Hello,

Anyone here know any seller that have ready stock Alienware Vindicator 17" backpack? Need one, urgent, for travel sweat.gif
*
i'm not sure about 17" but you can get 18" backpack at mid valley at a shop called something 'add-ons' something. (selling mostly gaming stuff) around MYR 220.00+ only.

Oh thank you for the info!

Will headed there soon smile.gif
*
No problem smile.gif

There is another shop at top floor of lyp. A dell shop at ground floor i think also have it.

If possible grab the 18". More spacious. (17" is too fit for aw17 imo)

Never goes above 90. Thing is HoN isnt suppose to make ur processor so hot so I am scared if I play games like crysis 3 surely it will shoot to 100 plus lol.
*
don't worry CLU will do the trick pretty well. the max it can go is 88c. (non-air conditioned room temperature, about 30c) imo as long as it's not above 90c under load it's fine. (i am talking about playing games non-stop for more than 6 hours each session hehehe)

the gpu temperature on the other hand is like 75c max. the good of triple pipes biggrin.gif

now my problem is the PCH. if i do long-hour gaming it will reach over 100c for sure.

I dont get it. Why not bigger fan for processor too in R4. :S
*
bigger doesn't mean better. however they should have put in more powerful fans.

there is a fan mod tutorial at techinferno, http://forum.techinferno.com/alienware-m17...fm-10-4cfm.html (using m14x r2 fans. cfm is much higher) but seriously, don't do that biggrin.gif

rpm are slow i mean it should be blowing off more air out. The GPU fan blows out more air. Maybe my fan is spoiled and it is working on low rpm hmm.
*
er what's the cpu fan's current rpm?

i wonder, what's the creative approach that aw engineers put into aw18 (hopefully aw17 too) to let the cpu run at 4.4ghz?

finally, the cure for plague of overheating when using high-end cpu's seemed to have finally arrived biggrin.gif

Bigger fan and better thermal compound. What else? Erm.. Better heat sink matetial.
Not much they can do actually. Unless using liquid cooling. Haha.
*
hm.. yeah maybe they're just fans of same size but much higher cfm, triple-pipe cpu heatsink, and better thermal grease.

if it's a new release (not refresh) the fans might be bigger also.

yay. finally something worth waiting for biggrin.gif

i have the same question on my mind lol! as long the card has same layout design i don't see any problem. we can use the same gpu heat sink. (talking about standards, they should share the same layout theoretically hehe)

haha! for desktops actually i am waiting for something else biggrin.gif (for now the 690's are serving me well so i still can wait for a bit)

but according to the china website. gtx 900 is cheaper than gtx 880m
*
that's good news biggrin.gif

GTX 980M Is below 3k.  rclxms.gif
GTX 970M is below 2k  rclxms.gif

GTX 970M perform better than GTX 780M and GTX 880M.

Maxwell (9xx) starting price is cheaper than Kepler (7xx, 8xx) cards.

I hope can bring some cheap GTX 780M and GTX 880M to sell here with lower price than my current selling price. flex.gif
*
bring them. (970m/980m are more viable imo) do good to all of us haha!

windows 10 preview.. windows 8.1 drivers will work right? for m17xR4?
*
i am running w10.tp on asus.g55. (with ms built-in vm feature) everything works. (drivers, etc. even the on-screen displays) so my best guess is that it will work for m17xr4. (they have the same chipset and similar parts)

horns, Windows 10, how is it so far?

My M17x now having issues with the battery, right fan and touch pad.

The machine has stopped charging a few times already and it takes a while to get it to charge again. The right fan doesn't work and the touch pad is all wonky.

Man...
*
uh? how come? what happened?

it's better to call dell to make an appointment :/

w10.tp is pretty much a w8.1 with a start button. (plus a few new features like multiple desktops, better command prompt. still a long way to go i guess.) by the way it comes with a keylogger so just confine yourself to test for features if you're not happy with that.

All they need to do is return the start button and give us a Windows classic option again. Ability to turn off the bullshit window panes as well.

Not sure what happened. Fan dead since they changed it a few weeks ago. I haven't noticed till lately. The TouchPad suddenly is sensitive as ever and won't stay still.

And the battery, not sure but from what I googled is a common problem. Doesn't charge, dies and even numerous restarts doesn't help. Adapter is fine btw.

All in all, disappointing for a 10 month old machine. This and the heat sink they replaced last month along with both the fans. Aw is seriously pissing me off.
*
lol! i am just playing with it when i have time. there is nothing much to see at this point of time in w10.tp.

yeah i guess it's better to ask dell to check it out first. those issues sounded really bad. i have no clue how they happened :/

Nah, not going to reinstall my BIOS because everything was fine before this. Just after they changed the fan that it was problematic so they can come fix it. The CPU was over heating before because of their thermal liquid placing.

Plus with the over heating, and BD rom slot issues, etc I have already reinstalled once in the last few weeks so I already have the latest BIOS smile.gif

horns, Dell is pissing me off. You know my history with the last machine. At least the GPU works on this one.
*
yeah you're really unlucky :/ i think it's better that you replace all affected parts first. there shouldn't be overheating issues if the fans work well.

i have very good experience with dell. most of my problems were hardware-related (mostly my faults) but the dell tech guys did well in fixing my machines. since w7 i haven't had any software-related issues yet, most probably because i use very few software only hehe.. and the battery are still in good shape. (again, maybe it's because i always have the machines plugged in)

well.. technically, it's like home -> car -> office, then reverse the orders after work lol!

aw17 is way better for mobility. (still, i have backup adapters everywhere biggrin.gif)
