dilemma between
Air - 2.2GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i7, Turbo Boost up to 3.2GHz
Pro - 2.9GHz Dual-Core Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz
may i know which processor perform better?
*
Definitely the Pro.
IMO the Air is only for those ppl plan to do light surfing or small tasks. If plan to use it as main daily driver, always go for the Pro

Hi Sifus,

Recently I noticed that I am getting green screen picture previews on my rMBP after updating to El Capitan.

When I click on a picture to preview it, for a brief moment I can see the picture, but it then turns green.

I noticed this problem for pictures I take using my Android phone and viewed on my rMBP.
Pictures that are taken at 4:3 dont have this problem, while pictures taken at 16:9 have this green screen problem

Anyone facing this issue? And how to overcome this?

Thanks

Hi all, for Office on MBPr, is there any problems between saving the file in Mac and Windows? I'm worried if there will be compatibility issues if i use both OS for Office programs. I also heard Office 2016 is out for Mac, anyone tried it?

Secondly, 2016 MBPr is out early or mid of 2016?

Not sure if i saw wrongly or not, MBPr used to start at Rm4399 or Rm4099 early of the year right?
*
You did not see wrong. It used to be RM4099 (I forgot d) for the basic rMBP 13', but after GST and price adjustment from our Ringgit, it is now sitting at its current pricing at RM4769 nod.gif
Of course the model now is rocking the Intel Iris Graphics 6100 and also the Force Touch trackpad

Singapore still retain the prices. Just fly to Singapore and make sure to claim the GST refund.
*
Air ticket both ways + rMBP + Claim back GST is cheaper than Malaysia Macbook price
Heck, didnt claim back the GST also still cheaper than Malaysia price sweat.gif

New Macbook User reporting. Got myself a Used Macbook Pro Mid2012, i5 500gb 4gbRam.

been using Windows 10 on my Surface Pro 3.

Day 1 on El Capitan. So far so good in adapting.

thinking is it possible to swap the HDD to SSD.
*
HDD to SSD swap will make your laptop performance like night to day. SSD will boost the laptop performance alot and you will notice significant speed improvements

can we upgrade our current SSD to bigger size? say 256GB to 512GB? hmm.gif
*
I dont think our models with the built in SSD can upgrade bcos not mistaken our SSD are soldered to the board, if not I also want to upgrade sweat.gif

we can actually upgrade, the Flash Storage isn't soldered to the board but the RAM is.
problem is no one is making the Flash Storage modules for 2014 and newer models
*
Izzit? Haha would be interested on this too as 128GB apparently not enuff storage sweat.gif

Just got a second hand Mac (2011) Mac Book Pro 13 inch, I7 2.7GHZ
I am thinking to upgrade my Mac here as do not know which to do so? Shall i upgrade the Ram first, or Hard Disk or Eventually SSD?
At the moment i already asked for quotations for SSD for 1TB SSD ( Samsung ) need RM 15xx compare with hard disk iTB no need so expensive.
Does the speed of the SSD really made a different ?

thank in advance
*
I will upgrade the SSD first. Though the most expensive to upgrade, but the performance boost is the most significant and your old laptop will feel like a new laptop

Hi Thanks for yr answer i do find that Ram is cheaper then SSD !! Ram just cost from Rm 180 to 240 ( 8gb Ram ) x 2 =16gb ram.

As for SSD need Rm 400 to 1500.00
I am thinking hard which brand of SSD i will get
*
RAM does not give much of a performance boost, but SSD will make a very big difference. Which brand to use im not sure la, but better to invest in SSD and then RAM later

My mac still less than a year. Thinking of extending the protection with AppleCare Protection, currently at RM870 for extra two year coverage.

Is it worth it? Can I get it cheaper elsewhere?
*
I am also wondering whether should I purchase the Apple Care plan biggrin.gif
RM870 is quite a sum to fork out, though it extends 2 years warranty. Not sure to risk it or not.. hmm.gif

Hi, let's say if i am not moving around much with the laptop, should i use the power outlet? I've not used laptop for quite a while so i'm curious if i should use the battery until it is low and charge it. If i use it with power all the while, will it increase the cycle count of the battery or reduce its lifespan?
*
I nvr even move my laptop anywhere, sit on the table 24/7. Now i also wonder why i bothered to get a laptop, should have gotten a desktop instead sweat.gif though i appreciate that it is much neater as only 1 wire required (power outlet)

Anyways i would use the battery till 10% then start charging it via the power outlet

hello guys, I plan to sell my heavy 15" cMBP mid 2015 and change it to a light weight 13" rMBP. Do you think how much I can see my Macbook? Following is the spec:

2.6Ghz i7 quadcore processor
16GB RAM
Two Samsung 840 Pro 256GB SSD installed on it (about RM800+ for each) + original 750GB HDD
1GB DDR5 Nvidia GT650M
15" standard glossy display
2 original Apple power adapter
warranty is going to expire on December this year

I have noticed that 15" rMBP price increased couple of weeks ago. Will this help me put my MBP selling price in better position? I'm not sure about current Malaysia MBP market price. Do you think it's reasonable to sell it at RM5500? FYI, I purchased it about RM10k two years ago. Thanks.
*
I think should be 2013?
Although the specs are quite high and good, wouldnt rm5.5k be quite expensive for a second hand laptop which is almost 3 years old d?

Yes its true that now the rmbp 15 laptops now go for rm6-8k, but still rm5.5k for a 3 year old laptop is quite high.

Good luck with your sales though, u might be able to find buyer at rm5.5k as the specs are good

i have an opposite mind actually. I am regretted over my purchase of the 15-inch and I really envy those who got the 13-inch instead for the portability.

As long as it is using SATA based hardisk (non-SSD), no matter how it will not be fast. SSD is the only way to go else even with the latest MBP spec, it will still slow down in booting etc.
*
Lol i regretted getting the 13 inch and should have gone for the 15 inch when the price was still "cheap" sweat.gif

It really depends on what you do with the machine and how you manage your data. I've used 128GB models for about 2 years now. Still alright.

My 128GB model now left with only 30GB cry.gif
