Law degrees are like accounting degrees in the business world. Its pretty useful info if you want to work in large corporations and also small and medium firms. Many people in MNCs have a legal/accounts backup degree or foundation. To be an advocate solicitor takes a little bit more of inherent personality. Got to have a big of big mouth factor and a bit of thickfacedness.
If you work in the usual legal firms you need to know little bit of everything unless u work in a big law firm which has specialised departments then it would be beneficial if you did legal specialisms in those fields e.g. litigation, nego& arbitration, contruction, IP, tax etc.
If you want to work in Malaysia but do a foreign degree you have to do CLP. There aren't any more preferred foreign Unis that dont need CLP. Even the 4 year Aussie programs that used to be exempt are no longer so. No choice. Unless u do 4 year local programme then u are exempted isnt that so?
