hi, guys, was wondering would they be a lot of differences between using a laptop with i5-3230m with one with 4200m?
*
the main difference is the battery life...

if same spec
if i5 3230 = 4-5 hours
then i5 4200 = 7-9 hours

So.. RS-15 lite, with the basic setup for 4999 then?
Should i go for delivery or pickup?
I just hope the 3.1kg it weighs wont be huge noticable from the 2.0kg im using now XD

Add-on = Should i buy onsite and nego with "Marc" (apparently all my questions are directed to him :/), or find a lyn dealer?
*
its a huge weight difference 3.1kg .... plus adapter 600g and your backpack 1 kg... you will hate to carry it around

3.1 kg is almost 3 times weight of my notebook, good luck if you planned carry it around...

if it sits at home... its should be better...

Is your notebook capable of intense gaming or rendering?  brows.gif

of coz no... sweat.gif i no need to do that ma...

i seen other people buy geng geng performance laptop, in the end only use for FB/words/internet... at same time also blame for heavy and high heat issue... and envy at ultrabook weight and thinnest... no point lor...

no best bang for bucks to buy anything... just buy according requirement and needs... aesthetically pleasing laptop is a nice feature also... drool.gif

my laptop before getting thin laptop were "gaming" laptop also... but after 1 or 2 years it is outdated and heat is a main irritating issue... so i can understand the heat in the butt issues for those gaming laptop... (at time of purchase i thought it would last for years, but in real life, technology advance faster than we can imagine)

Well if your main concern is just to check fps, try

If you're using Steam, there is no keyboard shortcut. You have to go into the keyboard options, click "advanced", and check "enable developer console." Then press the tilde key (~) to open the console, and type "cl_showfps 1"

Just a quick google biggrin.gif

Sunday afternoon, I was just about to buy the RM4,899 variant of the 13" Retina MacBook Pro. Then I thought I should ask you guys one more time before purchasing such an expensive laptop.

Of course, for now I am very biased towards the rMBP. But I would like to know non-Mac alternatives that:

• Is slim, light and portable
• Has an SSD (no hybrid nor mechanical disks please)
• Lasts for more than 9 hours per charge on web surfing
• At least a 1080p (full HD screen)
• IPS screen (or good TNs)
• Performance is the least priority but as fast as possible
• Budget isn't a thing  (but the laptop must worth its pricetag)

corrected...

nice choice and it was my favorite mac variant also, and welcome to OS X, all things you do can be done on OS X, please consider add a ACPP when it almost time end...

you would not miss w8.1 that much, and still there are boot camp if you need it...

1. Preferred Brand : Asus/Lenovo/Apple. Not Acer
I also wonder would graphic card matter to my works? And why are Macbooks more favourable than Window laptops for design students, other than its superb display and uniqueness..??
*
superb display (more laptops have better resolution or colour reproduction, overall macbook screen i think is very above average only... but overall experience is the main difference for a laptop...)

and uniqueness (what is this?)

some of them know what they wants, then they go for macbook and OS X...
some of them dont know how macbook and OS X will benefits them, but seeing others using it, dunno why, then they want to use it also.. after use they will know pros and cons of OS X

either of them should be okay.. i dont see mac user complaining their laptop hangs or spoil or whatsoever so much compare to windows laptop

based on your usage (adobe programs), i think it is fine for you to you mac... people who still need windows is those who like to play games or have legacy or new software which is windows specific only. anyway, more and more software starting to cross platform

just my opinion...

(and i feel 4 gb ram in OS X 10.9.2 is almost if not better than 8 gb ram in windows)

Well typically macbooks are relatively very light and have very long battery life, but its internal specs are somewhat a turn off to some people.
*
i agree his budget a bit tight for macbooks, even the software he used already cost way more than the laptop already...

using those programs i will advice to invest to at least the mid-spec 13" rmbp 256gb with 8gb ram (RM4899)...

the main reason you pay more for the T440 is the materials and build quality is different than what a Y410P can do; they do it to maintain the weight and durability (most important factor for businessmen). so performance is sacrificed in business grade notebooks.

and do remember, Lenovo Thinkpad, Dell Latitude/Vostro, HP Elitebook/Probook, ASUS PRO mustn't be compared with multimedia and other consumer grade laptops.

vostro is almost crap anyways...
