I'm not sure what position you will get in a law firm. But quite a few companies hire law graduates as consultant or legal advisor.

Btw, I saw one similar thread like this in here. smile.gif

Well, getting a law degree is tough. I doubt the CLP is any more daunting than the actual 4 year degree...

That's what I heard from my friend too. The passing rate is quite low. Try to look at business firms.

If that's the case, why didn't you register yourself at an Inn in the UK? I'm sure that would've been an easier alternative.

Yeah, fees is about $11,000+ pounds and that doesn't include living expenses for a year.

Law degrees are like accounting degrees in the business world. Its pretty useful info if you want to work in large corporations and also small and medium firms. Many people in MNCs have a legal/accounts backup degree or foundation.

To be an advocate solicitor takes a little bit more of inherent personality. Got to have a big of big mouth factor and a bit of thickfacedness.

If you work in the usual legal firms you need to know little bit of everything unless u work in a big law firm which has specialised departments then it would be beneficial if you did legal specialisms in those fields e.g. litigation, nego& arbitration, contruction, IP, tax etc.

If you want to work in Malaysia but do a foreign degree you have to do CLP. There aren't any more preferred foreign Unis that dont need CLP. Even the 4 year Aussie programs that used to be exempt are no longer so. No choice. Unless u do 4 year local programme then u are exempted isnt that so?

There are many Inns', some expensive, some less expensive. I know a few inns that charge less than 6k pounds.

But anyways, if you're already back home, just go ahead and do the CLP man. Is there any reason as to why you don't wanna do it? Lost interest in Law already?

If you're working your way towards your CLP, then I guess you shouldn't be too bothered about where your work, or what the job title is.

Just grab some generic banking job while you save up for your CLP. I'm sure that should suffice, and it won't make your resume look bad smile.gif

It is a norm to start at low pay. After several years of experience, you will see your pay blooming up (but of course, you have to work hard for it).

Chambering student (ie CLP grad) can get as low as RM500

Fresh Lawyer average starting salary is RM2000 (if you ever though Lawyers earn a lot of salary then think again)

So RM1200 for para legal executive is already consider not bad wink.gif doh.gif
