Wow. you got so many goodies.... Nice man.. I wonder where can get their t-shirt and rubber mats..? The worst part of the car is the rubber mats, I don't why the original rubber mats was so small. My mum tell me the steal from Peugeot 308 or 208.. Hahahaha hmm.gif
*
The t-shirt they gave was for 208 GTi and the rubber mat wasnt genuine Peugeot mats. It's those self cut ones available at aceesory shops.

Not sure about others but I think this applies to 408T only. I tried taking my NA to 160kmh on LATAR yesterday. Scary experience with the soft suspension and overassisted steering. The NA is like that recluse librarian always having a pile of books under her arms.

Regarding about the changing battery, I do ask the SC in CSL technician. He actually is the head of technician. He said not much skill required, just make sure the right voltage are input else the circuit board will blow away and it cost RM300++. There no need to turn on the engine while changing battery (Yes is true, cause I see him change my battery). The only thing which not running well is the date and time, this can be done by reset back the time. (Please check your manual on reset the time). Other work as normal. Peugeot create this gimmick is just for $$.

Regarding about the battery brand and quality, actually almost pretty much the same unless you know the person inside. Most in the market battery are OEM, they arrive here only put label which include famous brand (I think you should know why). Regarding the quality, yes is have been drop tremendously due to raw material increase. All this info are from my sister-in-law which one of the OEM company. Normally I get battery from her many year, so far no problem and last a very long time for my old car 2-4 year. But so far I have not yet test with Peugeot 408 as my battery still under warranty. So i have no reason to go back there to change.

Interesting....also makes sense about the gimmick part. I mean, you've got to be an incredibly horrible engineer to use volatile memory to store programming for critical automotive systems.

Hi... any recommendations for coating...
*
Try Detailien's Optimum Coating/Alient Coating. Their customers love their work.
I've seen one myself and it's very good. 12H hardness, lifetime warranty.

I personally did Sierra Glow for the cheaper price (RM800 compared to RM2.5k for others) and I'm regretting it. Scratch resistance is very poor, workmanship is also poor. The worst part is I booked an appointment one week ahead, and was the first person to arrive at their shop and waited for them to open. I left my car there and went away, only to return 5 hours later and find that they serviced other customers first. I had to wait another 3 hours while they worked on mine. End of the day, the stains on my paint were not removed before they coated it. A couple of days later it reappeared and I just don't have the time to return for a rework. I actually took a day off work to get that coating done.

I guess what you pay is what you get.

Well this is heard from my friends which is from zerotohundread club member and also a racer. The only reliable German brand is Mercedes which have bring the entire reputation on German technology, other like BMW and etc. Tt just problematic car. That the reason you still see old Mercedes still. Sometime, we can forget the resale value of the car if the car did not give you a problem. But if a good resale value, I am pretty sure there is are reason why they are. My colleague have a same though German product at first, but after having it below are the concern :-

1. Car not usable for more then half year, still don't know how long it need to be continue like this.
2. Buying second car.
2. Need to pay 2 installment.
3. If sell of the Jetta, he going to lost RM50,000 at least. But anyhow, he have decide to sell it. A smaller pain rather a big pain later.
4. Need to find buyer. As you know this have been spread out trough the news. Very hard to find buyer.
5. Warranty have been void.
6. Problem have not been solve. Therefore is difficult to give a test drive for the buyer.
7. Maintain getting higher. Due to car have problem, he always to do test drive after each repair.
8. Cannot go outstation.
and etc.

Regarding the spare parts of any car. I usually get my parts from Jalan Ipoh, opposite of Nissan Tan Chong HQ.  So far they give me a very reasonable price and I know them more then 20 years. They only sell part or distributor, they did not have technician to fix for you. The boss are quite generous also, he always advise me on the product which is reasonable good and safe money. Last few day I just hang around with the boss, the boss said my this car 408T is quite reliable. Normally the wear and tears stuff only begin after 4 year. If your car don't have free service or warranty over, I can recommended using NGK Platinum spark plug, it can increase your car power and safe more petrol. Last time I test with my old car, it can safe at least 40KM to 50KM each tank. Normally I just change a good spark plug and steal filter air intake. For car battery, if you want. I can inquiry for my from my sister-in-law which is an OEM manufacture also. The shop is in Danau Kota Setapak. I have a friends also doing car lamination, I think this is better then those do a Teflon undercoat. Cause i see my friends do a lot of high end car like Lamborghini, Ferrari, Meserati and etc. Maybe you should ask around the price then you can compare.
*
Youch! I never knew owning a VW or most german cars can be such a big pain. People used look at Peugeot with the high regards back in the 80s and 90s but it was downhill there after. Good to know it's picking back up as I see more and more Pugs on the road everyday.

Is there any issue with our gear lock? Did i miss anything?  sweat.gif

I think he's referring to the security lock that doesn't allow you to shift out of P without using a key and disarming the lock first. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Does it sound like some kind of knocking sound from the suspension? Mine started making noise from both front and rear. It's like I can hear every bump the suspension picks up, especially when I drive over the newly patched rough roads, I get continuous knocking sound from the suspension. Wasn't there till 2 weeks ago. Gonna send back to SC next week or so.
*
Aaaand the knocking sounds are back. Both front and rear. So I can safely rule out rear absorbers since the SC has changed them.

Anyone had this and got it fixed yet?

Mine got mild knocking sound on flat road with the speed of below 20kmh.... But no sound on bumpy road YET....

SC going to change both rear absorber under warranty for me...
*
They did that for me. Seemed to stop the knocking sounds for a couple of weeks but now it's back. It sounds like the suspension has something loose, like damaged bushes or something.

While we're on this topic. I got my car on 22 February and my first inspection was on 31 March.
So, if we were to look solely at month, when would the due date be for my first service?

Clic says it's in August but the SC that did the inspection says it's by 30th June.

Clic is right. As per manul, service intervals are 10Kkm/6months. An extension of 500km/2weeks is provided, after which warranty voids!

A very important factor here is, which ever comes first!  Ppl often forget or disregard this cos not clearly stated, only implied. For example, having done 8Kkm in 6 months, do you think you can continue for another 2kkm before service? 2weeks from 6months date, warranty voids. Even if your car is not driven 1km more, warranty voids due to time exceedance.

In your case August is your next service. I suppose the SC staff has difficulty with simple math!

Ok. Got it. That makes sense.

LOL. Phantom reader part.

rclxms.gif

I owned the 408 NA for almost 2 years now, no major issue but the battery lasting 1 year or less (quoting for my own experience) is such a nuisance but then again, I have my radio/player on 99.9% of the time with air cond blasting all the time of coz.

To save the bat juice, i have resorted to have auto wiper/auto lights off, but not sure if it really help much.

so far many things are quite normal including the service cost. change tyres at 40k km, only change one burnt head lights (about 2 weeks back). my only 'almost a complain' is the 4 speeder transmission (i blame it solely for the higher FC and the slower century sprint). i wish i'd have the 6 speeder from 408 Turbo all the time.
I can live with the 'shorter' wiper at driver side still.

Speaking of which have you tried test drive Renault Fluence? what is your thought?

I have and some how still i will take a Pug 408 over Renault Fluence at any given day and strange enough the only part i wish from Fluence is the 6 speed CVT.

My wife bought Mitsubishi ASX 2WD just about 2 months ago and ASX is not a bad car per se and has its own merits but I would have wanted a auto cruise button in that car and perhaps better built/assembly work quality (doors are too light and does not close neat sometimes if you are too gentle), though having leather seat but no rear air cond vent! ,  and that puny boot space. But she has wanted a SUV at a very low entry price, so we end up having ASX in the house, and two 2.0s in the house doh.gif

Driving a Pug gives you a sense or rather a level of satisfaction that you can't get from driving a local nor Japanese nor Korean (which all I have owned before), it is just that nice fuzzy feeling in your chest like you are in love wub.gif

Btw, i am over 40 too wink.gif
*
Agreed on the fuzzy feeling. Maybe they put some kind of drug in the ventilation system?
