So during haze, your air filter out the smog particles.
Now you don't want to replace the filter with all those particles trap in it....

Can dirty filter give you clean air?
*
Good HEPA filter are trapped all the particles inside, it won't come back out when you are not using the filter or keep it idle for months.

Good HEPA = True HEPA

Air Purifier and Mask for haze season

Hello Everyone ,
I just want to do some sharing as right now it is haze season.
1.N95 masks

Do not use normal surgical mask , that won't do. Surgical masks are not designed for use as particulate respirators and do not provide as much respiratory protection as an N95 respirator. For haze , we need to use N95 masks instead of surgical mask.

Where to get :

Hardware shop, Pharmacy

Lazada : N95 mask lazada link RM55 (20 Pieces) more like RM2.50 per pieces
2.Air Purifier

Air conditioners can help in keeping your home cool, but an air purifier can filter out all the air pollutants and keep the indoor air clean to breathe in. Air purifier can also trap pollutants larger than 0.3 micron, such as dust mites, mould spores, pollen, pet dander and tobacco smoke. It is advisable to have at least one unit of air purifier in your house to clean all the contaminated air due to haze.

Famous brand for Air purifier are Coway , Amway and Cuckoo , However they are quite expensive and you need to pay monthly between MYR70 - MYR 200 for 3 -5 years commitment . There are also some other alternative from branded electrical appliance company such as sharp , Philip etc.

While looking for an purifier on haze season , it is advisable to get one with HEPA filter especially with 3 in 1 features (pre filter , carbon filter and HEPA filter) that most air purifier products offer.

I will list some of them below which as per my research online for low air purifier budget with HEPA filter from Lazada :

Augienb Air Purifier link (Cheapest you can get ) Around RM 200 after collecting coupon

Midea MAP-20BD Air Purifier link RM322.00 (Bought this one , as it is local , arrived the next day

Sharp FPJ30LA Plasmacluster Air Purifier link RM339.00 (Hot in Lazada atm )

SHARP JAPAN FPF40LW PLASMACLUSTER AIR PURIFIER link RM599.00 (Bigger coverage with indicator )

Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier RM699 (Can link into your smartphone )
BTW, I am not a seller , i am just a typical consumer sharing my knowledge from my research while looking for N95 masks and air purifier online. But , if you do purchase it online through my link i will get some coffee money due to affiliate marketing that i joined biggrin.gif
Do stay indoor and drink more water.

Hope this help and stay healthy !

You got to keep yourself updated for Atmosphere Sky. There never been 3 years commitment before. doh.gif

And to update, zero interest installment plan is available for 24 months. Only rm200 per month.
You got the best performance air purifier, with the price, so worth it.

Sorry guys,

I didn't provide the link ( i was blindly CnP from my reddit post )
BTW , here are my recommendation for HEPA filter :

Augienb Air Purifier link (Cheapest you can get ) Around RM 200 after collecting coupon
link : https://invol.co/cli0c3

Midea MAP-20BD Air Purifier link RM322.00 (Bought this one , as it is local , arrived the next day , so far doing good, no more sneeze in early morning
link : https://invol.co/cli0c4

Sharp FPJ30LA Plasmacluster Air Purifier link RM339.00 (Hot in Lazada atm )
link : https://invol.co/cli0c5

SHARP JAPAN FPF40LW PLASMACLUSTER AIR PURIFIER link RM599.00 (Bigger coverage with indicator )
link : https://invol.co/cli0c6

Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier RM699 (Can link into your smartphone )
link : https://invol.co/cli0c9

My advice, better buy online from shopee or lazada. I checked at the physical shop and there are like 200- 500 myr different in price

I am aware of it. Ack'd that Atmosphere Sky is among the best for air purifier. But, i think most people like me will look for cheaper alternative. Instead of rm200 per month * = rm4800 , why not get one with below rm 800 so you can survive haze that probably happen once or twice a year. Of course if you are going to use it the whole year it does sound like a good deal.

Yeah, I agree too. Coz 4k++ can filtered 300 over contaminations/viruses/bacteria.
If you going to get the 800 bucks that 1, at least get its black and white that it can filter at least 75 of it.
Otherwise, it is still not worth buying even though the price is cheap.

Need some wise opinion/advise on this purifier.
SHARP claim filter life can last up to 10 years as to compare to others which is only up to 2 years. Anyone is convinced or it is just a gimmick?

Which filter last up to 10 years? The HEPA? If the claim by their own company are BS usually.

Maybe they wanna bluff consumer that every month use 1 hours only, therefore last for 10 years. lol

Best look for those have electronic monitor system. Whether is build in the purifier system or app connected to calculate how many air circulate for the usage.

No mention of CADR too. As expected from Sharp. Somemore cost at RM2k too. Personally not recommended.

Thanks for the reply. it din say operation hour per day but it says "No need for replacement for 2 years When smoking five cigarettes a day"
Both HEPA and deodorizing filters r rated 10yrs by SHARP.

No mention of the CADR but will look around for other alternatives. Thanks again.

In 10 years there might be new technology out there. But, yes sharp usually have a long lasting filter, there might be another cons tho probably the hardware. Unless you get the warranty for 10 years too

ya man, if the filter is really as long lasting as they claimed then it will be more cost effective. since paying 2k upfront with filter that can last 10yrs is cheaper comparing to buying a 1k purifier with filter replacement interval every 2yrs.

anyway, will look around again for alternatives. thinking of replacing my old 10yrs+ purifier. haze season is over. plenty of time to look around before the next season.

my sinus is getting back, thought of getting one to see whether can improve my condition or not

my room is just small, so those around rm300+ should be sufficient right?

Also, for those rm300+, need to change filter? not stated on lazada

there is no Air Purifier no need to change filter.

Always look for Air purifier that must/need to change filter. at least with monitoring system to calculate.

My sinus problem was reduced when I got myself an air purifier. It still gave me problem on certain days, but definitely better than having to wake up daily with congestion. This was about 8 years back. Finally decided to see specialist when I discovered I could use my insurance to cover the medical cost few years later.

"No need for replacement for 2 years When smoking five cigarettes a day" is probably a trick. Owning parrots and having to deal with the feather dust, I have two air purifiers that I have constantly running on low in my apartment. Every month I have to vacuum the filters as they are clogged with the dust they pull out of the air.
Yet, I feel like I'm breathing easier than two years ago and I don't really get a stuffy nose when I'm in my apartment anymore. And the same goes for my asthmatic father - he's not coughing anymore when he visits us.

Can't say anything about rm300+, but yes, gbmitoban, you'll have to change filters from time to time. Nothing against your decision, but what's the use in cleaning a single room when your furnace is spewing allergens all over the house? I'm using a Honeywell Drum purifier (filters need to be replaced each three months) and a smart one Winix HR1000 which is bigger (the manual states to clean the pre filter every 14 days, haven't replaced it yet, also I find it funny that it's called a "true HEPA" - like, then what's an untrue one?) so I'm running it in my living room. Both are HEPA. But you should keep in mind, that it's not an ultimate solution so to keep my allergies at bay I have to vacuum regularly.

Here are some nice sources:
https://acaai.org/allergies/allergy-treatment/air-filters - "Not changing the filter regularly can also do more harm than good". Please, keep it mind as well. There's no such thing as a everlasting filter that requires no maintenance.
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3165134/ - here are some studies as well. Spoilers: "studies support multiple interventions, including air filtration, as methods to improve outcomes in the treatment of allergic respiratory diseases".
https://www.consumerreports.org/cro/air-pur...guide/index.htm - and here's a good basic maintenance guide.

I sleep with windows closed and fan switched on. I don't really use aircond when sleeping, but on those rare occasion, I will have both a/c and air purifier switched on.

Leaving the windows open while air purifier is running would be pointless, unless you are able to filter the outside air. What I will do is to open the window when I'm not in the room or when the purifier is not running.
