QUOTE(KrisMas @ Jan 28 2014, 11:15 AM) M16 is an excellent 'traditional' wax. I say it's 'traditional' cuz it's like decades ago when this first came out. Wow.. u did keep stock for it? i had read some review but it is in 2004-2005. now it had stop production..Pro: Very durable; nice & clean looking (though no 'deep-look' like carnauba waxes); offers good protection; would rival the notorious Collonite 476. Cons: application is a bit difficult as you'd need a clean surface; on not-so-clean surface (topping up, etc) you'd get terrible streaking/clouding; would stain plastics and trims; this is a wax that would test your 'apply sparingly' technique to the limit - just a little bit too thick then you'd have a big problem in your hand in removing the residue. Can't compare with the Ultimate range cuz I haven't used them enough to form an opinion. But for the M16, I have 2 cans and that's more than enough to pass down a couple of generations.... One of the can that I have is easily more than 5 years old and hasn't shown any sign of deterioration AT ALL....and who knows how long has it been in storage before I bought it.... coz i had just bought the Meg's New Car Kit.. it include a small bottle of Ultimate Liquid Wax, just wonder should i keep on continue on the Ultimate or change to this #16 i found out Liquid is very easy to use, but not use abt Paste.. im a newbie just started to take care my car... |

QUOTE(KrisMas @ Jan 28 2014, 11:34 AM) My suggestion for you is to keep using the more modern sealants/waxes, they're more user friendly. The 'old school' paste waxes is a little different and a little tedious in term of application. Furthermore, M16 doesn't like too much if applied, like I said before, on not-so-clean surface - you'd need to at least use a paint cleaner/mild polish before each application or else you'd get all sort of problems. Thanks for ur suggestion.. will continue use back the Ultimate, and buy 1can M16 keep stock first..But, saying all that, if applied correctly, I honestly don't think there are many other affordable sealants/waxes out there that can better or match its performance....muahahaha.... *shucks*....thinking back....I think my can(s) of M16 are more than 10 years old already..... btw ur M16 is more than 10 years old?! would it be dry up? till like this.... QUOTE(KrisMas @ Jan 28 2014, 02:59 PM) Have you ever seen any labels on the bottle/can from any brands of wax that mention DO NOT USE ON WHITE CARS? Well....I haven't....and I've never heard such a thing. Oh Yea! thank for tips.. will proceed to buy later after work Maybe what the article meant to say is you couldn't get that deep carnauba-look on a white coloured car when using a carnauba-based waxes, hence not so suitable if that's what you're looking for. If for protection and the rest of other stuffs, I don't think there's any difference whether the colour is white or black...I mean clear coat is clear coat and they're the same regardless what the colour is underneath...... thanks sifu! |

QUOTE(windskill @ Feb 5 2014, 11:08 PM) Yea, actually it works the same too. Oh got it...then how abt the Ultimate Quik Detailer? In wht situation i should use this item? Some ppl suggest to use it top up on the base wax as it to enhance the water repel ; some are after wash then use UQD.. I don't think there's a need to top up with Quik Wax or Quik Detailer. An overlapping action when waxing should give you a good coverage of wax on the paint surface. Top up quik wax only when you do your weekly/bi-weekly car wash maintenance (especially when you think the water can't really bead well on the paint surface) I realise this QD is very high consume...yet UQD quite expansive compare with others Mag's liquid product |

QUOTE(scoutfai @ Feb 6 2014, 07:46 AM) Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Detailer, as the name suggests, is just a quik detailer, which is a kind of mild cleaning agent for user to spray and wipe in order to clean up finger print, light dust, bird drops, etc. It is more suitable for maintenance use, i.e. after you park your car, the next morning you see a lot of dusts landed on it, or your kids finger print are all over the panel. Then you can wipe it using quick detailer. Thanks for guidance ... Nevertheless, another good selling point about Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Detailer, is its superior water beading effect! Really boost up your car panel water repellent property. If you are the kind of guy who goes after crazy water beading effect, you can top up with the Meguiar's Ultimate Quick Detailer after the wax cure for about 1 night, just in case. I tried it once and is very impressed by its water beading property. I am equally impressed by the price tag though. So I never use it again, I do not feel the tiny water bead worth every cent I am paying. LOL anyway beside than Meguairs's Ultimate Quik Detailer... is there any product to introduce where can dilute with water.. looking for somethin economic. cheers! |

QUOTE(scoutfai @ Feb 6 2014, 11:56 AM) Like KrisMas has said, I too never came across or aware of any product that function like Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Detailer, but in large volume and can be diluted with water. Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Detailer is a consumer range product, only sold in that size. So yes I do agree with you it is not economical. If you have a weekend car then probably worth it but if your car is daily driver, I do not think worth the money. A good wax alone can provide equally amazing water beading effect. The following product by Meguiar's is in large volume only: ![]() D155 Detailer Last Touch Spray Detailer, 1 Gallon This one if used as clay lubricant can be diluted half water half product. For use as quik detailer purpose, straight out of the container, no dilution. But it has no Hydrophobic Polymer Technology like the Ultimate Quik Detailer. So it will only clean up light dust, finger print, smudge, etc. But will not boost water beading effect. However if only intended to use as spray quik detailer then this is suitable. The following has Hydrophobic Polymer Technology, so it should boost water beading as good as Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Detailer: ![]() If you want boost up your wax water beading, try spray wax instead. Spray wax available in large volume. QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Feb 6 2014, 11:58 AM) again, QD. eg: random bird shit drop on hood, 1 small spot. you don't wash the whole car just for a spot right? that's when QD comes in. they have cleaning properties (eg: IPA, which may actually strip wax if not careful) which will dissolve dirt or in this case, that bird shit. Thanks for the info bros.. learn something on "toys".. will try to see how much the price the Spray Detailer.. stuff like bird dropping/tar/tree sap/bugs etc are best cleaned before they harden/etch to the paint surface/clear coat. and QD is essential in doing that. i keep a very small spray bottle in my new car and whenever i see a spot i just whip out that bottle and tissue paper to QD>wipe |

QUOTE(jchue73 @ Feb 6 2014, 12:46 PM) g88 mentioned this previously that as alternative to UQD, you can use Meguiars M135. It's the professional range series of the UQD that can be bought in a gallon. All these professional series kinda rare to get it on market... hardly find on Ace Hardware shop.. ![]() ![]() He also suggested alternatively you can get a gallon of ONR and dilute it as QD. The decision to use ONR / any other rinseless type of product like Meguiars D114 or M135 / UQD depends on how much dirt you want to clean. UQD is usually very light dust and dirt. From my very limited experience, if the surface is not clean, you'll experience cloudy / streaking on the paint your're waxing. At least that happens to the waxes I use. I read that the Last Touch was suppose to be the one to use but now with newer products, people skip this and got for M135. Perhaps due to it's hydrophobic qualities. The professional / detailer version of Meguiars spray wax is the D156. |
