for a long time this thread doesnt talk about music , i got a musical question here goes...

anyone knows how to start and end a solo phrase on the off beat? i can play on the off beats on a single notes accurately. but i cant seem to construct a line aiming on the off beats.

how to show u sample if i also duno how to do.

off beat playing is uncommon in blues, rock and metal music. i think you can hear it in some of RCHP records (cant stop bridge comes to mind) however that is only single note/chord playing.

to replicate this, i guess the best way to show u is to get a metronome, play an 8th note, so for each beat you get 2 notes. but to play off the beat you only play the second note.

now i can do that accurately, what im tring to do is to start and end a solo phrase on the second note as i please. doing so will change your tone, the feel of the song and things. it makes the song sound happier and lighter.

the genre i play? i play a mixture of chillout jazz and blues with emphasis on improv. so this makes my lines more jazzy when i want them to and can swap it to be more bluesy when it fits
