it's on amazon and so coz it's all preorder. fuji msia quite efficient, i don't think will arrive here much later than in the US..just need to wait for fuji msia to announce..but i will let you guys know once i find out the release date & price here..

I think its just that pretty much most of us here not used to manual focus..even with peaking mode, its not as nice & easy to manual focus as with rangefinder's split image method..i enjoy pushing the focus ring to switch to manual, yes, and peaking mode is pretty nice..but in bright areas(especially backlit subjects) it's a little difficult to distinguish the plane of focus..

if they have split image manual focus then it's much nicer to manual focus..that's my opinion..btw if u consider the build quality & image quality from some old lens & fuji's primes..if the lenses are on par, I think the "some old lens" will be quite pricey..i'm not familiar with old lenses but I think they're not 20x cheaper than fuji's lenses..and there's also the point of having to find a good adapter to use that won't damage the sensor point on the body..
*
I didn't really like the split image thing. I mean it give a better visual indication when the spot is in focus but it distorts the image of the rest of the picture. So I really lose the sense of the overall image. I think Fuji actually made a very good choice in choosing a subtle focus peaking overlay. I've used the Sony Nex 3, 5, ,6 7 and they all have the glaring ugly focus peaking lines that really takes the attention off the scene.

I think really looking at the scene is more important. Mainly while I sold off my 18-55. But of course there is a limit to the human hand's stability, accuracy and speed. For focal lengths longer than 50mm <f2 I'm getting too many blurred pictures so that sucks too.

But that's me. I never had much time with autofocus systems so maybe it doesn't frustrate me as much.

In my opinion, the glass screen protectors are just gimmicks. A solid plastic screen protector that rest on the outer frame of the LCD offers more protection. Force will be evenly distributed due to the rigidity of the plastic and will applied on to the outer frame/camera body as that is where the protector rest on. I know some ultra snug GGS rest on the screen itself but all it's doing is just transmitting the force to the screen.

But no thanks to Fuji's dimensions I had to get the protector custom laser cut. Cost USD50.

Btw any gathering or photo shooting walkabout/session soon? I'm back in Malaysia and would like to connect with fellow Fujians here.

glass protector have one issue, the glare under sun....which for XM1 will be killing coz we dont have EVF or OVF....

The GGS glass screen protector saved my D90 and D700 screen before, camera was inside the bag and the ThinkTank bag's zip was on it. Emergency brake on my car and the bag flew and crashed into my hand rest from the back, zip knocked onto the LCD and the glass SP broke but my LCD was intact. If it was either the original, or some film type I guess time to change new LCD screen already sweat.gif That's why I'm looking hard for glass type, but no choice so just went to buy an A4 size from Daiso to use temporary while waiting for the gearmaxx to arrive.

go to Eng Tong place, although the glass sp the provide me was out of shape but still over 85% of the screen n cost around RM15 only..if buy online a bit more expensive.....but still it is a glass protection...chepo version
tell them it is part no SM-DSC3.0, bear in mind the size is kinda out,

Actually I have spare D800 LCD 3.2" GGS screen protector, but the sides just won't match. The A4 cut I bought from Daiso is just too thin >_< when installing to my screen also can see it warping already. Decided to sacrifice one of my iPhone 4 SP matte to do it, damn hard to cut since it has hard cover on both sides. Oh well, looks kinda ugly now but guess that will do it until my GearMaxx arrives in a few weeks time.
