Hi everyone,
Have a huge concern.
I was watching movie in youtube while being powered by battery (not plugged in).
Watched about 50 minutes.
The fan was whirling like crazy and temperature as measured by Intel's Power Gadget was 88 degrees C.
By the end of the movie, battery level was about 45% left.
Is the temperature normal when watching movies? It's just like so freaking hot that I can't even put it on my lap.
Thanks.

QUOTE(nogas @ Jul 26 2014, 11:43 AM) Chrome or Safari? Is your youtube player using Flash or the HTML5 player? Because Adobe Flash is such a resource hog that it is normal for it to heat up your mac LOL. My MBPr turns hot too whenever I view flash videos or ads, but once I switched to the HTML5 player, it stays cool throughout. I would uninstall Adobe Flash Player and force my browser to use the HTML5 player in youtube instead. Also use an extension such as ClickToFlash to stop Flash ads/videos from running automatically. If let's say in rare cases where the video is only available in Flash, I would open the video in Chrome (Chrome has its own built-in sandboxed Flash that is maintained separately). Otherwise, steer clear of flash. Thanks! Yeah was using Flash to watch. Dammit.

QUOTE(Lucas94 @ Aug 2 2014, 07:23 PM) Hi all! I'm planning to get a Mac Book Pro Retina 13 inch but also found out that a new MBP Retina 13 inch will be coming out soon with a small speed bump. I was wondering does anyone have any idea when it would hit store shelves of Apple resellers? Looking forward to getting one, very anxious. Hehe. Thank you! They will always be coming out with speed bumps, small upgrades, price drops, etc within 6 months normally, so as far as I am concerned, if the current specs are good for you, don't bother. UNLESS there's a MAJOR upgrade expected eg to a new generation of processors, etc. Just my 2 cents.
