$16 for Nillkin 9H Glass SP w/ free shipping.
Worth it?
*
I guess so? Not sure about the local price over here hahaha

Depending on how many people joins the bulk, I think I can bring in around RM35-40. Might even be cheaper if many joins. Need to wait first for my qi chargers to arrive first doh.gif

It does. The film stretches the whole screen and minimise the impact by spreading the energy as widely as possible. Certainly, cheap one may not be doing that job really well but I believe any better one should have that covered somehow. Premium one like Rhinoshield tell you that's what they can do!
*

Interesting, now I feel like I need to replace my screen protector laugh.gif Is the nillkin glass screen protector as good as rhino shield? I see they only got for nexus 4, seems like they havent make for nexus 5 yet hmm.gif

They do. It will cost you a 25USD + shipping though.
http://shopify.evolutivelabs.com/products/rhino-shield-phone

One thing that held me back is its anti-scratch-ness. I see some scratch marks in some of their videos (or maybe that's just some lighting issue) but they do promise everything but anti-scratch. Sure, polymer-based SP will not be as anti-scratch as the tempered glass one, but if a SP scratches so easily and cost me 25USD to replace, it will be very painful!
*
But the impact resistance is very tempting, I can't find any impact testing done on other sp such as nillkin or sgp hmm.gif

Just sharing my rusty physics knowledge from college  sweat.gif

Basically display screen can be of two type :
elastic ( difficult to crack but easier to bend, for example PDA screen )
tough ( difficult to bend but easier to crack, for example glass )

Most modern smartphone with corning gorilla glass was of tough type. Putting a screen protector that is difficult to crack doesnt exactly able to protect phone's glass below. Those glass type screen protector will have higher chance to protect phone screen/glass, by taking the hit. Good glass also had scatter proof characteristic thus will reduce damage to screen/glass below as well.
*
so you are saying normal tempered glass sp is better than rhino shield type of sp?

QUOTE(ndragon @ Dec 26 2013, 01:22 AM)
wa its really impressive.. shipping is 5 usd.. so total 30 usd including shipping..

I thought shipping is free?

It stated: *Worldwide shipping

Nah, I had no knowledge on Rhino shield. My believe was that I rather gamble on breaking another piece of glass. Generally it was the concept of bullet proof glass, by having multiple glass stack together.

I'm still hunting for what would protect front display of my yet-to-receive nexus 5.
*
Oh alright, RM100 is kinda a lot for me as well just for a sp. Probably is around half the price of what it would take to repair a broken screen hmm.gif

edit: my bad, seems like repairing a nexus 4 broken screen costs RM390 so I would expect the same or slightly more for nexus 5 (provided spare parts are here already)

Me too, if the bulk buy is successful then most likely can get it around RM35. Hopefully its good enough, currently using the free sgp sp that came with my ultra hybrid lol.

Wow... You expect RM200 to fix N5 screen? biggrin.gif

FYI Galaxy Nexus screen costs RM530 to fix (maybe outdated price)
Nexus 4 one costs RM390 - LCD is cheaper than AMOLED and at same resolution, N4 one costs less
Nexus 5, just spare part from ebay already costs 170USD (RM550+). In comparison, N4 one costs 100USD (RM330+-), Galaxy Nexus one costs around 100USD too. It depends on quality though, whether it's full ori or what (hard to tell anyway).

One of the cons of having 1080p display on a phone doh.gif
*
I was expecting 200++ but yeah kinda expensive sad.gif should cost more than N4 I guess since ours are using IPS display hmm.gif

If its around RM500 plus then its almost half the price of the phone already laugh.gif doh.gif

Didnt encounter this prob yet but I dont get calls often anyways so hard to say laugh.gif

QUOTE(faiz293 @ Dec 27 2013, 10:11 AM)
i happened to read an article yesterday about the effect of using the wireless charger. It generates heat, which is pretty bad for your phone battery. Not sure whether true or not.

BTW, for my new phone, it is okay if I just use it, and then charge like normal? I think we dont need to charge 8 hours like the older phone, rite?
*
Its normal for qi charger to generate heat. My phone goes up to 41 deg in a non-aircon room. Its not that hot imo considering the fact that the phone can go up to 38 deg when watching youtube etc.

btw, mine is 310k, so does it means manufactured on Oct?

lol, thx for the offer bro since 1gadget is willing to exchg a white unit for me but at last i rejected due to pos laju here
(slow and always delay services)
I noticed that, that's why i bought the sgp ultra hybrid becoz the bek is transparent, nice protection as well as nice white looking icon_idea.gif  this casing is seriously thick and uncomfortable to hold in one hand, but in exchg for protection it's worth. maybe I might just use it naked after 2-3 months brows.gif
*
Yeah feels thick for me as well. Used to use my galaxy w with 1 hand only. Might try neo hybrid to see which I like better hmm.gif

it depends la, I'm feeling just right with naked, btw, with the casing attached, it's quite difficult to detect the wireless charger (I'm using nokia dt-900)
naked still the best for me, since it's a black unit so no more worries bout getting it dirty
*
Depends on the charger, I using nillkin, no problems even with gap/object in between the charger + casing.

QUOTE(SilverCrimz @ Dec 27 2013, 11:35 PM)
planning to get one Nexus 5. Am wondering will the 16gb be sufficient for daily use? I won't be playing games on it and everyday apps would most likely be taking notes, taking and edit photos, usual social apps - whatsapp, fb, twitt, etc.
*
I dont play games either on my phone, normal daliy use + songs. I am using the 16GB & I am left with 5GB+

Should be sufficient I think unless you plan to take a lot of videos with the camera. Nexus 5 do not have the best camera btw, its just decent so its something you should be aware of if you like taking pictures.

Yea, these are the tweaks I was referring to.

Apologies that my choice of the word "Hardware" may have caused some confusion.

So the 312k batch is the one with larger speaker holes and tighter buttons?
*
If you read the link they said 311k also received those "tweaks". Honestly nobody knows, so many people claiming this & that. How certain is the seller that his 312k unit has the "tweaks"? Did he do a comparison with the older batch?

Honestly I dont think you should bother much about it, there are users who are using the 310k batch, 311k batch, 312k batch in this thread. I haven't hear any major complains from them till today. Its still a nexus 5 & its a fu*king awesome phone with tweaks or not laugh.gif

Question
How can I enjoy 4G LTE speeds?
Answer
∙Purchase an LTE enabled device (if you don't already own one).
∙Subscribe to a Mobile Internet plan of 1GB & above OR sign up to a rate plan with bundled data more than 1GB.
∙You must be on either a nano-SIM or a micro-SIM.
*
Owh deng.

Also someone mentioned over here than changing sim card to micro-sim is RM10, I have changed mine & its not RM10. Its RM25 for those who are interested or planning to change laugh.gif

That guy might be true. I am on 500MB plan as well but I set my Nexus 5 mobile network to LTE.
I am sure that I am connected to LTE when I was in KLCC last weekend, as it is showing the LTE signal instead of H.
Maybe I need to go to some LTE area to confirm it again and take a screenshot of it.

Do update us, I am very interested to know biggrin.gif 500MB would be perfect for me I think since I dont use much laugh.gif
