Not necessary. Ducky 2xxx zero series is also made in China, which I don't think also can't run away from the China grade QC issues.
Also, just FYI, keycool do made real solid boards. And their slightly curved edge made them more comfortable to be use compared to those sharp edge one.

Also, their detachable cable, costar stabiliser, stock pbt keycaps and also option for white case are significant advantages over Ducky Zero.

So, b4 any sos claimed that Ducky Zero is able to rival their non-zero line, Keycool may still ahead of the zero.

QUOTE(imbibug @ Dec 1 2013, 09:34 PM)
How does the Keycool 87 compare with the Ducky zero 2087 tkl in terms of build quality?
And does the Keycool have a switch to 6kro mode?
*
Keycool is default USB 20+ KRO.

Does it have a dip switch or a keypress config to change it to 6kro for full compatibility on certain motherboards?
*
Nope, it either work or didn't work.

But I think as long as you not using Linux/Mac, there isn't compatibility issue with it.

as a common user as I am. Razer Blackwidow Tournament is very solid piece of hardware if you just want to have the mechanical keyboard. Down side is you can't modify as compared to other more 'professional' mech keyboard. Some sifu might have told you razer is #^^#^#^@%#%&@$. Well is true because they own very good kb. But as a non-hobbyist point of view, you can't go wrong with either of them.

I very recommend first time user get this because it is cheapest as price vs performance ratio. However you can top up another Rm50 to get a REAL mechanical keyboard - Ducky Zero Rm299.

Here's the comparision :

Razer Tournament :
Razer branded(Cool Green LED razer logo)
Software supported
Build quality is 7.5/10
Braided wire
Cheapest mechanical keyboard with solid 1 year warranty
Cool case included
Don't have numpad
Mat surface is a thumbs down as it have smudges after some time of abuse
Can't replace keycaps, majority can but it will look stupid.. ctrl alt and window can't be replaced
Only Blue Switch

Ducky Zero :
Ducky is one of the most preferred brand for mech keyboard
Full sized keyboard
Hassle free keyboard, plug and enjoy
Build quality 9/10
Customize the s**t out of it
Brown,Red,Black,Blue switches to choose
Rm300 for this is very good price
No fancy LED
Wire provided is not good, well you won't be pluging and unplugging all the time right? unless you buy it and play at CC

Hope it help, and welcome to the club  rclxms.gif

sometimes right, that long warranty period is quite a pain in the rear for those who wants to mod stuff but feel it's a waste to void the warranty laugh.gif
but i don't think there's much mod u can do with a rk9000 right? unless u r those hardcore modders that taps deeper into the pcb n other stuff.
*
Agree, the rosewill somehow still lack of the "WOW" factor.

You don't expect ppl to do hardcore mod on it too. If want white case, there also stock white case.

i read in GH a lot of report regarding the usb problem faced by rk9000, did we clarify whether this issue is not happening on the new batch of rk9000 anymore?
*
Check the dates of those threads?

Afaik, it is stated that they resolved the problem since long ago.

Also, with 3 years warranty, or even a soldering iron, it isn't really much a problem or issue for me.

haha... I'm using Razer Mamba 4G 2012.
Rainbow color LED on scroll but no LED on Razer logo. biggrin.gif
Normally also turn off the LED.

I believed most of the Razer product also having LED on the logo.

Iinm, their wireless range if mice don't have led, cause the space under logo need to install battery.

Actually have very large space if they want to install the LED.
The battery is lithium rechargeable, just like the phone battery, not taken much space tho.
Once you dissemble it, you will notice cheap quality build of screw etc.
*
Then I think it is either concern for battery life or they lazy to design a separate pcb above the empty space in between battery and logo.

me... generally use for typing..
some said that with mechanical keyboard, we can improve our typing pace, which is what I've doing..
currently using 5 years old logitech sk-s2930.. my typing now is between 50-60wpm..
hope my future mkb will help a bit, if not much.. smile.gif

p/s: sorry if this comment is from non-user of mkb.. my 1st mkb will arrive in a day or two.. biggrin.gif

Since adoption to mech kb will took quite a long time, with expected increase in typo in the early period, I will suggest if possible, you can try to correct and relearn the right way to type.

You may also try to learn a few new layouts like Dvorak or Colemak so you want desperately trying to adjust back to the old typing practice or behavior.

Newly converted mech keyboard user reporting in!!

Today's trip to low yat plaza was quite the experience, selections were really limited and duckys weren't available but in the end I didn't bother.

Apparently I really love backlights... I didn't notice until i saw all those sexy keyboards lit up in store, so that automatically kicks steelseries and filco out. And then my girlfriend really likes blue so I had to find one with blue backlights, corsair k70 and razer blackwidow out =3=

In the end settled for Alvia Osmium (mx red), I really didn't notice this one until I got to the store, very happy typing on it. Truth be told I still can't tell which switch suites me better even after trying all of them, but I figured blues would wake my entire neighbourhood up so brown/red for me. biggrin.gif

Thanks to all you expert mech keyboard kaki for answering my questions. My first mech keyboard~ definitely won't be my last biggrin.gif

that pricing... how are these compared to taobao? I last time bought full set ds abs(group buy) which is not bad.. not sure about PBT quality in taobao.. are they worst than GH's one?
*
The imsto in taobao is the same as in GH, so is the mkcws/geekkey in taobao offer similar products as feng in GH/ebay.

Utilizing all 10 fingers to types?

I guess those who WPM below 100 probably similar to me, didn't fully utilize all 10 fingers in typing.

My typing practise is using 4 fingers of left hands (no pinky) and 2 fingers (no thumb, index and pinky) of right hands to type. It seriously limited my typing speeds at 70+wpm at best. If want any further than that, I need to correct my way of typing from scratch... sweat.gif

Generally, we classify DCS profile into 3 types, one is OEM, one is SP and another is Cherry (in Chinese it is called ORI).

OEM are like filco, ducky, razer and bla bla, those mainstream boards you saw outside in the market. They may still have different in height between different brands, but it is consider more minimal and shouldn't off by too far.

SP is signature plastic, which is a height in between that of OEM and Cherry.

Cherry profile is that you saw on Cherry branded keyboard (not the new 2.0 and 3.0 things), where if you compared it to OEM height, you will notice that it is around 2mm lower/shorter.

I think should be like this, DCS is SP height  cool2.gif

Not really, there are other less popular profile exist out there, like SA and DSA. They are not exclusive to SP.

EDITED: Or maybe you are to classify as Deskthority did, as Contoured profile.

but this keyboard d technical spec said can be type 30millions on each key.
I also not sure what switch is that.

http://www.prehkeytec.com/fileadmin/user_u..._Tech_Specs.pdf

price around 230usd.
*
I not too sure bout the particular model, but durable rubber dome or overpriced rubber dome, both do exist out there, so 230USD for a rubber dome isn't some shocking news.

p/s: I googled and found that it is a POS keyboard, which is normal to be overpriced.
