Hey guys, I just recently bought a Kia Cerato and I am thinking of giving it a coating to seal the new paint. That said I am in kuching and the things we get here all suck compared to KL. so i did a little searching and came upon this guys who clean luxury cars. http://www.webdo.cc/autowax/portal_a1.php?...2&button_num=a1heres their website. and the quotation was Paint cleaning and carnava wax 350(1.5 months) Paint cleaning and hydrophibic coating 550 (3 months) Paint correction and crystal coating 1200 (12 months) what do you guys think? should i get this? or can i just DIY with a wax job but i always feel I am making a mistake cleaning my car

QUOTE(CoffeeDude @ Jan 3 2014, 01:44 PM) Firstly are you a DIY person? Do you just a clean car or a defect free shiny car? if i can I would love to DIY. I rather not depend on paying others as I have a house that is empty most of the time so I can use it to store my car stuff. I just am worried I make a mistake DIYing. Last week i washed the car and did the dash board the tire but I still felt not satisfied with the buff. I didnt wax cuz not sure how.

QUOTE(MyWifeCar @ Jan 3 2014, 02:02 PM) The stuff that you used might not get you the result you want, mind to share what did you used to clean? I got all of them from Giant as I was rushing. Power101 or something like that. then i went to spring to get rainx and saw meguiars products. So yeah I wasted money getting malaysian made car products. so my question is, is getting this crystal coating worth it? I think its a little hard to believe.

QUOTE(MyWifeCar @ Jan 3 2014, 03:25 PM) The only thing you need to be concerned of is the product durability. Other than that, is the workmanship. I coat my own car, the coating last. There are so many semi-permanent coating liquid out in the market. what are you using mate? I think Ill diy. The crystal coating is crazy expensive

QUOTE(KrisMas @ Jan 3 2014, 03:32 PM) If they're really using Choose Nanotech DLS 9H coating, RM1200 is a steal. It would be RM3k or more around here.... ummm...so this isnt legit? figures

QUOTE(KrisMas @ Jan 3 2014, 04:13 PM) I wouldn't say that. It could be legit cuz there was this one time when a salesman came over the detailing centre below my office and was selling the 50ml bottle of DLS 9H for RM270. So the coating itself isn't that expensive. It may just be that people here in Klang Valley are just inflating the prices for their coating jobs. And I also just got to know of a place that could do the Gzox Real Glass Coat for around RM1.5k ~ RM1.8k only..... QUOTE(MyWifeCar @ Jan 3 2014, 04:22 PM) I use Dodo Juice Infinity Sealant and CQ UK. Actually the standard coating would be that kind of prices, as they will need to do paint correction prior to apply the coating. Paint correction is a tedious task that require patient and time. so would it be worth the 1k plus to do this car?

QUOTE(CoffeeDude @ Jan 4 2014, 01:13 AM) you mean this one? Paint cleaning and hydrophibic coating 550 (3 months) 3 months refers to the durability right? Another option go to https://forum.lowyat.net/AutomotiveGarage and search for sellers doing PERMANON PLATINUM Coating Service. QUOTE(muyo @ Jan 4 2014, 02:03 AM) Uhm, this one is not glass coat. If is a real glass coat is cost more than 1k and at least 3-5 years of warranty. Yeah, but mostly coating doesnt cover warranty for watermark. Please do more research before spending. actually whats the good sides of doing these expensive coating when I can wax the car myself on a regular basis?

QUOTE(KrisMas @ Jan 4 2014, 08:48 AM) Yes. How much is it? The salesman also did show me the sealant called nano something...rm120/100ml bottle. Expensive if it only can last for a few months.... The good side is you don't have to re-apply regularly like a wax or sealant...but, like ppl before me said, you'd still need to maintain regular and proper washing like normal. If you think you can maintain the passion of waxing your car regularly, might as well go for normal wax/sealant. These coatings aren't that easy to DIY and prep work (compounding/polishing) need to be tip top unless you dont mind sealing all those defects under it for a couple of years. QUOTE(KrisMas @ Jan 4 2014, 08:50 AM) You'd also need to think about the claying, polishing, etc., i.e. the prep works before applying any wax/sealant/coating. QUOTE(CoffeeDude @ Jan 4 2014, 08:59 AM) How about the feel? Does coating give the same feeling as wax/sealant when touched? I like smooth slippery feeling. I think I have the passion to wax my car on a regular basis since Kuching is like a dead town to me any ways. Ill buy the maguires car wax and do it every week or so. Btw guys thanks so much for replying my noob questions. Much respect for car enthusiasts as they are not selfish about keeping knowledge

QUOTE(CoffeeDude @ Jan 4 2014, 11:03 AM) No need to wax every lah. So free meh? LOL Once a month is more than enough IMO. QUOTE(Quazacolt @ Jan 4 2014, 11:09 AM) Avangelice^ what coffee said. if you can wash your car every week without fail with the proper way, your car will be in good condition already. wax every 2-3 months assuming you done PROPER surface prep (bare minimum clay, polish if got defects/just want the ultimate shine) 1-2 months maybe if you ocd and/or the car is 24/7 outdoor under sun etc. hahahaha...like i said noob here. To be honest I never waxed any car before and never ever sent my car for waxing. so yeah super noob in car detailing but what i do not lack is passion!

QUOTE(CoffeeDude @ Jan 4 2014, 12:45 PM) One thing to note. You should get yourself a clay bar. It can remove the above surface dirt so that the wax can bond properly to the paint and also helps to make the surface smooth. thanks so much for the info! Will try to find one seller now This post has been edited by Avangelice: Jan 4 2014, 01:15 PM
