QUOTE(horns @ Mar 9 2015, 08:49 PM) uh? please read my previous post to you in the previous page. i have suggested you a good thermal compound, where to get it, and how to treat it before application. apparently you didn't read it. yes, besides its abrasive nature, ic.diamond also leaves a dark mark on your heat sink. arctic cooling mx-4 is ok but still not as good. i have tested quite a number of thermal compounds, including ic.diamond, mx-4, tuniq tx-4, prolimatech pk2 and pk3, arctic silver 5, coolaboratory liquid ultra (clu), and gelid gc-extreme. so far the best results to me are clu and gc-extreme. gc-extreme is much safer so it's my personal preference. thanks bro!

QUOTE(horns @ Mar 10 2015, 07:33 AM) oh. You chose clu. It's a good choice but you have to be extra careful with it because it's electrically conductive. this was why I didn't recommend it in the first place. It also leaves a dark mark on your heat sink. To remove that you might need their own cleaning solution, or sand papers. It's not very soluble to arctic clean. When applying, remember to use only a very small amount on the heat sink and cpu die. Well just be extra careful with it. Edit: i cannot stress on this enough because clu can cause serious damages to components in a computer, including cpu, if you or someone you hired to do it are not careful during removal and application. Also, fyi it can corrode aluminium. So do not use it on aluminium heat sinks. Other than that, its performance is one of the best i must say. i asked apes.my and no stock for gelid. is it really difficult to remove clu?? can i apply it to both cpu and gpu?

QUOTE(horns @ Mar 10 2015, 03:08 PM) ah no wonder. no stock?! that's fast. i got some from them just weeks ago almost immediately after their announcement of gc-extreme availability in malaysia. i wanna get some more for spare :/ i think you should check out clu removal process at google. there are videos shown at coollaboratory website also. however, the thing they don't show you is that once clu is hardened, it's hard to remove it from the heat sink. yes you can apply it to both cpu and gpu. dell technician checked my laptop today and replaced the graphic card and both fans. still the temperature wont drop.

QUOTE(e_mc_square @ Mar 10 2015, 04:47 PM) They just change like that? Dell cheapluk thermal compound can't use. I deal with Dell many time. I know they only provide very small amount of thermal compound to technician when they come to service. The will only change thermal compound if they change the heatsink or GPU. The thermal compound is totally low grade one... yeah, they dont repaste. just take from the old gpu. lol im waiting for the seller from lowyat forum to reply. do you sell any thermal paste?

QUOTE(horns @ Mar 13 2015, 12:51 PM) before you apply gc-extreme, put the tube into hot water. it's easier to spread this way. usually i just put it in hot water, and start disassembling the laptop, clean the fans and vents, and remove the old thermal paste from cpu/gpu die and heat sink. once everything is completed, i take it out from hot water and apply it with rice/dot method. (put a rice size paste on the cpu/gpu die). you can determine the right amount of paste by sacrificing the first replacement, meaning apply some amount, secure heat sink, then take the heat sink out again and check the spread. if it covers 90% of the die, to me it's good, because when you use the computer, the heat will further help spreading also. now clean it up, and do it one more time. once you do that, secure the heat sink according to the sequences labelled on the heat sink. do not use force to secure the screws. (if it's too tight the die will break, and you cpu/gpu is gone) okay thanks bro

QUOTE(horns @ Mar 14 2015, 11:11 PM) really not sure how you can get this. if you got the stock mei driver from dell support website, it should install fine. alternatively you can use windows updates for this also. i think this is due to im using AHCI setup not RAID.
