The market is adding more and more uncertainty energy onto the soon arriving zero bond buying event. Now we worry more on market pushing it up all the way so that the huge bear can attack right after they stop the bond buying. As we all said, it's not healthy to bull so long and so strong. Strategy, strategy..... hmm.gif
*
I just stay long stocks and sell calls (and buy cheap protective far out puts) until things change otherwise.
The puts are cheap because of low volatility.

Even non-US stocks like Xinhua 25 (FXI) got bull mode started for more than two months..
My leverage play XPP suddenly got up to $56.. I was expected only $52-53. drool.gif
Like Solar stocks, going to see how high it can go.

Wanting to get back into TWTR.. but no pull back. sad.gif

If I invest in the US and lets say I have 10K USD. Does anybody know what the WireTranfer fees are from the US? Has anybody done it before? Just want to know what the hit will be.
*
Usually, the sending side have to pay fees ($40-$50 depending on wire service) but the receiving side - no deduction that I'm aware.

Just to share the charges i face
using MBB TT Online
to OptionsXpress US account

Every RM10K (max transfer per day imposed by MBB or BNM dunno which)
Pay RM10 to MBB
when reach US - OX's US bank, JPMorgan Chase, whack USD24
*
I think MBB fee is reasonable but not sure why you get whacked when reached OX's bank JPM?

I also they should allow you to transfer more than RM10k otherwise you have to transfer 3.2 times to get
equivalence of US10K.

latest on tues ....

strong german consumer confidence level
high US home sales tat beats the consensus
low interates to remain intact
more +ve data shd b coming in tis week
maybe correction not yet as that most optimistic SnP anakyst forecst it to b 1815-1826 with dows hitting 17k
better stay to watch the bull games....
*
The part about US homes sales up are true for last month anyway (May) numbers are up when they were expecting
bad to worse because of the earlier weather related declining sales.

I can see XHB fighting to move back up. Let see how June goes.. if Summer months cannot drive more sales, Fall could be bad because seasonal moves could be over. nod.gif

With TT you have 3 options :

1 - Sender bears all charges
2 - Receiver bears all charges
3 - Sender and receiver share charges

The default (unless you specify when sending) is 3, in which case charges will be as below - Maybank charge $4+ if sent from FCA + TT Charge ($12? can't remember, don't have payment copies to hand!)
Pretty much same for me - to IB or TDAM, same 24 USD charge, actually this is taken by the intermediary bank, not the receiving bank. By default when sharing charges the receiver pays intermediary bank charges.

Thanks for sharing...

Did you encounter the same issue like wongmunkeong did, where he said only max RM10K can be done per transaction?

If one wants to transfer US10K (~ RM32k), one may to do 4 times and get charged 4 separate times? hmm.gif

i see. another good thing is they have a branch in SG, anything happens can just call.
*
I doubt if got local branch worth any help or not.

I got TD Ameritrade account for very long time and if I got any questions, the local office in Singapore are clueless.
I deal with TD Ameritrade staff directly in US. Everything is just a phone, email (or chat). Distance has no bearing nowadays in today world. You have to deal with only rules and regulations where the markets are being traded.

I'm considering either TD or E*trade to invest ETF first before moving on to stocks.

i've seen somewhere, people failed to register with TD because USA tighten regulations on foreginer & TAX stuff. What do u think?
*
Yes, there are more tax rules implemented lately (applied mostly to US citizens and PRs) and somewhat become cumbersome for foreigners to open a brokerage accounts in US if they don't reside in US.

Therefore, some brokerages setup foreign offices (outside USA) to help those who are outside USA so that they can trade as well.

Since I've setup mine many years ago, there was no need for me talk to the local branch on any issues because everything that I do pertains to direct accounts in USA only - even for money transfer, statements, tax forms, beneficiaries, etc.

Also... for some of you who have setup US brokerage accounts.. remember to also name and identify your BENEFICIARIES. This is VERY IMPORTANT because in case something bad happens to you, your family member or significant other can access your funds. Otherwise, if you die, Uncle Sam will take it away as unclaimed funds.
