Hi there,

Great to be back after some years.

Now, my alza is 56k km. So far no major issues and just changed last month:
1. 4 new tyres (exsiting tyres running for 46k km)
2. 4 new absorbers
3. water pump
4. new fan/alternater belt
5. new air filter

Only a few minor things found now which need to fix soon:
1. brake pads (seems to makan left side and wont last).. anyone has this problem?
2. driver side door sensor problem... anyone know where to get good price for this?
3. klok klok sound when going thru bumps (need to tighten under carriage I think)

:>

went to see alza. got a few questions based on owners experience...:
1) middle row looks narrow, can fit 3 adults comfortably?
2) how is the aircon in third row?
3) handling good when taking sharp corners?
4) what is the maintenance like? high?
5) overall quality? thin paint? thin tin? brakes okay? etc?
6) would you as owners recommend this car or not? given a choice would you buy alza again? and why?

thanks all smile.gif

Hi Chitwatt,

Just my few cents feedback.

1. My seating position (driver and front passenger) are considered quite to the rear. Since 3rd row seat are folded down, I maximised the 2nd row to the max. It is very wide and spacious.

2. it takes a while to cool it. The front vents, just shoot the air up the ceiling and it will cover the rear.

3. Handling - add in roll bars or change to a firmer absorbers (Proride). you can foam the chasis or add in ultra racing bars if want.

4. maintainance... depending on individual, for me, it is considered good. Since I am not going back to the SC, I just need to know where to get the items. :>

5. overall quality - I personally grade it 7/10. Can't asked for more with the price. I have personnally added few items to boost the ride. DIY soundproofing, foaming of A pillar and door sills, added better speakers and underseat woofer, etc etc..
I can drive this up and down genting...why not.

6. I have recommended few friends... even told them the truth and what items to look out for.

:>

just received my Alza. Good SA promised before CNY and did deliver before CNY.

Definitely a positive upgrade from my Saga BLM ( quieter, safer, more power).
*
Congrats !!! I do agree to you. I had a tour with my friend's car, saga BLM 1.6 FLX... I can't believed that it cost 50k for such a low quality. I would say Alza has much better value here.

QUOTE(ninehneh @ Feb 3 2014, 08:51 AM)
u mean the 3rd row? it's quite comfortable ( for a 5'5 adult). My MIL was happily sitting at the back.

i chose the SE over the Advanced for a variety of reasons:
1. i guess most ppl would go for top line, which means higher demand/lower supply. So in choosing the SE, i have a chance to get car faster
2. didn't like leather seats( my bro has the kelisa imago with leather seats). they get hot and sticky. So i preferred the normal fabric seats
3. didnt see a need for GPS navigation ( i have my own GPS) and reverse camera. I find touch screen interfaces in vehicles to be distracting - i prefer to accurately know where and what each button does.
Also, the reverse camera is positioned quite prominently on the back of the car. Ppl can just stick a gum or break it off easily i think.
4. price difference - 59k vs 64k. With that price idfference i can upgrade my HU +speakers+sub if i finally intend to have a better sound system.

I actually went straight to perodua at Jalan Universiti. I think it's easier too as they manage/arrange everything end to end for me ( including my trade in). If u want a SA contact i'd be happy to share my SA contact with you.
*
Hi,

You took SE Red color. Leather seats would not have much 'dust' compared to the fabric. Yes it is cooler with fabric, but with good tint, leather shld not be a prob.

Need to keep clean if using fabric. even vacumm most time, but dust can just sip in... every slap to the seats will fly dust around.
Now I wrapped the seats with coolmax fabric cover. :>

it already comes with llumar security tint. so if you put /replace the tint, you lost that warranty as well.

Anyway, leather to me is more high maintenance as well.. need to treat it, etc etc.after a while, will stretch/sag.

With fabric, if worst come to worst, just put on another coolmax cover tongue.gif
*
thumbup.gif great that it comes with tint.. u got a good deal.

what you need to do is now is to know the car better. Enjoy it !

QUOTE(Samyck @ Feb 4 2014, 08:42 AM)
Yeah. Just spoke to SA yesterday about the EWP. Extended warranty program. Pay RM 268 for two year extended warranty. I think worth it. The condition is the purchase an be done within six months after car register and must service at perodua service centre throughout the warranty period.
*
Hi, just to add... Samyck is right. the EWP needs one requirement is must service at perodua service centre all the way for 5 years, must follow the schedule.

I previously been offered too with this EWP but did not take it as I want to have my own service at cheaper cost and don't want to be tied down for 5 years.

I heard from a VW customer that he complain on the EWP which is so-called insured using insurance. the process is so lenghty for a claim.. just like claiming for an accident. The VW took him more than a month.

My personal thought is why 2 years? why not add 5 years.. what is covered in the EWP and what is not. Best to get clear understanding before purchasing.

Again, the choice is open.. this is just my choice. :>

Hmm... subjective because dependent on your foot. whistling.gif
Without vs 410 to 420 fuel light blink.... this is usually left with 120 km to go.

Full tank for me around RM 59 to 60

Remaining km 120 I dare to drive from klang to cyberjaya test whilst fuel indicator blinking. Yes it's not advisable but I was groggy in the morning and forgot to fill up...... rclxub.gif
*
Every full tank fill up is about minimum RM60++ nowadays, our fuel tank is 43ltr and maybe 10-13 litre is reserve.

From the Odometer, each full tank, I get about 430-450km (discount the outstation drive). About reaching balance 90-120km, it will start blinking.
So, it is about 300-320 for RM60+ fuel.

2 times, I tried to use the car beyond the blinking... when reached balance < 50km, it just shows '--------'.. hahhahahaha. Some areas really don't have nearest petrol station. During this blinking period, you will drive smoother.

hehehe....but the stress and tension seeing the fuel indicator blink does wonders to your blood pressure....and yes, not many places got petrol station, like me on the NKVE to Cyberjaya, if i miss the Caltex or the fuel indicator only start blinking after i pass that damn petrol station at MOFAZ sure pek chek......
*
I have tried beyond sub 50km balance... so once you have blinking petrol sign, I would say you are good for 30km to 50km range to reach the next station. rclxms.gif So stay calm and drive smoothly.

I want to buy alza advance silver colour.. Any suggestion? It it worth it of not? Or i just buy vios j spec?
*
Now Alza is from 52k depending what spec you choose. Still good for the price. Mini MPV with 1.5

Exora is from 60k.. bigger in size. 1.6 engine..

Vios is sedan... I won't compare these.

Fahmi, I suggest that you judge what you want... a few questions if it helps.

1. what is your budget? from here, you can have a list of cars for you to choose. So called filter list.
2. what you want? you want more space? if yes, mini MPVs and MPVs would be your choices.
3. maintenance? this may give you a guide of next 5 years, how much you need to pay for maintenance..

Just do some quick research.. with the list, go have a look in details to the cars in the showroom.

Problematic cars? Not all cars are perfect. some okay, some good, maybe some owners don't care much, some owners sentitive a bit, etc etc.

Now my Alza 3 years plus with 80k mileage.. I consider it good for the value.

Again, you make the decision. thumbup.gif

I just came back from test drive the new alza advance..
This is my comment...
1) The pickup is ok.. Very responsive..
2) space n leg room is excellent..
3) design is nice
4) sterring wheel is a little bit heavy.. No EPS (electric power sterring) like myvi?
5) No uv glass coated? Previous got uv..
6) Driving feel not syok la.. I dont know how to explain.. Buy my 8 years old myvi feel more better.. Mybe the tyre they use silverstone?
7) The 7" display monitor cannot read movie file like .mkv or .avi through usb.. I try my own movie in the usb while test drive..

Other than that all is perfect..
*
Congrats Bro on the new Alza !!just to add that,

4) the steering wheel is a bit heavy, but for me just nice. The latest Myvi's is too light for me, where I can turn the steering using last 1 finger.

5) The UV coated... is it just only on the front windscreen?

6) When you said driving feel, you mean cornering or noise?

Oops.  My bad. ..

Meant to say that I will change to tyres recommended in this forum when it is time to change the stock tyres.

Unless there are some serious safety issues with the stock tyres. Do advise if got known issues.

Tq.
*
Hi Jerung,

My previous ori tyre is silverstone. Used for 6 months only and the tyres has uneven wears. After that changed to Pirelli P6, using that P6 for 2.5 years 46k km. Now using Kumho for about 5000km dah and so far okay.

Thanks all for the heads up on the tyres. Hopefully my bonus cones next month.

Kedah is quite hot. Any tips so that aircond is more cooling?

Thanks in advance.
*
A good tint would definately helps. Just get the car moving, and should cool down then.

Here in KL/PJ, the weather is hotter now.. I just turn the temperature to 7/10 from 5/10.

so voiding your warranties?
*
Anything that we modify would void warranty on that parts. Eg. I change speakers and added woofer to my alza, the original player would void warranty.
Correct me if i am wrong.

But again, depends.. as dulu touched the wiring, ended up void the head unit... when it comes to claims, it is complicated.

hehe i i directly ask the service centre about horn and player.

His advise is that , as long as wire cut.. considered void warranty.
hence my point to @zookambing. speaker/player alr voided based on what he has changed.

changing the tint will also void the llumar tint warranty.
*
Yes, you are right, once the wire is cut or tapped or changed, it is void.

Tint if change, of course will need to serve warranty from the new tint company. But beware on the rear screen where taking off existing tint may have the fog demister's circuit line broken. Better ask the new tine company before doing it. Last time my chevy has tint problem and got changed, ending up the demister not working so have to change the rear windscreen.
