Anyone here rooted their ZL? Which is betterL- Doomlord V18 method or Bin4ry method?

I'm on fw 2.67. Is reflashing to .423 necessary?

Yep, got error msg from Doomlord kit that it won't work .2.67. So .. my next question is:- is it advisable to flash kernel from own country? I found some MY kernel but the FTF's like 700MB+ and I only want the kernel portion ... Will there be any issues if I use India kernel?

Just installed xposed framework + gravity box module ... pretty satisfied with the minor tweaks!

Yeah ... basically as promoted, obtain custom ROM functionality without the hassle of flashing. Did the below for mine:-

- changed stat bar to AOSP (not sure, the blue icons and all) style
- flip settings !!! Wish dev added in a POWER BUTTON tile though
- PIE control @ Extended Desktop (but honestly I feel it's just for fancy purpose ... I prefer to launch directly from app tray/stat bar)
- Hide Stamina mode Icon

Need to find the below:-

- Hide app drawer (for better ext. desktop experience)
- extended NavBar functionality (GBox only have it for hardware buttons right?)

Oh just curious, the lockscreen is not supposed to work right?

Yep, found that as well ... Google'd the changelog & noticed that power menu can be access by long press sleep tile.

Sounds about normal .. USB output about 500mA right? Z battery about 2xxx mA ?2xxx/500 = min 4hours. In fact, if you are actively using your Z while connected to USB, I think the battery % will even drop eventhough it's charging (output usage > input).

My ZL came with a 1.5A output charger, but I used a 2A one for faster charging. Hope it doesn't burn out the phone.

If use stock charger, the phone should be fully charged within 1-2 hours assuming you're on 20% or less. If longer you might want to have the charger/cable checked. Touch wood it's not the battery/charging parts on the phone that is dead.

Any generic charger from any phone shop will do.

Go cheapo mall or buy from small mobile shop/booth lo... Recently changed flip casing to cap ayam soft silicone casing. Got it for RM15 (cannot nego) at a mobile phone accessory booth at IOI. Turned out the part at the power button was too tight and it kept on applying pressure to the power button. Even a slight touch can trigger it. End up I had to tebuk lubang for the power button.

Clear Sony Select cache/appdata then restart it. Worked for me

4.3 sounds tempting. Gonna miss xposed framework for a while I guess

No root yet right ... so the framework won't work. Haven't check xda in a while ... will do so soon.

Just updated to 4.3 ... A LOT of apps force close and I ended up doing a factory reset (w/o touching userdata) ... seems to have fixed the problems now. Another issue is my phone feels like a mini Sun now ... it heats up with barely any usage ...

Wanted to reflash back to 4.2.2 but when I click on Flashmode in Flashtool nothing appears

Any ZL users here updated to 4.3 and facing heating issues? As in ... minimal/usual activity but there is a noticeable amount of heat on the phone. On 4.2.2 running the same things I don't face this issue. I have restarted the phone multiple times & did a factory reset but problem still persists. Will let it idle for a few hours then check the power consumption ... What a great way to start 2014

Latest update:- I disabled Extended Standby Mode, the heating seems to have stopped. Will restart it tonight and see if heating recurs.

My bad, I meant Stamina mode. ANyway, I have re-enabled it and seems to have no issue already ... Wondering if it's a upgrade-related bug or dying hardware ...

Do I need the firmware folder in \Flashtool? I thought we can select where any directory that contains the FTF...

OK, starting a 48hr countdown here

So it seems I am not the only one who got heating problems ... You guys might wanna try:-

- full charge phone while shutdown; then power up
- disable stamina mode

This is pretty much trial and error but my phone temp is normal now ... Not sure if it will recur again.

This battery problem ... is it a known issue? Specific to certain batches only ?

THe difference is from the navigation bar ...

Assuming you are doing it using built-in Backup & restore, when u go to Factory Data Reset, DO NOT tick the "Erase internal storage" option. It is at the bottom most of the menu.
