Ahleong, nice attempts to shoot there.
The RQ with umbrella is hard to get the good exposure on her face, so if you manage to find someone to hold an reflector there, that would be great. Then the panning shots (don't think you pan too much, eh) not look panning at all. The shutter speed too fast to freeze the cars in action. They are like parking at the tracks. Just my 2cents here, mate. Nice attempts! Some shots are great! Particular like that shot from the crowd! |

QUOTE(basSist @ Jun 26 2006, 03:41 AM) sifu, how to get panning shots then? with slow shutter speed + keep the cars inside the frame?.. paiseh newbie here Use a lower shutter .e.g between 1/60 to 1/250 etc depending on where u pan (straight way or turning). Focus lock the area where u wan to take the pix. Then when the car coming, just follow the car via the viewfinder till the spot u have ur focus lock at and press ur shutter. Me newbie too. haha |

Add on to your suggestion ... i think monopod would be useful for stability! Cheers ...Me newbie too. haha |

I think Vyruz gave the brief info on panning shot. Just try to shoot more. You are not limited to shoot those cars in the circuit. The cars on highway also can get panning shot well.
Abit of advice is, try different shutter speeds on panning shot. Then you can check the RIMs and background for the panning effect. |

Panning could be done basically on anything that is moving... running, walking, cycling, vehicle on highway etc... QUOTE(chin_kh @ Jun 26 2006, 01:37 PM) Yea. But i have no monopod.
