So now only International School student can get in huh? What is there to shout about? People pay a lot to study in International School.
If our schools can be so high standard, I am sure there are many more Malaysians who can achieve great things on the international level.

Why didn’t any of the SPM and STPM straight A students manage to gain admission the past few years? Did they/their parents/their teachers concentrate on the ’wrong’ things? smile.gif

Well she is probably not coming back to this country. Her parents don't want her to stay here. Your assumption.

I am not sure if this kind of news is going to encourage other students to be like her or for her parents and school to feel proud. Probably an advertisement for the school you know? Harvard do not need advertisement from a Malaysian, they already admitted & drop out Bill Gates and Mark Z

In this day this place, without money what is left for us ordinary people? First, you gain admission, with Harvard admission offer, many organizations will offer to fund you. This is indirectly telling us to the face our children is hopeless in government school no? Probably yes, but from my batch, we have 1 ordinary Indian girl in SMK, took SPM, then took the SAT and TOEFL and got into MIT, and then got scholarship.

No need to be angry lah bro Band-Pass filter. Just ignore this fella. He's not even Malaysian. He's freaking Thai, and he's posting anti-Malaysian propaganda everywhere. Want butthurt, go check out your own country first lah. Everywhere want post crony, but your politicians have manipulated the system through corrupt practices to enrich themselves, friends and families and have amassed billions throughout the process. How's that for cronyism? rolleyes.gif

PETALING JAYA: It has been three years since a Malaysian was accepted into Harvard University. Eleasha Chew (pix) has put an end to the "drought."

The former student of St. George's Girls' School will be admitted under Harvard College's Early Action programme for the class of 2018.

The 19-year-old International Baccalaureate student has been very active in theatre and community service.
Dr Goh Cheng Teik, who heads the selection panel that interviews students for undergraduate admission into Harvard, described Eleasha as “extremely intelligent”.

“She speaks very well and she is able to communicate very effectively, I am sure she will not face any difficulty when she is in Harvard,” said Dr Goh in a telephone interview on Friday.

Former SMK Damansara Jaya student Avinaash Subramaniam was the last Malaysian to be accepted into Harvard - in 2010.
