No doubt it is a beast. There is always another better one

A forummer here bought this years ago. Couldn't get it right in his small room. It was posted in Home Entertainment. I was there to help out. Months later, he sold it. Recently I saw someone posted this for sale again.

*
Oic. Didn't quite follow about JTR.

Talking about 18", there is a dual 18" subwoofer with 6,000W amp to drive the two 18" in PJ. This beast weighs at 258kg.

Thats right ssjben..and this ht systems cost more than victor's kronos whole gears in klav and his showroom.
*
That's a staggering USD1mil!!! At least.

The Mark Levinson No. 531H and 533H used there reminds me of a fellow member here. He has the flagship N53 mono for his front, 533H for his center and surr and an extra 532H in store room. The extra 532H may be used when his new HT room is completed. I guess he will add 2 more 532H for his ceiling speakers.

In my experience, the stereo system is not as simple as we thought it to be. Not easy since there is no room equalisation software to help. Stereo isn't that straightforward especially if it involves a turntable. Still learning from my sifu.

Hushymushy, do you want more poison?

Agree with you on the details. I also like big ambiance and importantly low noise floor.

Ok.

You ordered the Sierra Towers "natural" finish at USD 2098... or you chose a different finish? Did you finally decide to add in the Custom RAAL 70-20xr with AM Core Transformer for USB 700? I wonder how much it will cost to ship by UPS for this 24.95 KG speakers.
*
It is usually based on dimensional weight and not the actual weight of the item especially by air. Dimensional weight reflects package density, which is the amount of the space a package occupies in relation to its actual weight. The bigger the box, the dimensional weight will be higher.

7 years ago, Emotiva charged USD290 for shipping fee of the XPA-5 power amp that I bought. I am guessing that this should be about USD750. Import duty around USD427 if based on the courier fee. GST will be USD196.51. All in at USD3,471.50.

How much are the Salk Soundscapes and the Sierra Towers? Who are the dealers in KL?
*

The Soundscapes 8 is at about USD9k per pair. About 100kg+ per pair. No dealer in Malaysia. Shipping fee will be hefty.

Thanks for the info. Appreciated it.

So, roughly the estimated total cost should be $2800 + $800 + $427 (import duty) = USD 4027

Based on exchange rate of average RM 4.03 per USD 1, that will be RM 16228.81 (excluding GST). I assume the 6% GST will be based on RM 14508 (USD 2800+800) so the net total will be around RM 17099.

Mmm... I don't know whether GST exclude the shipping fee of $800.

Edited : Added import duty.
*
No...

If it is USD2,800 + USD800 (shipping), then the import duty is USD540 and GST is USD248.40. Total is USD4,388.40. GST is based on the total cost of the item.

Does it really make any different to burn in our preamp, cd player n power amp to get better sound n how long need to run.tq
*
It won't be a day and night difference. The signature character won't change that much after burn in. It is usually marginally better.

Yday, a cust asked me about calibration whether he can get huge improvement if he redo it again. Well, if you had done it right at the first place for your new equipment, the second one will not yield a big improvement (unless you screwed up badly on the first calibration)

Some power amps nowadays don't have balanced XLR connection. Sigh...

The Marantz AV7703 processor has 11.2 balanced XLR pre out along with a few other brands' processors

Same price as BDP-105D. So, should be around RM6k

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Oct 29 2017, 07:10 PM)
There are no rules stating that bookshelfs should be in small rooms and towers are in big. If you ask me, I'd still get 3 large bookshelfs over a tower setup for a pure HT room (example 3x PSA MTM 210 for LCR). The main reason being that 3 large bookshelfs that plays FLAT too 60-70hz with a high sensitivity (above 93db/1w/1m) is cheaper than buying 3 towers (or 2 towers + 1 center). The extra money can and SHOULD go to a bigger sub, which is the foundation of the audio spectrum.

Depends on what speakers you get, may not be a great choice to get a single amp and run all your speakers off from it. A Denon x4400h and an Emotiva A-300 is cheaper than a single x6400h and will perform better than the latter. Weigh out your choices on that. The x4400h does 11 channel processing too, you just need an external 2 channel amp to make use of it.
*
Agree. Recently, our customer wanted to buy an avr that can do 11.2 processing. We got him a X4400H since it has the same quad DSP as X6400. With power amps added in to do full 11ch, it has much cleaner power.

Usually avr runs out of steam when you have all channels connected to it, making it losing almost half of its power.
