ah.. long time no aktif kat sini d.. ald v55! O_O

anyway.. my flx suddenly develop some problems

1. when press remote to lock car, left side of the signals, both back and front is not blinking.. only the right side are blinking normally indicating arming the alarm. same thing occurs when trying to disarm the alarm by remote, beep beep, only right side got signal lights, left tarak

2. the driver side door lock kenot jump up or down on pressing remote.. very inconvenient as everytime i get out of the car kena manually lock the driver side door before pressing the remote again to arm the alarm..

any idea what's wrong? i'm using the aftermarket auto brake lock btw..

Oil filter wont be as efficient after 5k km.

Hi Bro... notworthy.gif

True...True... notworthy.gif

QUOTE(ruby1288 @ Nov 28 2013, 10:58 AM)
just follow the old man saying. .
SS change at 5k
FS change at 10k. At 5k, need to change oil filter and top up EO.
even they write 10k for SS, you go back at 5k and demand them to change.

yeah true, one can only suggest, it's the owner who will decide. btw I truly believe 10k only for FS, not advisable for SS.

I'm curious to know how long campro can last with SS or FS when proton did test the engine. It'll be troublesome for them if campro easily fail especially under warranty

To put 4ward my own views re OCIs... rolleyes.gif

Feel in view of functions of EO & oil filters generally...
Me wld find a regular & more frequent change of both items wld b MORE beneficial 2any engine... tongue.gif

New clean oil with fresh additives is (IMHO) anytime better than a better EO carrying arnd contaminants 4dbl the period...of course if affordable... icon_rolleyes.gif

Present day philosophy is more inclined 2wards care of the environment...thereby now increasing the OCI & cutting down disposed EO... whistling.gif

btw i did saw a brochure for service price sometimes ago (cannot find anymore) that say 80k package which include timing belt is slightly more than 1k..i believe it include major svc oso..

Hi Bro... notworthy.gif

Normally...Usually... tongue.gif

Besides TB & FEAD belt change, there is the Bearings, oil seals change....

change timing belt better change waterpump also

Moreover, (as posted by Bro abv) also advisable 2change water pump & gasket...cos same area & a convenience/prevention 4future ie till nxt TB change...

Feel if one intends 2keep the car & b free of undue stress/worries, best 2do all as laid out in manufacturer's schedule...

As alwaz, the owner is the Paymaster & therefore the Decision-maker...true?

ps. For such important items, suggest best 2ensure Ori parts are used...they are not items 4savings...

Let us know if it works, I have been thinking how to insulate the airbox but never tried anything. Was thinking of using insulflex but mahihi said will trap heat instead  rclxub.gif
*
Hi Bro... notworthy.gif

Yup, Bro Mahihi is correct...and so is Bro TitanRev... thumbup.gif
IIRC acc2 basic Sc (learnt in Sec Sch?), DARK surfaces (eg Insuflex = Black) are Good Absorbers of heat whereas Shiny ones (eg Shiny side of Alu foil) are Good Reflectors... tongue.gif

I don't think that theory is applicable in this case, as insulflex is chiefly used in the industry to insulate air conditioner pipings  sweat.gif

If you've applied insulflex under your bonnet, you will see that your bonnet won't feel hot after driving as it is insulated from the engine heat.
*
Yup, Bro..true also... notworthy.gif

There's the other characteristic due2 material used... tongue.gif

Insuflex is made of POOR conductor of heat (non-metal) whereas the Alu foil is of metal...which is a GOOD conductor!!
Phew... Sc can b very contradictory, rite? sweat.gif

So it finally falls back on2 which feature & how it wld serve the application well...
Feel Bro Mahihi wld hv more tech info on Insuflex's properties...how it is more inclined towards...
Ie as an insulator of heat or as a sound insulator...
Over2yu, Bro Mahihi... notworthy.gif

Mayb a combination of BOTH materials wld b Best? icon_idea.gif

Insuflex as an Insulator on the inside with Alu Foil as the Reflector on the outside?

guys..ive been practising 10k oci on my flx using fully syn oil..but do i need to change the oil filter every 5k km..already 20k and only change the filter same time as eo..now service bawah pokok thats why concern a bit lah..mileage 34k km right now..
*
Hi Everyone!! notworthy.gif

Hi Bro... notworthy.gif

Re oil filter change, in theory (ole skool, mayb?) oil filter shld b changed @5k Km intervals...
However, nowadays...there are oil filters whose manufacturers claim a longer period of use is supported... tongue.gif

So as in all things in this century....it finally rests upon owner's belief & decision, not 4getting his "pocket"... rolleyes.gif

Me?
Me practise age-old tested OCI & filter changes...after all, filters are cheap compared 2investment in better EOs...
True?

Over2yu, Bro! cheers.gif

ps. Even in US, OCI @3k MILES (equiv to 5k Km) 4SS EOs are now considered UNnecessary & a myth...a waste & bad 4environment!!
And in Msia, many carmakers/suppliers are changing over to 10k Km OCIs...even for SS EOs!!
So...? icon_rolleyes.gif

ok thanks bro

but hor if i want to change the oil filter at 5k oci..when changing oil filter the eo will also drain right? before this service bwh pokok punya..the filter seem no brand..not the blue color like proton give one.
*
Hi agin, Bro... notworthy.gif

Yup, there's a lil bit EO loss when yu change oil filter...
However, only juz the oil in the filter...NO other/xtra loss... icon_rolleyes.gif

Run engine 4a few mins...
Then Wait a few mins 4EO 2drain down in2sump...
Chk oil level via dipstick...
If level on dipstick still between Min & Max, no worries...still good! thumbup.gif
If yu want, can top it up 2Max mark... "Same difference" as not topping up if abv true... rolleyes.gif

Re blue Ori filter can b bought @spare parts shop...
Me got same Ori 4only RM10!!
**saves RM2+ tongue.gif

put it this way:
if someone is determined to jack your car, whatever you do can be countered.

what's good does your locks do when they just toll away your car while pretending to be DBKL?
*
Hi Bro... notworthy.gif

If yr car make & model is targetted, then those ppl wld hv come prepared & yr car wld b taken, not matter how it has been equipped with watever anti-theft locks/gadgets... sweat.gif

However, if it's juz a random car theft, then it becomes which car is a better "deal" 2pick & drive away...
So between yr car & others in same area, those ppl wld select the one with the least hassle 2take away...
In such cases, dun think they wld hv come with a tow-truck... rolleyes.gif

Anti-theft devices are juz wat they are...deterrents... tongue.gif
Being Man-made, these devices can also b overcomed by Man, too... icon_rolleyes.gif

Note : Recent hijacking cases are DIRECT ones...taken are cars left unattended with key in; engine running or even with unsuspecting passengers.... rclxub.gif

*
Hi Bro... notworthy.gif

Term "overfill/overfilling" kinda subjective...
A lil bit abv Max mark on dipstick shld b ok IINM... tongue.gif

Fyi me hv removed xcess EO b4 by very carefully loosening sump drain nut...
Hv spare EO 2top up if necessary. ..

Mayb a large syringe with aquarium tubing might juz also do the job...?

Abang r3apers, challenges is a positive word because my family is having some difficulties, that include my brother's BiBa just got ram by a truck. So, instead of using negative words like "Problem", "trouble", I choose to use the word Challenge instead. Seriously, I think I deserve a better tomorrow after many challenging years, so I rather choose to live a better life and stop being negative.

Hi Bro YAB... notworthy.gif
