Yesterday, I work through until midnight to setup my open pod...finally got it installed....I wanted to do some test between drop in and open pod. It terms of intake temperature. I ran the POD without any CAI

After installing the POD, induction sound was much louder when throttle is applied. Power gain? Need to use Dash Command to run test to verify.

This morning, my test was more focus on intake temp. When on stock air box. The intake temp when the engine is fully warmed up and driving is around 43c give and take. When stop temp goes up until 46 give and take. When the car is moving the temp will have a constant of 42c +- at speed of 80 and above.

With the POD, i notice a drop in intake temp at speed of 80 and above. Temp taken this morning was around 38c +- BUT when the car stop at traffic lights the temp goes up pretty quick until 46~47C but once the car start to move back the temp drops down pretty fast. A strong jab on the throttle makes the temp drop another 1 to 2C.

NOW, I'm not concluding that Open pod is better but I notice with a POD the temp fluctuation is more noticeable then when I was using the stock air box.

On power wise, my initial findings, is that Mid range give more pull RPM from 2.5K until 5K was the most obvious but at 4th gear from 5K until redline seems a slow to me....This gives me an impression that it has narrow down the powerband. Compare to the stock air box.

Now, my findings is telling me that aix box has the best overall powerband as it's wider = more usable power range for daily drive. The powerband of the POD i believe is only useful for track (depending on track also) since most of the time the rev will hover around that area.

Since I have my airbox removed, I'm now finding ways to wrap the air box up with cooking aluminium foil. IF I can get the temp to go down as the same like a POD then it will be (killing 2 birds with 1 stone).

Above is my own theory and findings, it could be right or it could be wrong but owners are all welcomed to chip in and join this discussion.

Hi guys, thanks for caring...I went home early and as usual I'm a guy who can't sit still for long time. So I went to my wife lot kitchen and grab a box of Reynolds heavy duty Alu wrapping foil. I end up wrapping my whole air box and the stock intake rubber hose hahahaha....some say it don't do any effect but I still find the science behind it as Alu foil is a good insulator with the shinning side facing out. Because it reflect radiated heat. My point of doing this is not expecting any gain but more to intake temp control and to reduce the air box getting heat soak...what you guys think? I can't seem to find michi formation on this over the web...most they say is use to wrap sandwich

Yup, Bro..true also...  notworthy.gif

There's the other characteristic due2 material used... tongue.gif

Insuflex is made of POOR conductor of heat (non-metal) whereas the Alu foil is of metal...which is a GOOD conductor!!
Phew... Sc can b very contradictory, rite?  sweat.gif

So it finally falls back on2 which feature & how it wld serve the application well...
Feel Bro Mahihi wld hv more tech info on Insuflex's properties...how it is more inclined towards...
Ie as an insulator of heat or as a sound insulator...

Mayb a combination of BOTH materials wld b Best?  icon_idea.gif

Insuflex as an Insulator on the inside with Alu Foil as the Reflector on the outside?

Bro TitanRev, what do yu think?

Aluminum foil is good heat conductor if the heat is transfer via conduction. Like how u take a metal bar at 1 end and heat the other end and in the end the whole bar will get heated up. Why I use the reflective side of the foil facing out is to reflect off radiated heat. In engines heat is transferred via radiation and conduction. So even I wrap the air box up heat will still be conducted there via the connected point (heat will always move to cooler area due to molecule expansion) what I did is to reduce the radiated heat as much as possible be it on idling or moving. As I have mentioned the test is to control the temp. Just now I went out for lunch and ambient temp was 36c I noticed intake temp with the wrap was around 40c when I reach my place so it has some how slow down the heating via radiation. If u guys notice aluminum foil has 2 sides 1 side dull n 1 side reflective.

I didn't use any glue to wrap my air box and the rubber hose. Just cable ties. If use insuflex, I will sandwich it between 2 layers of Alu foil with both reflective side facing out.

This is how I wrap my airbox and stock intake hose.....I've also used a sanding bit to smoother out the edges of the air intake holes...I found some sharp edges and ridges as common for injection molding...

After did this, park for 1 hour after engine drive start back engine intake temp shows 46C only instead of 49c before wrapping....temp when driving also stable....when using open pod if not wrap the temp gets to 54c when stop engine for 1 hour....

Sunday track day was really fun. This time drivers were better. No crazy ah beng driving like crazy ppl. I manage 7 laps and last 2 laps was in wet condition as rain came. 1st time experience wet track and have to change my braking point and line.

This time around my lap speed was faster and cornering speed increase as I enter corner with higher speed than my previous track day but due to hold up at registration time was rush so no time to setup my lap record thing, didn't remove my spare tire and tools from boot. Then my windscreen holder for phone keep falling down only can use my not clear DVR as recorder.

I was surprised got 2 guys walk up to my car after the track day to ask about my car mods as they saw my car in action...hahaha...

Still find my car need some improvement on handling will need to go harder on the spring rate and need to set some camber into the front wheels. The most amazing thing I found this time is how well the stock brakes kept up with abuse....my pads and rotor was close to smoking after 3 laps but still bite...this time I went really hard in track. I brake harder and later as I tested out my brake hose..my tire pressure went up to 35psi for the front n 34 at the rear.

Also I was surprised, my friend said my FLX like a ghost, hilang after 3 corners.....

On track??

Anywah, ericmaxmangarybenjamindaresreapers....I just got call from my wife...My headlight CAI kena stolen at my house.....

It's like this this morning I woke up at 7am seeing I still have time I went to drill and paint the headlight CAI then put it at my car porch under the morning sun to bake it. I told my wife when she goes out that time help me take in and keep inside the house and she went back to sleep again after that so I prepare to leave home for work. I close the gate but forget to lock the pad lock so I just left with the headlight CAI at the car porch with a few cans of matt black and plastidip paints at the side of the wall inside the porch.

Confirm someone open my gate and went to my car porch and stole all my stuff, my headlight, my paints, my 2 C clamp.....NMGH.... vmad.gif these f**king people really jibai....Now I feel really piss off and angry....all my work just gone like that all my stuff..........I was going to snap picture later tonight to post tomorrow....sigh~~~MH MH MH MH MH.....now I also don't know how....

I wonder the people who stole my stuff is going to use it or what.....it's not even street legal.....stupid ppl...

Curse that person who stole my stuff......but lucky I kept my CAI hose, my custom intake pipe and original Apexi air filter in the house.

Anyway, I want to sell off my Genuine apexi air filter with 3 inch adapter and the custom intake pipe. Who interested let me know. Letting go as 1 whole complete set. Price 250.

Items included
Genuine Apexi dual funnel power intake with 3 inch Stainless steel adapter.
Samco 90 degree silicone elbow
2.5 inch custom made Stainless steel intake pipe.
Samco 3 inch to 2.5 inch reducer
3 inch CAI hose with mounting clamps and 2 bell mouth air inlet.
The air filter already have a mounting bracket for the chassis but you can replace it with stronger bracket if you want. I will give you also a piece of dampening material to put between the fuse bracket and the air filter funnel so that the metal edge won't keep rubbing on the air filter.

My price of 250 is for everything and as of current, genuine Apexi Dual Funnel selling in the market is around 265 without adapter and with adapter some will be close to 300 bucks...just for the air filter.

The above is straight plug n play for FLX MT.....since my design was based on my car.

Note, the custom piping is done by myself all the cutting and polishing of the inner joints are done properly so you can expect a very smooth inner surface at all the welding joints, the welding is done by my trusty local nearby shop.

Interested party, please PM me....reason for selling is because I've done my testing and my rubbish bin enclosure need to be scrap because in the coming months I will be occupied with more work at home and in office so won't have time to do already.

Thank you

For tires, 15 inch can get some decent performance tires are 200

Like Prada Spec2....I can do 7 laps on this tires

Dunlop FM901 can get also less than 200.

My next target is getting R1R
