My husband just went and registered our new born baby boy in PJ. They told us the MyKid is not available anymore. Actually the MyKid is quit convenience instead of carrying the birth certificate, you can just carry the card everywhere.

Registered my girl's birth cert in late Feb, no more MyKid. I went to JPN Putrajaya to do so.

Pretty dumb to carry a birth cert around if you'd ask me. They rolled out the MyKid but never had the compatibility within them govt depts nor most institutions.

I never think it is dumb to carry a birth cert around you.

Yes, MyKid is smaller and convenient but if you are to register your kids for anything like insurance, banking or school, you still need the birth cert anyhow.

As I know the birth cert do have the MyKid number on the top right. You still need to renew the IC when you kids reach 12 years of age.

It was the government mistake to implement them without the proper study on the MyKid. Poor thing.

my wife gave birth in a private hospital in 2009 and the hospital take care of the registration. they ask for mine and wife's copy of IC and sijil nikah. within two weeks after giving birth, we got the birth certificate and my kid from the hospital not from JPN.

my sister in law, last month, give birth in the same hospital but now they told her to register herself to JPN Muar.

I guess the system has changed and it is better if we register byself then through agent (a.k.a hospital) for security reason.

I do not think that is likely because MyKid is controlled by Jabatan Pendaftaran Negara (JPN). How the heck the hospital can produce the MyKid to you!!?? shocking.gif

He mentioned birth certificate (not MyKid), where last time most hospitals used manually to write.

Nowadays everything so high tech, birth certificate also print with computers.

Hologramme security sticker, barcodes, printed and whatnot. Yes, it's getting better with technology innovation being implemented. Anyway, to help out those that are new pertaining this matter, do refer the followings:

How could they register the birth certificate on your half when you need to present the original IC for both parents? This shows the hospital and the JPN NOT following proper procedure. Correct me if I am wrong.

Do take note that if you lose the MyKid or it is stolen, JPN will not replace. Happened to a friend of mine. The explanation she got was that MyKid is a souvenir item, not the real documentation. Birth cert is the actual identification for your kid.

apparently on their site, if you lost MyKid, you can apply for a replace card.
