Experience The Best Of Sony In A Smartphone ~ Introducing The Precision Engineered Full HD Smartphone
Display
A screen as impressive as HDTV – Full HD Reality Display
Feel like you’re there with the razor sharp and super bright full HD screen. Xperia Z brings you the highest level of HD available – 1080 progressive scan, for incredibly crisp pictures and no jagged edges. Expertise from our BRAVIA® TV engineers goes into our mobile screens, to bring you the same quality you’d expect from a top quality HDTV. The 5” full HD Reality Display also has very high pixel density – 443 pixels per inch, for razor sharp pictures – and superior brightness. And with the wide colour gamut it gives you the widest colour spectrum, so you can view every detail in vivid colour.
True Screen intelligence – Mobile BRAVIA® Engine 2
The second generation of our acclaimed Mobile BRAVIA® Engine, Mobile BRAVIA® Engine 2 delivers an even better viewing experience by adding new real-time contrast optimisation to the sharpness enhancement, high-quality colour management and noise reduction. Mobile BRAVIA® Engine 2 is also able to analyse content type and adjust the image accordingly. Adding Mobile BRAVIA® Engine 2 to the Reality Display makes for the most intelligent HD mobile phone screen – one that adapts automatically to display your content in the best way. (1) Contrast enhancement
Contrast in images and video is enhanced by making the darkest parts slightly darker, which brings out details in the picture. (2) Colour Management
Colour saturation is increased for specified colour ranges, which makes the colours deeper and more vivid. And the intelligent Mobile BRAVIA® Engine 2 software reproduces skin colour exactly as it appears to the naked eye. (3) Noise reduction
Distortion and noise is reduced when streaming low-quality video from online sources, such as YouTube. Noise is reduced both to individual frames and between frames, for clearer viewing. (4) Sharpness filter
Mobile BRAVIA® Engine 2 applies a sharpness filter to increase the overall detail level in the image. This is done by enhancing the edges and contrast without increasing noise.
Less reflective, more responsive – OptiContrast™ & Direct Touch
We’ve eliminated a layer of air in the construction, bringing the touch panel closer to the display. This OptiContrast™ panel makes for less reflection and clearer viewing – even in bright sunlight, as well as creating a seamlessly black surface when the phone is turned off. By eliminating the sensor layer and integrating the sensor on the lens, we’ve managed to increase the responsiveness of the screen. So your touch is more effective and the experience on your Android smartphone is more intuitive.
Sharp and crisp in every light. See the 13 MP camera in action.
Exmor RS™ for mobile – the world’s first image sensor with HDR video for smartphones
HDR for photos and videos captures natural colours in any light. HDR (High Dynamic Range) is an imaging technology used to capture clear photos against strong backlight. With HDR, the camera captures the same image at different exposure levels and layers them to create one optimised photo.
Xperia Z introduces HDR to video, so that you can film even in high contrast situations, like in front of a window or with the sun behind your subject.
Always the right setting – Superior Auto
Now it’s always easy to get a great shot. With Superior Auto, you don’t have to know the ins and outs of camera settings to make use of them. In Superior Auto mode, the camera combines Scene Recognition with high quality and high performance image processing technology (HDR and noise reduction) to automatically shoot with the optimal settings. And your Android device is automatically optimised for 36 different scenes, so you always get the best shot.
Stunning shots in any light — 13 MP camera with Exmor RS™ for mobile
The 13 megapixel camera is built with the same modules as leading Sony cameras. Exmor RS™ for mobile is an evolution of our Sony image sensor technology, with a next-generation BSI light sensor. By adopting the technology of luminance and colour noise reduction, we’ve created a camera that snaps highly detailed shots with low noise – even in challenging lighting conditions. You’re now also able to reproduce objects in more vivid colours and capture night images and faces in stunning clarity. Exmor RS™ for mobile includes HDR video, for clear shots even when your subject is backlit.
World’s only dual Exmor R for mobile camera
We’ve included the Sony Exmor R™ for mobile sensor on the full HD front camera, so you can take self-portraits or chat in lowlight conditions as well. And both the front and rear cameras support HDR photos.

Both the front and back panels of Xperia Z are made of durable tempered glass that’s much stronger than conventional glass. Each glass panel also has an anti-shatter film for even greater durability.
An incredibly tough frame
The skeleton frame is made of tough glass fibre polyamide. It has superior mechanical strength, and is so strong that it’s often used as a metal substitute in cars and electronics.
Design / Durability Xperia ZL
An amazingly compact 5” smartphone – for a truly immersive display
We took away all the unnecessary hardware bits when building Xperia ZL, allowing the brilliant 5” display to take centre stage. In order to get the high screen to phone size ratio, our engineers optimised components architecture and layout. The result is an Android smartphone that manages to feel both breathtakingly bold and impressively compact at the same time.
Quality craftsmanship
Xperia ZL was designed in collaboration with Sony consumer electronics experts, for quality craftsmanship and consistent attention to details. Only premium materials were used throughout, like aluminium for the power and volume buttons, the toughest glass for the front panel and a frame made of glass fibre polyamide that’s as tough as metal.

12. Is Factory reset required when upgrade from A version to B version, example 4.1.2 to 4.2.2?
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
It is advisable do a FACTORY RESET when firmware update jump from A to B for gaining back the suppose smoothness.
Factory Reset is a must! after installing the ROM, or else you will still facing Honami Camera FC from time to time & widget lockscreen not working.
Why this Honami Port is Great!:
No more upstop popping FC in Honami Camera nor-matter you open the camera from where, how many times you switch between Auto Superior and others mode. It is extreme stable without any single FC appear in all available mode. FC only happen if you change the focus mode at Manual mode, the focus mode only work in one mode - touch focus.
The camera is ok, still better than older 4.1.2 version of .434 ROM but it definitely not better than 4.2.2 version of .423 ROM. The output is not consistence and SCN mode is missing from photo part, which means no manual select of Night Portrait is capable. SCN mode only available in Video now.

This is the most complete port, include all the Honami color and working in every change of keyboard and contact color selection. Also now the app drawer semi transparent is act correctly as it suppose, look much nicer now.
Also, extra add-on cool Android 4.3 stock camera with support of Photosphere.
The only not working is Sound effects at Settings - Sound, also Honami camera will FC in superior auto when enable force GPU in development options.
Still torn between Z and ZL. What else should I look other than the difference on the first page? What is irda remote and pressure sensor anyway? So far, I'm more to Z... Waterproof sound awesome.
IRDA is Infra red sensor and this sensor can controll you house TV for example. Its makes your phone act as a remote control.
Anyone ever compare real life situation for battery life, Z vs S4? S4 really disappointed me.
Buy Xperia Z better in terms of battery. The reason why S4 battery performance not there because the phone pack with huge hardware that produce great performance that eats up battery alot. Etc :- Processor and Graphic.
If S4 battery were 3000 Mah then its acceptable.
Xperia Z Performance , Graphic and Battery all are stable. With battery stamina will increase the battery performance by 20 to 35 %
What's the con? Well, my phone recently damaged by water. And I traveling by boat a lot. Seems a good feature for me. But ironically, my note 2 gets splashed by my shower bath in bath room. It's mean I can take care of my phone while traveling but not at home.
QUOTE(diaBoliQu3 @ Nov 30 2013, 02:35 AM)
Sound not important to me because I headphone guy. Now I wish my Note 2 speaker is damaged instead of cam. But the flap is durable or not? Because if it's not durable, better take ZL, plus ZL are way cheaper....
For the first post my answer to you is if you were traveling alot i recommend you get Xperia ZL because its durable abit. Xperia Z front and back is made of glass and if you dropped it by accidentally and if it`s break then the cost of repair is a bomb. For water splash aiyo please go in to the bath room take the shower then come out and only play your phone. Why should you bring the phone into the bathroom ? ( Doing multi million dollar business issit ? )
Second post answer :- If you know how to take care for the Xperia Z flaps then the flaps will not spoil even how many times you open and close it.
Talking about flaps makes me remember my HTC Butterfly the charging port there got flaps and last time i see many people complain in LYN Forum thread because the broke their flaps
Gently open and close the flaps then i am sure it will be ok because mine till now also good intact with the phone.
Incase of the flaps really spoil then the cost of changing a flaps is RM 30 to 40 in Sony Center at Plaza Berjaya.
Well, it's a habit of bringing my phone while answer nature call for playing game, reading etc. Why need a newspaper when your phone have news inside. So I put my phone at that particular spot I always put my phone. And , such a coincident our house water pressure suddenly too high that night, the water seems to splash out from the shower head and reach that particular spot that I put my phone. And that broken flap sound like a deal breaker for me. Maybe that's why people many let go their Z now.
And the weird thing is, that evening I just plan to get a cheap phone for my 2nd number since Note considered as my best phone and high end. Now the camera damage, Note 2 automatically dropped to basic phone to me. I snap photo a lot since that's my hobby. Repairing the cam cost about RM 600-700 according to Note 2 thread.
My current plan is get Z or ZL, spend some of the money for my Note 2, or get Z1 and live with Note 2 damaged cam and repair Note 2 next year. But with ZL seems like a win win for me. Note 2 revive, and I have 2nd phone. I think it's time for me to get 1080 phone. And again, LG G2 come disturbing my selection. But cam wise, seems like Xperia win among all right?
LG G2 new set is RM 1599 to RM 1699
Xperia ZL new set is 1250 to RM 1350
LG G2 wins ZL in performance, graphic, battery and many more. But if compare to Z1 then Z1 wins alot.
I recommend if you got enough budget then get LG G2 international set but if you don`t have the budget then get ZL and it very worth the penny.
After i read your reply and your question over this thread i don`t recommend you to get Xperia Z.
