. But the buffer unit is not plenty and i guess it is below 10 unit per store. Same as KLCC.
I am the 3rd guy in The Curve since the launch date that request for replacement unit. 1 guy with faulty BD unit.
in KLCC on that saturday was 3 guy with me requesting for replacement.
2 guys got the replacement unit, 1 guy cannot since he buy from Singapore and I cannot since i buy from Sony Online Malaysia.

Sony store, service center, Online Store, Playstation and even CIC doesnt work in harmony i think.
I dont think Sony Center will take up those regional warranty thing right now.

Best of luck guys.
Buying from Sony Malaysia have its perk. I learnt my lesson when my 1st PS3 fail.

SO,
After I've spoken with someone from SONY Service Centre:
1) Console is to reach on tomorrow from HK, and most likely to reach to the curve on Monday. They will call me back again after they have the ship schedule.

2) I was the first to sent to their service (that's what they said) which then makes me on the first of the list to receive.

3) Regarding on the on the spot exchange:
I've been told that as far as she knows, there isn't anyone got on the spot exchange, because stocks are very limited.

4) SONY Malaysia purchase vs. Retailers.
- SEA Regional warranty goes towards all as long as it is SEA warranty.
- It is a first come first serve process to repair / replace.
- However, back to the point 3, if there are people who bought the console from SONY Malaysia during launch, and found broken and send back to the SONY Malaysia (for example the curve), they MIGHT have a chance to get 1to1 replacement on the spot PROVIDED there are stocks left. If not, things will still go back to the normal process - First come first serve regardless on SEA or SONY Malaysia.

5) +2years extended warranty.
The practice was only for those who purchased from SONY Malaysia will be entitled. HOWEVER, this was for their other gadgets, and since SEA warranty is new, they will check again and double confirm with me.

So Sony does honor the SEA warranty thing.
At The Curve, I got the replacement from the Sony Store-not the Sony Service Center.

Gud luck bro.
