Plus I'm sure most of the 1st gen PS3 games will still be using DVD as the main media as it's cheaper, and I don't really see many games that'll require more than 8GB of space (dual layer DVD).

Remember PS2 launch games? The only game that uses DVD-ROM at launch is Kessen, while all the other launch games still using CD-ROM.

The 360 on the other hand is collecting dust, being a region locked console,im not able to play most of the new games that interests me now.

This is what make me furious, when I talk to my friends about 360, they will bash it because of the region lock. The way they say it is like Xbox 360 is the first console to have enforce region lock system.

It's not surprising since they only played pirated games before on their modded PS1 and PS2 and don't know that region lock exist on their console as well. Hate region lock? Blame Nintendo for starting them.

For me, I don't care if Xbox 360 is region locked. Most Japanese / US game will be available in Asia version, and Asia's game are about USD 20 cheaper than US / Japanese game, which is a plus for me. thumbup.gif

Don't get me wrong, I'll get both Wii and PS3 when there are games that I want to play available on those consoles. Region free on PS3 is a plus, though I'll most probably buy Asian games (cheaper price) than US / Japanese games.

No hard feelings. I just hate those who bash Xbox 360 because of region lock when they themselves don't know that all the console before 360 does have region lock implemented, and they don't know about it because they bought their console pre-modded.

i dont remember any nintendo system(aside from GC) which is region locked-was N64 region locked? sweat.gif  sweat.gif

The regional lockout was first implemented on European NES.

QUOTE
Lockout circuitry. The Famicom contained no lockout hardware, and, as a result, unlicensed cartridges (both legitimate and bootleg) were extremely common throughout Japan and the Far East. The original NES (but not the top-loading NES 2) contained the 10NES lockout chip, which significantly increased the challenges faced by unlicensed developers. Tinkerers at home in later years discovered that disassembling the NES and cutting the fourth pin of the lockout chip (a process now legal with the expiration of the NES patent) would cut power to the chip, removing all effects and greatly improving the console's ability to play legal games, as well as bootlegs and converted imports. The European release of the console used a regional lockout system that prevented cartridges released in region A from being played on region B consoles, and vice versa.

Just because Nintendo came up with the region lock to actually curb bootlegs, they shouldn't really be blamed for "creating" region lock. In their history, Nintendo was never really strict on imports. AFAIK, all their cartridge-based systems (N64 and before) were region free.
*
I'm not sure about N64, but console before N64 which (SNES) is region locked. They implement this by using different cartridge shape on different region. Hence, Japanese game couldn't fit into US' cartridge slot. Japanese & European SNES have similar cartidge shape, but they put a region lockout chip on the console which prevents European game to be played on Japanese console and vice versa.

So, maybe they did that on NES to curb bootleg, but when they continue that on SNES, it's clear that they don't want gamers to import games from other region.

As for Xbox 360. Eventhough the region lockout are implemented into the hardware, it's up to the game's developer / publisher whether they want to use the region lockout or not.

Hehe, if there's anyone gonna buy all three, pls dont post it here la~ It's not a disscusion about which is better anymore...
U are simply being a nice guy and saying that 3 consoles are good and not criticising 1, u'll kill the forum,lol...(no offence)
*
So people like me who plans to get all 3 consoles can't post here? shakehead.gif
Eventhough we plans to get all 3 consoles, doesn't mean we like those consoles. Sometimes, we get that console just because the game that we want to play is only available at that particular console.

aku pilih Wii...pasal fast loading..like GC..damn fast..macam takde loading langsung...1st party games lah..even my 360 loading pun boleh tidur sekejap hahaha.. vmad.gif
*
Well, one of the reason GC has a fast loading time is because they're using mini-DVD, which have smaller data read area, which helps improve loading time.

Wii is using standard DVD, so we have to wait and see.

QUOTE(stringfellow @ Jul 25 2006, 10:20 AM)
P/s: There is alos the "other" group of people. These people wait and see which console gets cracked first, and they go for these consoles. Of course, PSP_Boy's intention of posting this thread have no bearing whatsoever with these people, since their decisions on getting these consoles arent made because of gaming or price issues, they are made because these consoles are piratable for them.
*
I know some people like that. They claim themselves as Sony's fanboy; but plans to get PS3 only when the modchip is out and if there is no modchip for PS3, they'll go to other console that have modable, even though previously they've bashed those console before.

Example, I have a friend who are very proud with his PSP V1.5. At that time, Nintendo DS can only play legit games, so when I bought a DS he criticize me and bashed Nintendo DS. Now, when there are flash cart for Nintendo DS, he bought one, and said that Nintendo DS is the best hendheld console he ever had!

Dah ludah sanggup jilat balik tuh sebab ada pirated version. whistling.gif

Yeah wait and see...but i do believe they will do the same thing with normal DVD on Wii... whistling.gif

Yeah, it depends on the game developer's optimizations. IINM, Dead or Alive 4 on Xbox 360 has almost no loading time.

and i think the controller will hv vibration.. sony knows tat error.. thy are already fixing it.
*
Really? I thought they dropped the vibration function because Sony was sued by force-feedback company Immersion for patent infringement for the use of vibration functions in Dual Shock & Dual Shock 2? Sony lost and was required to pay royalties, and suspend the sale of the controllers in the United States.

And Sony's defence for not having vibration on PS3? It'll interfere with tilt sensor? Immersion (yeah, the company who sued Sony) said they can put Vibration on PS3's controller without interfering with the tilt sensor.
