waiting for Dan to give hints on the sector to focus in cherry picking

I think I mentioned this before. right now, I'm looking at Solar sector. it's quite interesting especially when we got high oil prices.

Specific solar stocks to look at: FLSR, CSIQ, SCTY, SUNE (I been trading this one), JASO, YGE.

The broad market index ETF for Solar is TAN. Use this a relative comparison.

Be careful with YGE is quite volatile.. they're big sponsor of FIFA.. and pirate ship from China. brows.gif
JASO also from China but less volatile. In nice trading range to play (between 9 and 11).

SUNE (USA) got factory in Malaysia. Been making good cells for electronics. industry.
Pretty bullish chart here. Just follow the 50ma line to buy dips.

Recent pullback here - good buying opportunity. nod.gif

Enough of this kinda of summertime grinding. The options Implied Volatility was getting crushed badly for every 5mins.

Lights off. Good luck guys.
Was planning to hold the WFC play initially till Monday then realised on my earnings radar that Citigroup is going to announce earnings prior to market which going to send some turbulence across all financial stocks. Since I do not own a crystal ball, better take profit then "gamble/pray hard".

M&A driving the market up this week... and "hope" for better earnings.

C (citibank) - moving up.. after the settlement. I think overall banks should do ok here.

Like to see what techs will do.. esp. AAPL - forming a nice base here at 90s.. smile.gif

Yeah...I think it's going to price itself for perfection if the "hope" is like this.

Yes, 90 is good support. last week, I sold AAPL 90 July 25th puts weeklies.
I keep selling it until I get it. If by every Friday, didn't happen, just pocket the premium.

Ben never do this, they said. So what's the urgent, Yellen?
*
I think Yellen will continue Ben policy of easy money but sometimes when she speaks, she sounded more dangerous than Ben because her voice and tone casts a lot of doubt. That's why market usually goes yo-yo when she speaks...

".... I think the economy is doing better... the committee.. believes...in .. err..stopping .. the err.. ahem ahemm.. cough.. the policy of the huh err.. ..."

In between the pauses.. the machines will sell buy-sell-buy twice as fast. sweat.gif

out for a loss of -$1.00

That plunge is really nasty.... so much for the headline that says "FRC reports STRONG quarterly earnings".
Market didn't seems to think so. biggrin.gif

yes, and now big players stepping in to bring the whole market down. guess this will be catalyst for further war crisis.

Market always anticipating catalyst to crash, this is an important air traffic route where almost all Asia flights will pass through. For example, an Air France flying from Malaysia to Canada will need to stop at France's Paris CDG airport hence, passing through this Ukraine territory as well. This will cause aftermath to mostly major airlines out there, and won't stop here it seems. I am seeing the SPY hitting at least $196 today before a weak bounce from there.
Our PM should be notified by his beloved again at say what 8:00am tomorrow morning?  thumbup.gif

War?.. Not sure who's responsible yet but sell the news first...

Any way to short MAS shares in Malaysia?

You can short RSX (Market Vector Russia ETF Trus) drool.gif

Though might be too late atm, yet worth to put on radar momentarily for swing trading after the initial dust settle down for a bit.
*
When Obama announced new sanction, the RSX already moved... so a bit late now.
Darn... perhaps Russia sponsored insurgent in response - went ahead and shoot down MAS thinking Malaysia airlines flag looks like US ones. doh.gif

I think it doing ok.. just as market expected.

I sold the 90 Puts for this week but I think it will hold above 90 by Friday.
I don't mind owning more AAPL it it drops to 90.

Anyway, onto other... something brewing China FTSE Xinhua.
My 2x leverage of FXI (XPP) now at 62.. it's time for me to ring the register here.
It's been a great ride for 3 months from the mid 40s.
I'll buy the pull back again.

China FTSE Xinhua, I'm really not sure if it's a breakout or a short term top. If it's a breakout, another 10% upside for the index is possible. If it's a temporary top, I'd expect a 5-8% pull back. So, you are at the pull back side?  biggrin.gif
*
I think there will be a minor pull back here but I got to ring the cash register after more than 35% gain. laugh.gif

TMUS is on my watch list but not on buy list yet. I'll be watching this to see if it can touch 200ma and bounce off.

Not this friday (for $85)..lots of big money hold up AAPL despite "just as expected" earnings and weaker iPad sales for Q2.

Still holding my (short) $90 put from two weeks ago. I'll be keeping the premium and will sell the following two-three weeks $91 and $92 put (it keeps rising because of the moving averages). Until it closed below what I've sold, I won't be assigned AAPL stocks. So, I'll continue to wait... smile.gif

how US brokerage work?

let take Vanguard Total Bond Market ETF @ USD82.17

if the brokerage is $0.01 commision per share, so I buy 10 share BND
Note: Note min brokerage fee is USD 0.01

USD82.17 x 100 =USD 821.70

Total cost + commision = USD 821.70 + $0.10 = USD 821.80 ?

Am I correct? Is there any other fee from gov?
*
That's correct (if you can find a brokerage only only charge 0.01/share).

No other fee EXCEPT when you SELL (dispose).

When you sell, you will notice there is an additional small SEC fee.
Not exactly sure how much but it was a few cents per 100 shares..

US got such thing as nominee and direct CDS kind of brokerage account?
*
Well, it's a little different and they don't use those terms: "nominee or direct CDS".
It is your own account as direct beneficiary and under your own name (equivalent to "direct CDS") but
the brokerage is custodian for holding your security (nominee).

Your name appears on the list of registered shareholders in electronic form (unless you elect physical paper certificates for an extra fee). You have the right to vote, attend share holders meeting, etc.

Basically, if you're worrying about brokerage going default, just make sure you select one that
has SIPC protection, regulated by FINRA and SEC.

Your money is protected in those registered brokerages but not the investment value (as determined by market). nod.gif
