Hi guys I need some advice here. I am considering getting a new laptop either the aw17 or aw18 problem is if im looking for the best performace and bang for buck is sli really worth it on the aw18 I only start worrying now because afraid the cpu will bottleneck the dual sli gtx 780m. Solution is to OC the cpu? I am not even sure if AW18 can handle OC because I have no experience with it.

I have waited a long time (and hardwork *ahem*) for this day to finally get the best gaming laptop I can get and yeah I agree alienware aint cheap but its the best Buy base on after sales support right... lulz.

Hmm single gpu would automatically mean getting an AW17. New mobile gpu coming out the gtx 880m think I should wait for that instead? US dell already offering that in their alienware line.

My thinking is like this because current gpu's are gona go out of date and the new gpu comes in blablabla and I want to avoid having to upgrade my aw17 why not just get an AW18 sli so I wont have to worry about upgrading...

Would that be a smarter choice or "meh ain't really gona cut it"?

Curious though when you do upgrade you send it back to dell or find a a technician to do it or diy?

Was thinking what happens to the old gpu do you keep it or sell it?

Yeah ive been in contact with Oscar on fb. His got like 3 choices for me for my budget either the AW17 New, his Used Aw17 with 120hz moniter and the AW18.

Used is just about 1k cheaper than new so. AW18 he did mention that the moniter on there wont be able to support more than 60fps so its kinda like potential of sli is wasted? I am not sure what the difference is cost personally I cant tell the difference in a normal moniter and 120hz moniter.

Oscar did mention that the only difference between his used and new is monitor and blueray. The price 9999 not including 3 years warranty and windows 7 its going to be roughly around the same price if not more expensive that getting new.

Edit: Oh I forgot to add the used aw17 oscar mention the monitor is more expensive roughly 1400 for the monitor and 600 for the glasses just to be fair.

Well after add 3 years warranty and windows 7 on Oscar's Aw17 prices comes to about exactly the same as getting a new AW17.

I guess so I mean even Oscar himself suggest I should get his used AW17.

Really cannot make up my mind haha

Yeah I already contacted him on wanting to get his Aw17 instead of the new one. Just waiting for him to get back to me. Hoping for the best

Oscar give free 32gb ram and bagpack if I buy his aw17. Good deal right I dont even know if I will use that much ram.

My Aw17 almost on the way now. Just missing a good headset. Anyone know any good headset out there? Im leaning mostly to immersion of gaming or music so sound quality should be nice. I got myself a Siberia V2 and 7h Usb. Perhaps something I can make full use of the AW17 soundcard. Open to suggestion

Thanks Joshuachew. I am now trying to choose which shipping method for the V-Moda at the same time maybe also get the boom pro mic.

I dont know I chose the color and than a mandatory shield. not really custom just default from the list that is available in this case I chose matte black and black shields. Not confirm yet got 4 shipping options the $40 shipping in 6-10 business days with tracking is the one you choose?

I personally like matte screen because its not that glary like a mirror. But most of the time I use my laptop indoors maybe wont be so bad

Personally have not used a glossy screen before time will tell
