hello sifus,

I've been reading the old posts and I'm planning to get this soon:
Intel Core i5 4430 / CPU-Intel Xeon E3-1230 V3
Asrock B85M Pro4
Corsair Value Ram 8GB DDR3 1600MHz
WD Caviar Blue 1TB HDD
Zotac GTX 760
Cooler Master K380 Casing
FSP Hexa 500W PSU
Lite-On 24x DVDRW

Will this rig work for League of legends (lowest settings) without the GTX760? Im planning to buy the graphics card on january.

Besides that, Intel Core i5 4430 and CPU-Intel Xeon E3-1230 V3. How big of a difference do they make? Is the E3 worth the RM300 extra?

Thank you in advance. tongue.gif

Depends on what resolution you want to play. My i3 530 rig with GT 440 card manage to pull 1080p World of Tanks on 32" bravia with lowest setting. Never played LOL though but I think it'll do fine even with medium settings.

I wonder why AMD is thrown out of the window when it comes to budget gaming pc. Sure performance vs watt favor intel's but it's not night and day.

The trouble is cost...  AMD builds here are no cheaper than Intel's equivalent....  tongue.gif
Not to mention the FX-8xxx requires a mid-high/high end board to handle as budget boards do not have adequate power phase to handle them... sweat.gif

Even APUs are not viable here as the total cost can net you a i3+discrete card...  APUs are not viable unless if you intend to use the integrated GPU, or if your are building a rig with very small space where discrete cards are not possible. wink.gif

For me the downside of having an AMD is the cost for the long run, RM/watt, making Intel's a better choice. It's cheap and will not bottleneck much unless it's CF/SLI. I have a budget i3 gaming rig pulling 100fps, 1080p with the lowest settings and 40fps medium sets throughout my fav game. As for APU, I see it as only for backup gpu in case the main fails so in that case I save RM60. But that's the same for an i3 530 which in SuperPi trumped my current a8 5600k 11mins vs 22 mins for 32M trials.

As if I'm backpedalling but what I got going AMD route is having the best motherboard Gigabyte can offer for A85x vs the best for intel x79. It gave me a pseudo sense of satisfaction that I've bought a top end in its class. And to my relief my OCd 5600k is 15% better than ocd i3 530 in single threaded test. It's not that bad. In real life use, it just took 1 minute of my life more but I can live with that. Fayboyism "Intel is for noob", illogically put. hahahha
