Star Citizen for Asia FaceBook <---- click here, we have a small fleet set up already.. come join us

Star Citizen is an upcoming space trading and combat simulator video game for MS Windows.
Star Citizen will consist of two main elements: a persistent world massively multiplayer online game
mixing elements of first person space combat and interstellar trade (known as Star Citizen)
and a branching single-player and drop-in co-operative multiplayer campaign (known as Squadron 42),
together with customizable private server components.

The game will feature Oculus Rift support.
Both Star Citizen and Squadron 42 are set in a 30th-century Milky Way centered around the fictional UEE (United Empire of Earth), an analogue of the late Roman Empire.
A central theme of the game is citizenship (or lack thereof) in the UEE, which must be earned through player actions (such as completing a period of military service).
It is anticipated that Citizens will enjoy certain in-game benefits, for example paying a reduced tax rate or having easier access to interspecies trade, but the exact details are yet to be determined.
A strong focus will be placed on player interaction, with player behaviour influencing and being influenced by a dynamic economy system.
Star Citizen is currently being developed by Chris Roberts' Cloud Imperium Games, founded in 2011. Roberts' previous works include games such as Wing Commander, Privateer and Freelancer.

If I was so rich I may've donated, I saw this when they started the kickstarter. But, release in 1 more year, that's some time ahead.

As much as i love pilot game. i decided to wait and see for this game, as the graphic requirement is currently out of my reach. and oculus rift is not yet commercialized. but very very interesting to see how this game pans out.

not really a donation actually but more like pre-order type of deal.
you buy the ship now and can already log in to play.
but still cant fight la. just hang around at hangar looking at your ship.
the better the ship the pricier you "donate"
in other word the more you pay the better you be. a.k.a P2W
btw the lifetime insurance thing ended last 28th. so abit late la to buy now.

Its called pledging , most indie game started out as one ( although it is impossible to call this an Indie game anymore given the current budget it has ).

The dog fighting module is coming this month , so its a good time to pledge if you are looking for some space action game.
They have also reached the stretching goal of Land-combat so you can expect some FPS PVP somewhere in the future.

The game is not exactly P2W. This is NOT A F2P game , everyone of the feature you see on the current packages can be obtained in game .
The limited time insurance feature is trivial too because you still earn currency in game for repairing your ship even if you don't spend them , so its a matter of If you want to spare yourself the hassle from a few mouse clicks .
The people who paid more get merchandise and better starting kits . This happened in a lot of other B2P game including Guild Wars 2.
SWTOR was P2W , this ? Not so much .

My only complain was , they started to add in too many confusing subscription and microtransaction in order to reach their stretching goals.
Right now they basically became Money Sucker , yet as much as you can pay 15000 dollars you still can't win the game .

There's still a donation package pricing at 5 USD if you feel like helping out . This is the most anticipated online game of the year on mmorpg.com ( the most visited MMO-games web by the world ) so even if you don't pledge , check out this fantastic masterpiece .

Like the Guild War franchise basically , Buy-2-play . You buy the game once and you can play it forever .
Every spaceship you see on the expensive package can be obtained with in game currency .

There are also subscription packages , which will give you extra add-ons ingame.

Jz wondering about the insurance thingy since we can no longer get the LTI.

Assuming we buy now and play and our ship well explode? Does that mean we practically lost pretty much everything and need to get our stuff back from scratch? or the ship practically can say bubye?

Or they have some other insurance that we need to pay via RL cash? or in game currency but not as good as the LTI for the early backers?

i/we have a chance to talk directly to the developer awhile back on our TS3 server.
i think the guy said that there will be something like limited time insurance that can be bought with ingame currency.
and the LTI is not that unfair because the time to reclaim the ship will increase everytime we use it.

You don't exactly need to own the LTI , you can get the standard insurance with a relatively small amount of ingame credits .
You will also need to renew your insurance every certain period depends on which kind of insurance you bought .

Also the LTI is just an appreciation to early backers or people who pledged a large amount to help the development of the game , it does not cover any extra mods or cargo beyond your first acquired ship .

If your ship is destroyed , you will still need to wait for a certain period of time before they replaced it therefore most players will likely have more than just 1 ship.
The L.T.I also will not transfer beyond the first ship that you owned .

The most basic package can be found here

The package cost 30.00 USD and include the following :

RSI Aurora MR (the ship ) , Starting Hangar : Discount

Starting Money: 1,000 UEC
2 Month Insurance
Digital Star Citizen Manual
Squadron 42 Digital Download
Star Citizen Digital Download

If you feel like playing the game earlier with beta and alpha access ,

There is an upgraded RSI Aurora package which is priced at 40.00 USD and 45.00 USD .
Can be found here and here
Basically the same package as above but include a slightly longer insurance period with Alpha/Beta Access.

They do ? I don't think so

They are both space combat simulation game .

From combat system , game graphics , game aesthetics they look nothing alike.
Plus S.C has a much more realistic and dynamic space ship management system .

X Rebirth is not a MMO.

If you want to compare it to an older game, you can compare to Privateer or Freelancer.

Chris Roberts refrains from using the term MMO, they're calling it a "Persistent Universe" (PU) instead. Personally I don't see the difference in the terms meaning haha.

As for the PU, basically it's a sandbox universe and what you do affects it. Let's say you become a pirate and prey on trader ships, the ships won't be able to send their goods to their destination. That would create a supply problem and driving the goods' prices up. So any action done by players affects the PU.

Also, you would get a mission game (single player) called Squadron42 before the release of Star Citizen. It's basically sorta like Wing Commander. As of now, the price of the cheapest package is around 35USD - 45USD, it would still be cheaper compared to normal retail price for a AAA game (approx 60USD) Plus you dont get a ship when you order during release. So treat it as a pre-order with a bonus ship rather than a pledge if you want.
