Am comparing these two:
Y510p, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GT755M(GDDR5) + (1920x1080)@RM3399[2.7kg], 8GB, 1TB, W8.1, red backlit, swappable ODD, 120w psu, 2 yrs

GP60-2OD, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GT740M + (1920x1080; anti-glare)@RM2999, 4GB, 750GB, W8, steel series KB

Is there any other difference between these two apart from GPU,RAM,250gb? Which one will you choose between these two if the few following specs can be ignored? Why? Keen to hear your opinion guys!

I need a laptop with the following:

Can self upgrade ssd and 1 additional slot for ram
I3 gen3 at least
Free dos
4gb ram
Pls advice.

Hello all, thanks for the recommendation given. Wife and i decided to get the LENOVO S410p, the I7 4500U,  Nvidia GT720M 2GB with 8GB RAM together with Windows 8.1 for RM2350 along with the usual Laptop bundle, a rucksack laptop bag and a Yes4g Doogle with RM50 Credit.

The laptop weigh at 2.1 Kilo is fitting enough for her and she is quite happy with the overall performance of it.
Downside, i dont think that it has a HD display on it. Hahaha.

what's the cheapest price that can get these specs?

15"+ screen
Full HD 1920p resolution
GPU GT640M or equivalent
CPU i5
500gb hdd

FYI, I did check through all the manuals and also google forums before asking. It's just that HP outlet is saying otherwise. Will go to another store and check it out again.

My brother had an Asus UX31A. It is pretty smooth and all but he said it lags when streaming videos on fullscreen (youtube). Playing videos using 3rd party program like VLC or windows media player works fine though.

Can anyone recommend/show me some options? should i get a mac?

Hmm seems good, especially 1TB HDD, that'll ensure I have plenty of storage for my audio production needs as well as media consumption of videos.

But I'm still skeptical about Lenovo though, maybe in the future I might get one. All about the brand .

1. Preferred Brand: Any brand except Toshiba, Acer, HP, Compaq (horrible experience with these brands)
2. Budget: Less than RM2000
3. Usage: MS Word and MS Excel, lot of number crunching, surfing and watching downloaded movie/music
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14 inch and above, the bigger the better.
5. Hardware built-up should also have additional RAM slot for future RAM upgrades, Bluetooth and webcam.
6. OS: Prefer Windows 8 and above, 64-bit
7. Above mentioned budget should also include license to use Windows 8 and the latest MS Office.

What are my options??

mba 2013 13" is just starting from 3299... at that price point i dont see any laptop is better ones in the market (at least the list above)... i agree with TJ most probably lagging in youtube is due to slow internet in meresia... more than the hardware itself... this is 2013 leh, not 2005, all intel processor (even those new type celerons or B960 etc...), i believe is capable handling 1080p video
my colleague dell mobo change twice, daugtherboard once, harddisk twice... even adapter and battery changed once (at 2nd years 9 months, not sure how he nag the dell to change for him)...

the only thing that dell is proud is their warranty, the stuff QC is generally low (inspiron/vostro line), just my personally experience...

and keyboard quality is bad either (old insprion and vostro line, not sure now insprion 7000 how). you can feel the gap everytime you type...

so according to your experience which brand usually have the best build quality and less problem ya??

And what is your opinion on Fujitsu??

budget laptop not necessary low QC low quality, look at lenovo... i brought an RM1k lenovo G400s (lowest spec) for my gf cafe... so far so good, definitely worth every cents i paid, just look at the keyboard is already worth back the price (if compare to RM1.5k-2.5k dell-ish keyboard)...

got free laptop backpac also (lenovo brand, retail i think about rm100)

his Vostro 5470 has problem with the wifi card, which is a big issue for 5470 users. thats why he is unsatisfied.

Is it possible to find a laptop with high performance and FHD screen but its weight is below 2kg????(what brand also can except acer)
