This happens because games today are made solely for money, not because they want to provide a memorable experience to gamers with decent value. Instead they shove the new games with tonnes of DLCs, microtransactions and so on to offer poor value to gamers. Does older games does that? Grid 1's $10 DLC gives 10 new cars with a track each. Grid 2's same value DLCs offer one track and 3 cars while some $6 DLCs offer only 4 cars.
Grid 2 is heavily dumb down from the first game with much terrible value. There aren't any assist settings and even cockpit view is removed while the physics has become incredibly arcade. The career mode is poorly done compared to grid 1. Far lesser real world tracks while there are way too much city tracks that are poorly designed. Lack of motorsports emphasis hurt the game a lot as the series roots lies with motorsports. The only thing that was improved tremendously is the multiplayer.
Grid 2 felt like a shadow of its former self.
I completely understand what you mean bro. I've played Grid 2 on PS3 before just single player and I have to say Grid 1 was definitely better. I just played like around 20 matches with 4 friends today online and I have to say that Codemasters might have been focusing too much on the online aspect of the game which makes the single player game not that fun as it suppose to be..Maybe Grid 3 will be awesome seems they have pretty much dealt with the online part of the game. You never know. I understand your frustration of DLC as well as most of the awesome cars are DLC and it cost too much to get it, like 20usd+ for all of it on sale.. They definitely trying to milk someone out of it, that is good marketing strategy though but not good for the players
Do you guys play racing games with a controller, keyboard or wheel?
I've been thinking about buying a wheel for a long time now (sort of like a childhood desire never fulfilled), and money is no where near an issue. What I worry instead is that I would hardly utilise it.

I normally play with controllers. If I wanna play one those wheels, with chair and gear i'd go to my nearest cyber cafe. They have all this and I play with my friends normally GT5.
If you don't think you'll play it that much you might wanna consider just normal controllers. Since the wheel is expensive
