Dunno if this the correct place to ask, but my 1.5 years Xarmor mec keyboard starting to have chattering / repeated characters in C V B W and backspace and yeah, it's very annoying, just writing this alone needs alot of corrections.

I've tried taking out and cleaning the switch with no success, any tips? Also is it possible to sell some parts of this keyboard? Like keycap or the "still okay" blue switches? Thanks in advance smile.gif

You don't earn much from switches harvesting.

Locally, only few ppl actually DIY and utilize switches, and they (including me) already having quite lots of spare switches yet to be used, LOL.

Again, rather than dumb the whole keyboard, why don't you fix those few failing switches? Easier and cheaper.

I'm currently staying in China but will be back before CNY, I can get some duckies zero for 250 or 200 rm (without backlight), is worth it?
Or should I buy 5 rm cheapass china membrane keyboard and fix my keyboard in KL?
Do you know where or how much it will cost to fix like 6-7 broken switches?
*
Not sure, but may be you can prepare your own switches (can buy from taobao) and later go KL find ppl to fix for you?

BTW, since you are in China, there are a lot other interesting choices of chinaboards.

Also, since you are using i-One board, you may be interested to get a set of KBC doubleshot PBT RGB modifiers.

Hello sifus , newbie here. Just wanna ask , are these mech keyboards?? I plan to buy one of them but my budget only around rm 100 - 150. Feel like buying CMstorm quickfire TK cause of the LED backlit that so damn nice. Confuse. Backlit really got so important or not? Really will satisfy you ka? or without the light , just typing ady syiok?

If you want to experience cherry mx switches, better top up around another RM50 to your budget and get a keycool/plum/noppoo.

Also, to be honest, it is quite hard or nearly impossible to find backlit mech kb with your current budget. Since backlit isn't exactly a necessity (sometimes can even count as a CONS), I will suggest you to forgo it first in your 1st board.

The cherry switch on zalman is "kailh". Clone switch.
http://www.kailh.com/gb/Newsdetail.asp?Newsid=37
*
Yup, Rapoo is the pioneer in using the kailh clone switch.

Overally, some say the switch is fine to type on, but the durability and reliability is much inferior to cherry mx.

Get it only if you plan on do switch swap to genuine cherry mx in future.

This is because chinese good in cloning but not good in quality control, or precisely, they don't want to use money for quality.
Chinese-DNA is have talent to clone things. They don't like invent nowadays.

Follow our advice, go for the entry level Chinaboard is enough already for beginner. Some China mech kb with Cherry switch can cost around 300+ rmb only, which mean around RM200 shipped.

490rmb, leopold one also can 2 set ady lol. But, u will never go wrong with filco despite the price hitting wallet badly  sweat.gif .
*
Actually, you CAN go wrong with Filco sometime, at least proven in history.

Their non-Filco made board such as the 1st gen wireless Filco and the numpad are proven not as great as normal Filco.

It combined innovation of Razer + Logitech.
And have the same logo as Roccat.

Clone lvl 9000

Although is clone, but the marketing wise is very good for this Reicat.
*
Actually, the most face palm part is the price at our local stores...

See the Cobra and the Amargeddon line... Paying premium for some random China stuffs... sweat.gif

AFAI dislike razer, at least they make proper product themselves from scratch, not just stuff a logo onto existing products.

eh Meka G1 is standard layout right? i mean the spacebar and etc.
*
Yup, infact it is the same board as WASD v1, Ozone Strike, Mionix Zibal and Costar's own OEM keyboards... sweat.gif

Also, the board is seriously overpriced locally...

In TW or other country, it should cost only RM300+/-, and often have sale which drop the price to below it.

In MY, the RRP is close to RM500... doh.gif

Rubber dome doesn't always have to be horrible. There used to be good rubber domes like some old Dells or Keytronic which are very good and relatively cheap. Keytronic is still selling on amazon and from their website for USD18-30 before shipping. Or gaming rubber domes like the CM devastator or the K3/K7 which are quite alright and the keys don't feel sticky to me when pressed off centre.

So no, I don't feel that cherry mkb are that much superior to good rubber domes or scissor switched for people who don't type alot or for poor typists.
*
It's about the durability and aging.

Rubber some when is new and fresh indeed so provide some decent typing experience at a far cheaper price. In fact their tactility is even more significant compared to mx brown.

But in the long run, rubber dome age more than mechanical.

Also, for most ppl, b4 they use mech kb, rubber dome is still perfectly fine for them. But after used mech kb and go back to rubber dome (such as home vs office), the feel is simply too awkward to explain.

mine is low cost wan.
the PCB - USD$55
the acrylic case - USD$80
the alu+acrylic plate - USD$40

total is USD$175 (not including shipping yet)

but i manage to save cost on switch because i harvest the blue switch from my fren's faulty DAS keyboard.
other stuff i bought for my custom keyboard project.
sticker - RM20
65g springs - USD$8
led - RM20 for tkl
usb cable - USD$13

so it's about RM609.70 + 20 + 28 + 20 + RM45.30 = RM723
but u still need to find your own keycaps.

Bang, stabiliser mana?

oh ya...stabs...i'm still waiting on sprit to look for plate mount stabs.
but pcb mount stabs is about RM30.
*
I got some extra plate mounted cherry stabiliser can let go, do update with me next time (after Feb) when you still can't find yours. Though, for the spacebar size, you may need to get your own wire since all my plate mounted cherry stabiliser is normal spacing one.

BTW, mind tell why you prefer plate mounted cherry stabiliser? It are the most awkward out of the three, costar style or pcb mounted cherry style are better IMO... sweat.gif

Guys, I am looking at Ducky Shine 3 (Brown) now but I am wondering if it is worth it to just pay more for the Roccat MK Ryos Pro or Razer Black Widow Ultimate Stealth instead?

I did google and read/watch up bunch of stuff but I kinda hope to see what's the general LYN folks opinion before I go get one this Thursday. Appreciate the comments, thanks!

Why pay more for less?
