Pneumatic, not LA. More like #8455 tongue.gif

Anyway, the movements are not bad with no-load. And the best part using these parts are ... he can change it to hydraulic ! thumbup.gif Hydraulic does not compress as much as air. But, when under load, the tubes could pop out or start leaking, can easily resolve by seal/glue it up.

Wondering if anyone has tried using rechargeable batteries for Mindstorms EV3 and can offer advice on the type of batteries to get and where from - any recommended shop/online seller? I remember some taikuns here gave good advice on using Sanyo Eneloops for their train and technic power functions sets. If someone can share the previous links would be great. Thanks. smile.gif

Thanks, but wondering which type/capacity to get... for AA got 1700-2700mAh.  rclxub.gif
*
Current standard Sanyo Eneloop (acquired by Panasonic) AA are 2000mAh
AAA are 800mAh

There are Lite at 1000/600 and XX at 2500/950 for AA/AAA

So I presume the mAh specifies the capacity in terms of how long the battery runs before it needs recharging.

One thing I found out also is that the voltage/power for rechargeable AA batteries is 1.2V compared to 1.5V for regular alkaline AA batteries, so that means more juice/power if use regular batteries ie. Lego trains/motors/Minstorms run faster? rclxub.gif
*
err... try search my nick name or the word "eneloop" in previous few 3-5 threads, I got write TL;DR on it.
But summary is:
- yes, Eneloop are at 1.2V. Using normal 1.5V alkaline means more juice.
- 6x 1.2 = 7.2V, which is below the 9V , hence motor turn slower, won't last that long.
- I mod to 8x 1.2V = 9.6V, still within reasonable threshold

- 10-12V will/may be overkill, and although motor runs even faster, but no guarantee if it will kill the motor prematurely.

that's the difference of lite and XX...
Thanks for the info biggrin.gif
for technic power function, is it ok to use XX eneloop?
if i'm not mistaken, the XX eneloop is it black color?
thanks for the update biggrin.gif
*
All can use, still at 1.2V each.
The mAh is the amount of juice it can provide over a time period. Bigger means longer.

You can imagine like those powerbank 5000mAh and 10000mAh.

Yes, XX is black.
Lite is slightly lighter-colour from standard.
Those colourful/fancy ones are normally standard.

For me, I use standard is enough. Recent took out my AAA batteries which has been kept 3-4 months, and still can power up the trains.
I can't afford XX , cost is like 75%-100% more, but the gain is just 15-25% more mAh sad.gif

hi

Lego Technic 42009  Mobile Crane

if want to make RC version need alots extra parts right.

hard or not to make it and find extra part

just asking
*
There are instructions from web, youtube videos, brickset website.

Parts can get from Bricklink or part-off from other full-sets. Cost per part from Bricklink will be more expensive, as need to include shipping. Most of the time, need to get from several sellers.
Either buy all cheapest, but from 10-20x sellers + 10-20x shipping.
Or buy average price, but from 3-6x sellers + 3-6x shipping.
Both adds up to be the same.

Wait till you check the cost for electrical parts like motor, servo, cables, lights, battery boxes, etc.

After all the above, it is not that hard to follow the instructions that you want (cause you need to buy the parts based on the one you choose).

32184 Technic, Axle and Pin Connector Perpendicular 3L with Center Pin Hole

Sorry I can't post picture because am on a coach to Singapore. You can search for that part number in BrickLink. There is only 1 used piece for sale at RM19+ rclxub.gif but you will need 4pcs...

I would suggest before you dive into this project to create a "Wanted List" in BrickLink first to scan for parts prices and availability. Certain rare parts like the metal hook and the above mentioned connector may not be available or comes at a very high price. It may then become too expensive or pure frustrating to complete the project simply because you can't find one (or few) missing parts.
*
Yellow ... no wonder, I got 1 in hand only ... maybe I check and substitute with other colours.

Metal hook I can reuse from older Technic sets.

You Technic veteran sure will have those parts. notworthy.gif I was lucky to get the hook before price shot up. blush.gif Only pat I cannot find is the yellow connector, ordered other colours as a substitute but I don't think it will look pretty when completed. doh.gif

haiz.... no choice la, I'm not taikun to spend. Substitute is acceptable to me. Maybe try to swap/hide somewhere for the different colour one. sweat.gif
